Saw them in Ireland supporting Cattle Decapitation. Their newer songs that they played off this album sounded like a really cool step up from their older stuff.

Great review. I totally agree that 200 Stab Wounds are fucking awesome. Everything they have released has been amazing, and this album is no exception. “Manual Manic Procedures” could easily be the best album released in 2024.

Can I just say, as a big black metal fan, I absolutely love this album and the band. They're so underrated. I wouldn't be the biggest fan of DM (apart from Death) but this band are so groovy, ripping and brutal!!

Broski, you’re overlooking a TON of dope death metal.
Check out Dismember’s debut, Carnage’s Dark Recollections, Incubus’ Serpent Temptation, Mortuary’s Blackened Images, Exhumed’s Horror

So excited to hear this record. I loved slave to the scalpel and their ep masters of morbidity was pretty great. They seem to be following in the footsteps of cannibal corpse where they release a record, then tour relentlessly to support it.

  • @nulltheory2560

I like them because they're just horror-movie style music. Songs like Masters of Morbidity, Skin Milk, Drilling Your Head, etc., can all be put into gore movies. Are they the most original band? No, early Death and Cannibal Corpse were doing what they were doing well before. HOWEVER, I think what separates them apart is just how raw and hard it is. Just straight caveman headbanging music -- but also the addition of hardcore aspects and more "spacey", "dark ambient" (like melody near the end of Masters) and thrash influences (like Parricide) just mixes so well. It's literally straight up evil music, exactly what death metal is

I don’t even care for this band but J Dawg is such a gatekeeping cornball. Dude has the worst taste in metal. Not to mention he thinks illud divinum is Morbid Angel’s best album. He deserves to lose his channel for that embarrassing ass opinion alone. That album is a travesty. He holds low opinions of literally anything that doesn’t sound generic af.

I love 200 Stab Wounds and I got their album yesterday early in the mail and gave it a listen and it’s a solid banger. Like you said the band isn’t reinventing the genre but I think the band does a great job of including other genre influences into their music as well, the beginning of Hands of Eternity gives me welcome home sanitarium vibes and a lot of the solos have a nasty Slayer feel to them. The band is the right amount of playful when it comes to throwing genres together without taking focus away from the death metal aspects of the music like while it can have thrashy moments you’re still being bludgeoned with death metal, I can’t wait to see where these guys go next!
