This is the process I use to create the eyelid, assemble the buckram and lids, and install the eyes into the finished piece.

The eyelids really are such a cute finishing touch for the eyes!
Even if I have a technique I plan to use when making a mask, I still like to view other peoples work. I find there's always a tip or suggestion, or another way to do something that helps me out.

Just a quick idea while watching this: I think one could glue the the fleece tube from the first part to the back side of the eyeball, then pull it through the eye socket after attaching them and glue the rest of the tube to the inside of the mask.
This way it would provide a bit of pull to the eyes towards the face (preventing them from popping out from the fur) and completely separate the fur from getting into your eyes.

What do I do for eyelashes? I'm a beginner and I haven't seen any tutorials saying what to use if I want eyelashes.
I *THINK* that you add it on the fur pattern
You can use fleece or felt to make eyelash shapes and then hot glue them onto the eyes.
I make eyelashes by taking pipecleaners and bending them to the shape I like around the eyes. I cover them in fabric and cut them out

A few years ago, when I was making my first fursuit head, I bought buckram for my fursuit eyes and I could NOT see through it AT ALL. I ended up using plastic mesh with verryyy small holes. (It's actually VERY good for seeing through, but it's hard to color/paint)
Are there different kinds of buckram that I should worry about? (I'm making my second head years later, and planning on using the plastic, but I'd like to know for any possible future projects.)
I'd also imaging painting it would be a pain, unless you had VERY thin paint, because otherwise it'd clog up the "holes" that you see through.
Advice from anyone would be appreciated!
It does, actually, thanks! For me, coloring the mesh with permanent markers wasn't that hard, but it fulled over time because the fixative i used didn't work in the plastic. Since I have yet to make the eyes for my second suit, I'll try out your method. ^^

Can this also work for a full surround, such as an eye socket? I want to add some depth, and an aggressive, yet cute look to my head once I build it.
also if you are going to use buckram for the whole eye make sure you get fun foam (cant remember the name of it as im in the uk) to wrap around the buckram to make it easier to install the eyes and make the following eyes

What materials do you use for coloring the eye?
May Rain I would recommend Copic markers, but they're quite expensive. And alternative could be very thin paint or sharpies.
I don't recommend sharpies, I used them for my first mask and in winter the colours started bleeding because of the humidity. My eyes were solid black and creepy.
Alcohol based markers or some sort of paint.

As for the eyelids, would that method work for Resin eyes? I know next time I'll stick with foam heads >n
do you have to use the foam sheets on the whites of the eyes or can you leave them as just the buckram for extra vision???
Why don't you add the eye before the fur?
Blue hound Llama usually, you wanna have all the fur glued on first. First, most people usually shave down the fur, and so that the eyes don't get ruined in the gluing process (I've accidentally put the eyes in first before and I've gotten glue on them). It's just easier! :3

if you put black on the back it helps you see better through the buckram

I make paper patterns and trace them onto the buckram so they are both the same shape and size.

Reno - buckram fabric, painted with thin (but not watery) acrylics in light coats to not clog the holes. blow puffs of air at it as you're painting to get rid of extra paint. have a paper towel underneath for the spatter.
Where can you get that plastic mesh?
You can buy it via fabric stores (I purchased mine at Joann for $5/yard. Using calculations, you might need less than a yard; I got about 1/4 yard, which is less expensive!) It is under the name of buckram. I've heard you'll have to ask for it under the counter. You can color the eyes by painting the mesh with acrylic paint (layer by layer. if not, the holes will clog). :)
Where can you find buckram? I live in Canada and I've already checked michaels and I can't find anything, if anyone can help that would be great :)

Love Killed That's really disrespectful towards the maker. They work HARD and labor for hours to make these suits. Many people also pay thousands for fursuits to be custom made for them, and you come along and ask for one for free? No.
