- How To Clean a Really Dirty Carpet | Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution
Today I'm going to teach you how to clean a very dirty carpet.
Carpet Cleaner: www.amazon.com/Bissell-ProHea...
Vacuum: www.amazon.com/Shark-DuoClean...
Cleaner Solution:
3 oz of laundry detergent I'm using Tide
3 oz of Clorox 2 for colors
5 drops of dish soap, I'm using Kirkland brand
A splash of LA's totally awesome cleaner. I found mine at the dollar tree. Walmart also carries it. (only use if your carpet is really dirty) - Jak na to + styl
The judgment in this comment section... I'd much rather see the results on an actually dirty carpet than watch someone shampoo a carpet that they already clean every other day for social media clicks. If it works on this carpet, it'll surely work on mine. That's all I need to know. No judgment necessary.
👏👏👏👏👏. On point !! With children it’s easy to get like this especially if you haven’t had a carpet cleaner before now. I’m just cleaning a dark grey carpet 10x8. But it’s good to see great results
Judgement? Or shock. She used fabric softener on the carpet. That’s a huge no.
@@NatalieWarren13 I was talking specifically of the judgment about the dirty carpet.
Great video. A couple of tips if I may. Only use carpet cleaner solution. Mixing all these chemicals together isn't a good idea. Adding fabric softener and laundry detergent can gel up the machine.
To get the red stains out you need steam. If you clear club soda, a steam iron and a ferry towel you can get the red stains out. Pour some club soda over the stain, put the ferry towel over the stain and soda and then use your steam iron and press down on top of the ferry cloth. Stain will come up
It’s helpful to rinse the carpets with just water or a mix of water with vinegar after you use a soapy solution to neutralize the carpets pH. It stops them from getting dirty so quickly because when you leave soap on a carpet and it gets wet then it reactivates the cleaner and makes the carpet act more like a cleaning rag than just a neutral carpet.
Should the mix be 50/50 or follow the "formula" guide but using vinegar? Or a different amount? 😁
@@fatbarbiee okay I wish I had a better answer to this but the answer is kind of just “it depends” so I’ll try to explain.
The easiest answer is *if* I’m using vinegar in my machine I dilute it to the formula line or less, just because my cleaners that I’m trying to balance are never usually that strong.
First, if you use a neutral pH carpet cleaner you don’t need to rinse with vinegar at all (because if it’s neutral and you do that you’ll be leaving your carpet acidic). Most carpet/fabric cleaners are kind of basic/alkaline.
For the overly technical answer: I’m sure there is an exact science got this, but I don’t have it. We are talking about balancing out the ph, to balance/neutralize you want to bring it back to ph7 (the same as water). If you used a very basic/alkaline let’s say ph12 cleaner then I would probably add more vinegar than if I was using something closer to 7, like a ph9. You could definitely get test strips and figure out how aggressive your cleaner is, but mostly it’s just trial and error. You know how if you get bleach on your hands it feels very slippery? That’s a characteristic of alkaline and bleach is very alkaline.
For the simpler answer, Because vinegar is so strong of an acid I wouldn’t say you need 50/50. To keep it simple I would probably use from the water line to the formula line, or even less. Just remember that it’s about balancing out. Tbh, you’d be surprised how much a difference a plain rinse (with just water and no) vinegar makes to the final result. For me vinegar is the extra mile.
You can probably google the ph of most cleaners. Just for example, I recently learned pinesol is very acidic, and if you use it on grout it actually makes your grout dirtier over time because concrete/grout is naturally alkaline and the the acid begins to break it down. So I only use basic cleaners like Lysol on the floors for that reason.
Sorry this is long, I know there are tons of “cleaning hacks/life hacks” out there and really you just want to make sure that you’re doing what fits your situation best. Not all of them are good advice for everyone.
Hopefully this helps, but if you want a better answer feel free to leave details.
What kind of carpet is it? Have you cleaned it before (with/without rinsing)? Do you have any “natural body/pet stains/enzyme” stains? What cleaner do you use in your machine? Just add anything you think is helpful and I’ll do my best. I’ve done so much research at this point that I should start a cleaning channel lol.
@@aval5098 Wow thank you so much for your response! That is a lot of great information!
I actually just purchased a used couch from a thrift store and am trying to find the best way to clean it 😁
I got the bissell pro max 4x cleaner solution, but my machine began to leak so i was going to test other 'diy' mixes in this machine while waiting for bissell to send the replacement. So i dont leak the expensive cleaner all over the floor lol.
I didnt know about rinsing the carpets after soapy solutions so thats great info to have!
In your opinion, do the soapy "diy" mixes work better than the expensive bissell cleaner solutions? Or how would they compare, in your opinion?
Thank you so much for your time and the info! I would definitely watch your cleaning channel or read your blog 😁
@@fatbarbiee hey I’m so sorry for the late response.
I think it’s always going to depend on your cleaning needs and the material/situation.
For the couch I think it’s worth it to do the expensive solution if you feel like you’re not getting anywhere with diys. What material is the couch, how dirty is it?
Personally, I’d also be concerned about sanitizing and for that I’d use the lysol laundry sanitizer (but I suppose you’d need to test a small spot and check that it won’t damage it) i would dilute it because it’s designed to be used in the washing machine anyway, so it would be diluted in there. I’d probably use that in the machine and spray let it sit for a little and extract. After I did that then I’d go for the bissell solution.
We don’t wear shoes in my house and my carpets have always been well maintained, even before I owned a home carpet cleaner. I’d say never go more powerful than you need. For example, someone I know just moved into a brand new house, and the carpets are new, but probably a little dusty from nearby construction. So for that I don’t think it’s worth it to use the bissell 4x solution because it’s so expensive. Instead I used one of those pressurized pump sprayers and put a very diluted mix of oxi clean laundry detergent and water. Then I just used hot water and did a light run with the bissell because I didn’t feel like they needed to be soaked.
How are your diy mixes working out?
@@aval5098 What is a good neutral ph carpet cleaner? I can't find any.
Thank you for doing this on actually dirty carpets!
This was a video i needed to see! I'm tired of watching videos of cleaning an already clean looking carpet! My stains didn't come up very well but I've got some better ideas now. Thanks!
This is AMAZING!! And, honestly, it made me feel not that bad about myself because my carpets are just as dirty, lol... Thanks again!
Omg the before surprises me more than the after
Lol
I think you overwet this carpet pretty fast. Instead of doing many overlaps you should pre-spray entire surface, then wait ~30 minutes, scrub it thoroughly with hard rice brush and then wash with the Bissell.
Great job! I just cleaned my downstairs family room and found that Folex Carpet Spot Remover was an excellent pre-treatment for all the spots. We had one horrible grease stain that I thought would never come out--a few shots of Folex and on the first pass with the Bissell and it was gone!
Carpet looked ready to be binned. However you cleaned it up. Maybe not to some peoples standards but you did your best. Well done.
Thanks for the video. I just bought mine and I wanted to see how well it cleaned.
Thank you for this dear!!!💜
For tough stains, step on the front to push the brushes into the carpet, it sucks up everything and leaves it almost dry.
Great improvement good job
You did a great job, that looked like a tough clean.
You can get the red stains out with ammonia damp towel and a cheap iron
thats exactly what i was going to say lol
Hi guys I had some paint drops and red pa8nt drops does this work too
I have that same carpet cleaner and it is awesome and do you have a robot vacuum if you do what one is it
Wow thank you this was very helpful now I have hope for my dirty carpets 😁✌🏿
That red dye aint no joke. Nice results.
Try zote bar soap! I had a big one on my carpet with blue paint!! And I scrub it out with zote and fabuloso ..
To get rid of the red stains. pour ammonia on them cover with a white towel. put iron on the rag the rag pulls out the red. You can repeat but let the carpet cool between sessions.
Good review . It was real. Unlike most I seen. Also for the pink stain there are dyes to dye your carpet for when u get spills like tht . Also recommend getting a steam clean twice a year especially after a deep clean how u did . They'll get out those stubborn stains and professionals will also direct you to where u can get the dye for those colorful stains that won't lift.
Hi. Did it leak water before you turn on the machine?
Good job, did this to my daughters room. Her room carpet was just as bad. Looks like you got better results than I did. I tried Zep solution and oxyclean carpet stain remover. Again.....good job, thanks for posting your vid!
Google baking soda/peroxide mixture for cleaning. Will get definitely get those stsins out. Enjoy ☺️
Would love to see a followup video if you figure out how to get the popsicle stain out!
I actually had one on my carpet I used this awesome on the spot put a damp white cloth then used my iron to steam it and it came up
Satisfying
Good job!
Wonderful
do you have this with original sounds?
Thanks
Your carpets would have gotten much cleaner if you used real carpet solution. La's awesome is not great for your machine or carpet.
Also she used the machine more like a vacuum and didn't seem to use the correct slower motion.
@@gannicusnobody7782 She sped up the video.
Kids n pets is a great stain remover and pre treater
My girls makes mg carpet had matte lipstick and ice cream stain and paint so so on the Kong thing the TJ can get it off completely is I use dishwasher detergent mix with laundry detergent, which is the one that have stain remover and u use a drop of Don soap and super hot hot water and I would stray some one the hard stain area and let it sit for 5 min and then use the rest of the formula into the tank and carpet cleaning and it actually removed the stain really really good. You might have to do 2 to 3 to make it completely gone.
I enjoy your video make some more
Believe it or not... Windex works wonders on tough stains... Idk why but it's like magic! We use it at the car wash for big detail jobs when we can't get stains out of the upholstery. Try it..... You'll see what I mean..
This was awesome!
Nice
What would y'all suggest, this machine or a Kirby?
Do we have to keep pressing the handle while cleaning or only for spray we use handle button.
??
Only when spraying you press the trigger
add alchol 80% on a stain and let it set for a while, then wipe it off....
You didn’t use the carpet shampoo from dissell?
I will be using my carpet shampooer for the first time and i am concerned about exactly how long this carpet dries before we can walk on it because i have a dog and also kids and we all walk normally where the dirtiest parts are. Or, does it actually dry immediately..?
I usually try to clean carpets after everyone goes to bed just to minimize foot traffic. The towel suggestion above me is a good idea also. 🙂
Dawn, peroxide, & baking soda scrub and let sit. It should clean right up!
Try Oxy-Clean to remove the red stain.
God bless you. Jesus loves you.
The Bissell Enzyme solution takes the Red out.
Maybe I'm hearing things but,did I hear you say this carpet is not that dirty? I had a friend of mine tells me all the time when I ask him how to get out certain stains. DELUTE,DELUTE,DELUTE.DULUTE. He's been cleaning carpets for probably close to 50 years. He's definitely old school, but he stays extremely busy. Plus he charges a ton, seems to me it was around 200 bucks too clean a small 2 bedroom home,it's like 3 times that now. Crazy or maybe I'm just a little older. ???
Yes Red Stains Are Hard To Get Out But I Bet You If You Clean It A Few More Times That Red Stain Will Come Out But First Try Soap And Hot Water On The Red Stain Then Wait 5 Minutes Then Dry It Then Use Your Machine I Hope This Was Helpful I Have Red Stain Problem My Self
You have to do a special treatment for red stains.
Okay Thank You But I Was Trying To Be Helpful Red Stains Are Hard To Remove Somethings I Tried Very Thing To Get Red Stains Out And Nothing Works I Show You The Red Stains That I Can't Get Out
Do You Email Or A Instagram Or Facebook ? I Can You Show The Red Stain I'm Talking About
Go To My CZcams Channel The Red Stain Is On There In A Video
The carpet looks blue now😅
The carpet is still visibly dirty.
Why don't you use a small cleaning brush on the stain, to lossen it up with some bleech and hot water, and then use the machine to Rinse.
OxiClean!!!!!
non of the soluction your yousing is not for cleani9ng
Put oxyclean in there and let it rip
Great video! However, please consider using a real carpet cleaning brand. They are not very expensive but they can pack a powerful punch to the carpet.
How did u let your house get so freaking dirty ???
Now I have decided that I don't need to waste my money on that carpet cleaner. It doesn't work so why bother?
It does work , I do recommend using the actual carpet solution will clean much better 😚
You don’t even show how to use it.
Some people houses !
Some people's grammar!
Nooooooo fabric softener on carpet!!!!! This is horrible advice. You’re attracting dirty and leaving residue in your carpet.
That's so gross 😝 how do you even let your carpet get that dirty
Stupid music in the background also
In two years? How many kids and pets do you have or is thisnlijw a foreclosure home you purchased and moved into. Just trying to understand how the carpet is so dirty after two years. I'm a wheelchair user and as you can imagine it'd much worse than wearing showed on in the house because they are larger so everyting outside comes inside but we haven't deep cleaned our carpet in longer than that still looks better the after in this video so just trying to understand how it could get like this. I guess I can see it in a house with a bunch if college students Eni party a lot but they doest look like a frat hours either.
Children are messy. Pets are messy. When I was a boy, my carpets looked even worse than that in the same amount of time.
You'll understand when you have kids. Specially toddlers. One of my sons would dead ass look me in the eye and soul every type of liquid he could. That's just how it's are. Pets drag poop from litter box , throw up and so on. Sometimes you're in a rush that is not possible to remove stains all the way. Sometimes it's things that are just hard to get out of carpet, even if you go at it right after.
@@eduardojlino so true! We just had our brand new carpet for 24 hours before my 2 yr old nephew pooped on it, and then the dog barfed on it!
Two years ? Who the hell lives there, a herd of buffaloes? It’s filthy. That will need proper shampooing treatment.
If she thinks that’s a satisfying job she must still be drunk from all the boxes of wine she spilled all over that carpet , still looks like ship just replace that carpet
She clearly said popsicle from her child...and why bother wasting money replacing the carpets if it gets that dirty anyways in 2 years?..just wait until the kids grow older

A pity the grotesque paths humans can go down.
Your standards of clean are "Third world" !
Omg 2 years? My carpet doesn’t look that bad in 12 years. They live like animals. Then said it looks good afterwards? Omg it still looks terrible.
Oh wow, aren't you Mr. Clean. Her carpets weren't even that bad before she cleaned.
Omg not everyone can be boujee clean like you ma lord
What a life you must be leading.
