Una interpretazione favolosa e, credo, difficilmente ripetibile. Solo Michelangeli, con il suo tocco, sa ricavare dal pianoforte una incredibile varietà di sonorità, tutte di cristallina purezza e bellezza.
Ma nessuno si accorge che lo strumento sul quale suona ha un timbro e una dinamica potenziale totalmente diversi da qualunque altro strumento su cui suonano gli altri? Frutto di una preparazione da parte dei tecnici ossessiva e iperbolica.
One of my favourite 32 sonatas. Real concert piece! Perfetto!

He used two different pianos in the same concert, one just for Debussy?! That’s amazing! Could you hear any difference between the pianos?
Come on Frank! Not true!! ABM not the greatest! ABM no flow! No rhythmic vitalness! No genius! Really the greatest Wilhelm Kempff( the most beautiful sound!) Grigory Sokolov( the Giant! The Titan of Piano!) Emil Gilels( the King!) Artur Rubinstein( the GOD!) Sviatislav Richter Radu Lupu( the most colorful piano sound!) ABM played second-rated concertos like Mozart no 15! Haydn G major! Liszt no 1! ABM never played the best piano concertos like JS Bach 1052! Rachmaninov 1-3! Chopin 1-2 Brahms 1-2 Prokofiev 1-3 Saint-Saens no 2 Thaikovsky no 1!

It's not a problem of sound quality or acoustic.
When I listen to music, I do not care about sound quality. It's for me a nonsensical point.
The real point for me is that Michelangeli is making Beethoven as a dead corpse.
His (pseudo) "classicism " is a very toxic poison to living music.
So Barenboïm too.
And yes, you guessed perfectly right, Artur Schnabel is my idol.

Dear Mr. Walsh,
- "pseudo-classicism" is the (wrong) way to play a warm music like an arrogant fridge.
- the point that I am not interested about acoustic is not a "lack" of sensibility (why are you insulting me, you asshole ?) , but a very conscious will of myself, as privileging music and not ear comfort.
- I do not judge church acoustic, but recording acoustic.
- If Michelangeli was synesthesic, yes, but he could have played with sensibility. Which is not the case.
- I use the words I choose. Even if you are pleased or not.
And yes, safety in music is stupid, even more, it's a treason, in many, many works a pianist is interpretating.
