      I have an 1999 600cc TTR enduro. Is there any 450 size enduro that is with the same maintenence level? I just change oil, filter and just ride.
      I dont want a bike that i have to change oil and half of motorparts after 100 hours of driving. Any recomendations...im total noob in the matter.
      I just enjoy enduro as a hobbie...only the driving part...i hate the fixing part :D

    Do yourself a favour, and when you change your front sprocket for the first time, switch out the dome washer for an aftermarket one. The factory ktm dome washer goes flat after a little while and your bike will end up leaking oil all over the chain. Also keep an eye on the swing arm where the shock connects as the rubber from the mudguard can wear away at the swing arm. Great choice for a bike, I'm sure you'll have a blast

    Keep up the great work! Got myself a 2021 FE450 as a first bike (second really, the first one fell victim to some asshole with a cordless angle grinder) and present to myself heading into my 50's. All my friends thought I was completely off my rocker and that impression just got worse when I sank almost as much again into it to kit it out as a long range rally bike.
    I've yet to do a single stage of actual rally, but as a consolation prize the Swedish TET is 2841km of mostly gravel road so I get my go-fast kicks there instead. For now.

  • @mototrailz
    @mototrailz Před 2 měsíci +7

    If only rallies would accept 500 cc then the unicorn will be the 500 EXC so much more confortable engine, less revving and more useable torque when needed. Especially in the dunes, tried one recently. Looking forward to your videos on the bike 👍

    • @KRANKiT
      @KRANKiT  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Most rallies do actually accept bikes over 450cc, it’s mostly Dakar that banned them. Actually, in most rallies, the 500cc class is pretty popular these days!

    • @mototrailz
      @mototrailz Před 2 měsíci +3

      @@KRANKiT yes i know but i was referring to FIM rallies with real navigation. I know Hellas can we done with a 890 for instance but i was talking about rallies like Abu Dhabi, Ruta 40, Rallye du Maroc…etc where a 500 would be ideal except that you need fuel range and those accessories don’t hold up the brutality of those rallies. There is a reason why people invest in a 450 rally replica when they are serious about it. My buddy vincent just did Dakar 2024 with a 3 years old 450 rally replica and he je had zero problems aside from crashing on day one 😂. My point is when you do those small rallies like yes KTM enduro can do it but for the real deal you cannot cheap out of on the bike.

    • @KRANKiT
      @KRANKiT  Před 2 měsíci +3

      For sure, I agree ... I wouldn’t “cheap out” if I were to do the Dakar either, and in desert rallies the big bikes could be better.

    • @mototrailz
      @mototrailz Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@KRANKiT then back to the original discussion since you are doing those small rallies…why not a 500. Bit more money but so much better than 450

    • @KRANKiT
      @KRANKiT  Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@mototrailz main reason is because I prefer a slightly more playful engine, price wise they’re similar enough to where that was not a factor. Also, if I ever do decide to do some fim stuff, it will make life easier with classes. But mainly, I preferred the engine. Personal preference mostly

    Good vid. Interesting insight. I like KTMs (Husky and GasGas also) because their bikes just feel right, specially in the suspension department. Not perfect, but fine as a starting point. I used to own a Yam WR450 (2008 model). The suspension was never right. The front didn't match the rear.

    as a ktm user, husky and gas gas i have to say that they break just way too much, the clutch blows up, the engine tends to eat the valves and the chain for the valves needs frecuent manteninence, they are fast and can get anything done, but in terms of reliability i'll rather stick with a honda or a sherco even (they also break down but its usually crankshaft)

    Nice video! Makes perfect sense to choose the 2024 450 for your purposes. When I choose the 2024 350 last September as I first dirt bike, I did it because It is all-round machine and it turn out to be exactly what I was expecting. These 2024 KTM enduro bikes are really good. Watch out for these custom clutch levers - I burned my clutch at 25 hour, because of one of these with the mechanical advantage.

      @KRANKiT  Před 2 měsíci +2

      From what I know, there shouldn’t be much difference between the 2. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s basically the same engine at its core

    • @HartyBiker
      @HartyBiker Před měsícem +2

      I'd imagine that the 500s are slightly more reliable. The engines are actually identical aside from the stroke length, so the 450 revs quicker and higher, whereas the 500 has more torque. If I'm not mistaken, the 500 also has a slightly wider range gearbox, but other than that, the bikes are really identical. I think this video gets it right, the 450 is better at higher revs and ridden faster, and the 500 is more of a multi-purpose machine. In many ways I wish I'd bought a 500 exc rather than a 450 because I have no intention to race, but they're both great bikes

Somehow he's better than PDS that's won oodles of championships on every continent for decades and needs only a $30 heim joint for maint every 3 years.. the same time frame that claps out 3 entire Japanese chassis.
