    Sarah, if you & Vince decide to have kids, I can imagine you’ll be a great mum! And wow you’re thinking ED, thought we were in this GP life together lol. Interesting Q&A!

      Aww that's such a lovely thing to say, thank you ❤️ and I know! I thought I was a diehard GP as well but I'm really starting to change my mind! I haven't completely ruled it out, I want to see how I feel about working in ED for longer. I don't think 4 months in F2 is long enough to make my mind up that I want to do it forever xx

    Great video, you’re so interesting, honestly one of my favourite CZcamsrs.
    I started following you before I got into GEP, I’m now half through second year and exams are in April, wondering if you could do a video on dealing with exam stress and also somatising symptoms you’re studying about? I absolutely love studying medicine but it’s been one of the most difficult things for me to deal with. I’ve convinced myself I’ve had kidney disease, heart disease, genetic problems, memory issues etc. It sounds funny but it’s incredibly anxiety inducing and it gets way worse before exams.
    Did you ever experience this? If so how did you deal with it? Sorry for the long comment!

    • @SarahNicholls
      @SarahNicholls  Před 4 lety

      Sorry I just realised I gave this comment a heart and didn't reply!! Yeah I totally imagined that I had every disease we learnt about, and loads of my friends did too. I even went to the doctors about a couple of them. In a way its a good thing because you become more aware of your own body and what is normal and what isn't. Obviously visit your GP if you're concerned. I don't have any real advice other than it gets better! I don't think like this any more

    Loved this video.
    You’ll make a great EM medic. :)
    I am not foot phobic but I relate so much to the finger nails etc. If my feet itch ie it rains and they become little duckies swimming In my shoes - i can’t itch them with my fingers it makes me cringe
    I used to twist my feet on a carpet but I recently was at my mums house and she had a fircone and I scratched my foot with it over the sock and my goodness was it a relief.
    I now have about 6 fircones of my own....
    Strange phobia there - scratching my own feet but yeah. I know that finger feeling feeling
    Yeah my pet peeve is definitely (don’t hate me for this) people being late. I’m always early 15 minutes early it gives me time to park to get in to go to the toilet to wash my hands and to sit and just breathe for a second. If I’m running bang on time I get stressed - stress makes me run on adrenaline - heart gets faster I start feeling on edge and then bam asthma triggered. I can deal with that life I’d rather arrive 15-20 minutes early listen to a song and be calm. But that’s just me and 90% of the people in my life run late haha

    Oh, I can totally see you getting into aesthetic medicine, considering that so many videos from you are about you clothes. I reckon you will be a pretty good one. Is aesthetic medicine the branch that has plastic surgery / reconstructive surgery? That's a pretty important specialty.
    Have you thought about dermatology? I don't know if I told you this, but I completed a course of phototherapy treatment. My life quality definitely dramatically increased. I didn't even know my skin could be this healthy. It is definitely an important specialty - I really do appreciate it. I even sent a card to the phototherapy department.

    • @SarahNicholls
      @SarahNicholls  Před 4 lety

      Thank you! Yeah I've considered both dermatology and plastics but for various reasons they aren't quite right for me. I love that aesthetic medicine has the ability to give people their confidence, you're absolutely right about that.
      As always, thanks for watching 😊

    I watched the whole video! It was a fun video to watch. Did you get an offer for medical school after A Level, if so, what was the grade requirement? We did equally well at GCSE actually. My A*s / As / Bs are in the similar ballpark as you.

    I would never have thought you would go into aesthetics. I am really interested in injectables which I feel is a taboo thing to say. I just got an offer to study medicine (thanks for the inspo!) and am like you in that I want the variety EM brings. Will have to see if I can cope with the uncertainty and litigation risk in F1/2. How do you cope?

      Hi.first pf all congratulation for ypur offer and if u dont mind can u tell me your gcse and a level results and ur ucat score.I am in year 12 and want to do medicine and people have some crazy statistics and that scares me.Thanks in advance

      frank replier thanks for your message. I can't speak as an authority on this by any means, but I can definitely encourage you.
      I am a grad applicant so my good degree results definitely made up for my secondary school results.
      I did well on this year's UCAT but it took a lot of practice (1-2hrs per day over 10 weeks or so). This definitely helped make my application stand out more.
      This was in my second attempt with now achieved results so this may have also helped.
      Keep trying and get as much long term experience which you can reflect on as you can. You will get an interview somewhere eventually if you try hard enough.
      There are many schools which also have widening participation offers and access courses if you are eligible.

      Hello, unfortunately uncertainty and litigation risk is something all doctors face. In F1/2 you are somewhat protected because you are supervised more heavily so you are protected by your seniors. If someone makes a complaint about you, you will most likely get feedback but if someone tries to sue, they will be suing the hospital not you personally.

      frank replier other peoples scores don’t matter. Some people get straight a stars and some people can’t even get AAA at a level but still get into medicine. Luckily in the U.K. the standards aren’t too high so chin up just apply and see what happens. I know some medics who can’t even do their time tables!

      Hello, no I still have £60k+ student debts, but they come out of my pay each month and never into my bank account, so I don't really notice it. My pay varies now as I am a locum, meaning I get paid different amounts depending on shift pattern. My pay over the last 12 months has been about £39k
