    Today I'm going to teach you how to clean a very dirty carpet.
    Carpet Cleaner: www.amazon.com/Bissell-ProHea...
    Vacuum: www.amazon.com/Shark-DuoClean...
    Cleaner Solution:
    3 oz of laundry detergent I'm using Tide
    3 oz of Clorox 2 for colors
    5 drops of dish soap, I'm using Kirkland brand
    A splash of LA's totally awesome cleaner. I found mine at the dollar tree. Walmart also carries it. (only use if your carpet is really dirty)

    The judgment in this comment section... I'd much rather see the results on an actually dirty carpet than watch someone shampoo a carpet that they already clean every other day for social media clicks. If it works on this carpet, it'll surely work on mine. That's all I need to know. No judgment necessary.

      👏👏👏👏👏. On point !! With children it’s easy to get like this especially if you haven’t had a carpet cleaner before now. I’m just cleaning a dark grey carpet 10x8. But it’s good to see great results

    Great video. A couple of tips if I may. Only use carpet cleaner solution. Mixing all these chemicals together isn't a good idea. Adding fabric softener and laundry detergent can gel up the machine.
    To get the red stains out you need steam. If you clear club soda, a steam iron and a ferry towel you can get the red stains out. Pour some club soda over the stain, put the ferry towel over the stain and soda and then use your steam iron and press down on top of the ferry cloth. Stain will come up

    It’s helpful to rinse the carpets with just water or a mix of water with vinegar after you use a soapy solution to neutralize the carpets pH. It stops them from getting dirty so quickly because when you leave soap on a carpet and it gets wet then it reactivates the cleaner and makes the carpet act more like a cleaning rag than just a neutral carpet.

    • @fatbarbiee
      @fatbarbiee Před 3 lety

      Should the mix be 50/50 or follow the "formula" guide but using vinegar? Or a different amount? 😁

    • @aval5098
      @aval5098 Před 3 lety +11

      @@fatbarbiee okay I wish I had a better answer to this but the answer is kind of just “it depends” so I’ll try to explain.
      The easiest answer is *if* I’m using vinegar in my machine I dilute it to the formula line or less, just because my cleaners that I’m trying to balance are never usually that strong.
      First, if you use a neutral pH carpet cleaner you don’t need to rinse with vinegar at all (because if it’s neutral and you do that you’ll be leaving your carpet acidic). Most carpet/fabric cleaners are kind of basic/alkaline.
      For the overly technical answer: I’m sure there is an exact science got this, but I don’t have it. We are talking about balancing out the ph, to balance/neutralize you want to bring it back to ph7 (the same as water). If you used a very basic/alkaline let’s say ph12 cleaner then I would probably add more vinegar than if I was using something closer to 7, like a ph9. You could definitely get test strips and figure out how aggressive your cleaner is, but mostly it’s just trial and error. You know how if you get bleach on your hands it feels very slippery? That’s a characteristic of alkaline and bleach is very alkaline.
      For the simpler answer, Because vinegar is so strong of an acid I wouldn’t say you need 50/50. To keep it simple I would probably use from the water line to the formula line, or even less. Just remember that it’s about balancing out. Tbh, you’d be surprised how much a difference a plain rinse (with just water and no) vinegar makes to the final result. For me vinegar is the extra mile.
      You can probably google the ph of most cleaners. Just for example, I recently learned pinesol is very acidic, and if you use it on grout it actually makes your grout dirtier over time because concrete/grout is naturally alkaline and the the acid begins to break it down. So I only use basic cleaners like Lysol on the floors for that reason.
      Sorry this is long, I know there are tons of “cleaning hacks/life hacks” out there and really you just want to make sure that you’re doing what fits your situation best. Not all of them are good advice for everyone.
      Hopefully this helps, but if you want a better answer feel free to leave details.
      What kind of carpet is it? Have you cleaned it before (with/without rinsing)? Do you have any “natural body/pet stains/enzyme” stains? What cleaner do you use in your machine? Just add anything you think is helpful and I’ll do my best. I’ve done so much research at this point that I should start a cleaning channel lol.

      @@aval5098 Wow thank you so much for your response! That is a lot of great information!
      I actually just purchased a used couch from a thrift store and am trying to find the best way to clean it 😁
      I got the bissell pro max 4x cleaner solution, but my machine began to leak so i was going to test other 'diy' mixes in this machine while waiting for bissell to send the replacement. So i dont leak the expensive cleaner all over the floor lol.
      I didnt know about rinsing the carpets after soapy solutions so thats great info to have!
      In your opinion, do the soapy "diy" mixes work better than the expensive bissell cleaner solutions? Or how would they compare, in your opinion?
      Thank you so much for your time and the info! I would definitely watch your cleaning channel or read your blog 😁

    • @aval5098
      @aval5098 Před 3 lety

      @@fatbarbiee hey I’m so sorry for the late response.
      I think it’s always going to depend on your cleaning needs and the material/situation.
      For the couch I think it’s worth it to do the expensive solution if you feel like you’re not getting anywhere with diys. What material is the couch, how dirty is it?
      Personally, I’d also be concerned about sanitizing and for that I’d use the lysol laundry sanitizer (but I suppose you’d need to test a small spot and check that it won’t damage it) i would dilute it because it’s designed to be used in the washing machine anyway, so it would be diluted in there. I’d probably use that in the machine and spray let it sit for a little and extract. After I did that then I’d go for the bissell solution.
      We don’t wear shoes in my house and my carpets have always been well maintained, even before I owned a home carpet cleaner. I’d say never go more powerful than you need. For example, someone I know just moved into a brand new house, and the carpets are new, but probably a little dusty from nearby construction. So for that I don’t think it’s worth it to use the bissell 4x solution because it’s so expensive. Instead I used one of those pressurized pump sprayers and put a very diluted mix of oxi clean laundry detergent and water. Then I just used hot water and did a light run with the bissell because I didn’t feel like they needed to be soaked.
      How are your diy mixes working out?

Also recommend getting a steam clean twice a year especially after a deep clean how u did . They'll get out those stubborn stains and professionals will also direct you to where u can get the dye for those colorful stains that won't lift.
