Even though Ron and Don are still doing their thing on HNIC, they need to have a studio at the arena that they can go into on a regular basis again. Right now it's just in a studio at the CBC in Toronto. It looks better when they talk to players in studio right after the game. Those were the days.
I thought Grapes said Bobby Orr was the best player who ever played in the NHL:-) ;-) I remember though when Dougie Gilmour lifted the spirits of us Leaf fans back in '93, it's a shame it didn't last much longer soon after; but he was an awesome player while the Leafs that year:-)

kadri doesnt play with the same edge to his game but he probably is more skilled. gilmour was a very good player though and kadri's gonna be a star. this is from a habs fan...
Lemieux was French and soft, even though he literally came back midseason from cancer that year, and played through severe back issues, and won the scoring title handily with 160pts, despite missing 24 games. Leave it to Don Chery, to root for the man who raped a 13 year old girl in the 80''s, because he's a good Anglo Canadian boy. That being said, Gilmour was really good that year, and you could argue he was the best player in the league, in the same way some people used to argue Trottier was better than Gretzky in the early 80's. He was a more complete player than Lemieux and dominated at both ends of the ice.
Doug Gilmour was a great player and any team would love a guy like that - when he came to Montreal in the twilight of his career I was very impressed with how good he still was. But one of the best ever of all time? Please. One of the best players the Leafs have had (that didn't win a Cup?)...yeah, I'll give you that one.
at his peak from 92-94 he was one of the best all around players in the world, and has the most combined playoff/regular season points from that time frame along with a selke trophy. he also finished second in hart trophy voting to mario lemieux during that incredible 92-93 season. And yes he DID win a cup in '89, with Calgary. He scored the cup winning goal against montreal and the empty netter in game 6 at the forum. he was one of the key guys in that playoff run along with Al McInnis and Joe Mullen especially during the final.
