- Check out Derek Jeter's performance in the 2000 World Series that earned him MVP honors.
Jeter was fantastic in his 4th World Series win, collecting 9 hits (2 important homers) and making several key defensive plays. Jeter's big moments of the series included a terrific relay throw to cut down a runner at home plate in Game 1, a lead-off homer in Game 4, and a game-tying solo homer in the Game 5 clincher.

It was his world series accomplishment. He was iconic in this subway series.
Jeter did it all, a once in a generation talent.
He was the definition of clutch
guy had a 13 game hitting streak in the world series, nothing else to say...
Thats insane, never knew that
Back when all was right with the world.
The 3-peat for the Yankees.
Great player, fine man and true sportsman with a great personality.
Love that inside out swing. Beautiful
I was 11 during the 2000 World Series. 10/08. Birthday about two weeks prior. I remember because Yankees were on brink of losing to Oakland and came all the way back to the beat them, and Seattle.
I was legit worried Mets were going to win. They played amazing. But I’m convinced even though they played great after, that lead off homer in game 4 won the series.
Look at the Yankees players struts. Everyone in that dugouts demeanor changed. Look at the Mets? Total dejection. Right there it wasn’t that it wouldn’t be close. Or that Mets couldn’t win: it’s that the Yankees felt they couldn’t lose.
I always believed the 99 season teams would have been a much better matchup. Both teams great but vulnerable. The 2000 series was closer than it appeared.

If Volpe develops enough to become half as good as Jeter hitting wise that would be great.

Happy Days
Derek Jeter single handedly beat the Mets.
If only the organization was 10% of what it was with Jeter
3:12 WHY Rodriguez was there?
He was friends with Jeter at the time.. he was supporting him and also scouting both teams for he would become a free agent after that world series
@@bxnyy28 Mets were also the favorites to sign Arod, and AROD wanted to be a Mets player since he grew up a Mets fan when they were popular in the 1980's
Lets go Yankees. I'm not scared of the Mets at all because their such a terrible team.
TGFTY. Thank God 4 the Yankees!
