Barcelona’s “Identity Crisis”: Failed Transfers , An Aging Team & the Decline of La Masia
What’s wrong with FC Barcelona? Are Barcelona in decline? In this video we’ll explore what has contributed to Barcelona’s slip from their perch as the world’s best team one decade ago under Pep Guardiola. They still remain competitive in La Liga, but Barcelona’s Champions League collapses vs AS Roma in 2018 and vs Liverpool in 2019 add further turmoil to this aging, mentally shaken club that relies far too often on Lionel Messi to save them. Should Ernesto Valverde have been sacked earlier, and how has Josep Bartomeu and the Barcelona board contributed to this slip? Has Quique Setien lost the respect of the players, and should Setien leave Barcelona?

And it's probably a great deal for Juve since they are also considered a team full of old players and injecting some new blood in the mix will be great for them, they have a good attack and Dybala is shaping up to be one of the best strikers, they just need a creative midfield and they should also invest in their defense and get some younger players there, another thing that Juve urgently needs but might not be able to get is Higuain's replacement, he's old but getting a top tier player costs a lot of money.

Imagine if your teacher is scared of his students
Real Madrid on the other hand have invested well in youth they have old player players in there prime and youngsters who are blended in very well in the team plus they have Zidane as their manager a football legend who many people admire

I don't know a single club that remained top 5 in the world for more than 10 years(I'm not saying that it never happened, but that these things are the exception rather than the norm in football), almost every single large club remained strong for a few years then started declining. They stayed weak for some time then got back up or remained weak.
      Some great examples are:
arsenal: strong in the early 2000s then declined.
Liverpool: was weak for a long time but got back up in around 2017/2018.
Inter: triple in 2010 then declined(it looks like they are coming back now).

It is a surprise if you look at their decisions . The squad quality has declined with each transfer . Its not that ,that the player was not good enough but the player they bought has different mentality than FCB's which was shown clearly in their games . Barca , now for a long time revolves around Messi as a distributor and provider ,bringing same kind of player(Coutinho) won't help the squad much . I think they just saw the price and club of the player and bought anyone within top 3 team of any top league they picked in a blind draw . Usually the midfielder or defender is the best way be a captain. It's was prove in many games like Zidane, Requilme, Cafu, Dunga, Thomas Muller, Xabi Alonso, Pirlo, Maldini, Puyol and many. Need to remember middle and last are developing games and finishing striker. If striker concern about middle that's what happens to Messi right now.

A revisit to watch this video after that result against Bayern. Adrian, I must say this analysis puts everything in perspective regarding the 8-2 losing display we witnessed against Bayern!!! What you presented here is the best analysis/explanation I have heard to try to come to terms with what is Barca FC 2020! Great work Adrian and the team!!!!

Thanks for being more honest and sincere that most videos, and honestly, most Barca fans I have been talking lately. Im not a Barca fan, I didn't like Valverde, but there are videos our there titled along the lines of 'How Valverde destroyed Barcelona' and it simple goes way more deep than that.
This is an institutional crisis and there is people out there blinded to that fact.

No no no. Everyone has a part yes but the players lose control if they are allowed to and they have been allowed by the managers and board too long. If you simply sell the likes of Suarez Alba and the others will solve the issues like that

Sir Alex Ferguson said many years ago how lucky Barca were to have a squad like they had that comes around once in a generation with the likes of Mess, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique and the like. Much like when Man Utd dominated the English game when their generation of top young players came through. Barca need to rebuild or face years in the wilderness and only have to look to Utd to see what can and will happen.
