Aaron Rasey not exactly. honda was originally a engine brand so they have experience to build an engine that’s more powerful yet still more fuel efficient. toyota’s engine are more like, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it so they’re always reliable from the ground up. but saying honda makes be best is a bit much. ferrari currently has the best engine with 3.9 liter twin turbo that produce 660 hp in a 8cylinder but it’s definitely not the most reliable. bmw as well

I have the 2020 2.0 Civic and I have it set to where when it is put into park it unlocks, and when you take it into drive or reverse it locks. There is also an option that only once the driver's side door has been opened then the other doors will unlock. I imagine that would be hepful when kids are in the car.

Decent power and I love the fact it has no turbo which will give problems down the road . For the power it has it’s a great car for the great price I got . The infotainment system isn’t integrated into the dash very well at all but it still functions really well and actually doesn’t ruin driver visibility. The cvt is actually not bad either. Only complaint would be rear headroom for anyone 6’1 or taller. And if I had to get really picky, the sound system isn’t good but that’s an easy aftermarket upgrade. I agree the Civic is a cleaner look. I don't know why Toyota put the LCD screen where they did. I wish they would have left it integrated into the dash like they did in previous generations. Other than that, and the lack of rear cross traffic alert not being offered on the Civic, I don't think you could go wrong with either one. For me, the RCTA system is beneficial so it's a pretty easy choice for me. I can get over the radio/dash layout of the Corolla but do prefer the layout of the Civic better.
But another big factor for me (coming from a GM vehicle and having mostly American made vehicles in the past) is the reliability. While every company has had their ups and downs in terms of reliability, I feel that Toyota has maintained their overall reliability status with the Corolla. I mean ,the Corolla is a commuter car, the Civic is more of a sporty commuter car. But at the same time, I feel that the newer Civic's aren't as reliable as their older ones (like the 90's models). I feel they started to go downhill when they redesigned them in 2001 and thus lost out on things like reliability (the 2001-2002 Civics were not very reliable) to Toyota at that point. Plus also Toyota has the CVT thing down pretty good as they have been making them for 20+ years. Honda not quite as long, so from a reliability standpoing, I still think Toyota edges out Honda by a bit.
I would say thought if you do get a Corolla, get at least the SE With the 2.0L and the modified CVT with the actual take-off gear. Helps in multiple ways, one of which being less wear on the CVT (as CVTs don't handle torque all that well, compared to a regular transmission with actual gears).

I have owned both 2016 Civic & 2021 Corolla SE, I say CIVIC hands down. I think if you are more into exterior of the car, color is a big factor for both cars. My civic was blacked out with chrome accents making it sparkle in the day time, and mysterious at night. My corolla is the bright white with black & graphite accents making it much more noticeable. I agree that the civic handles much better on the road, and is much lower to the ground giving more of a sporty feel. Interior the civic was much roomer, I have 40" legs so there was plenty of room to stretch out and I notice that my knees are constantly knocking in the corolla. When it comes down to technology, corolla definitely has more bells and whistles with the 2021 model that they've expanded on through the Toyota app adding android play and alexa. The middle center console is bigger in the civc but it has larger cup holders, deeper storage, more compartment trays to easily conceal things (sunglasses, ez pass, coins, etc.).

$1000 trade in is criminal. The 2000 civic is a LEGENDARY car! They go for atleast $2-3k on the used market!

And if you've got a 2000 Si, you can get $6-10k

I've test-driven both, the Honda definitely handles better. The Toyota still handles well, but not quite as flickable. That's enough for me to choose the Honda, but it's a close call.

Mudassar Messi - no, you look biased. He chose the one he liked to drive more-that’s not biased. Biased is not accepting his decision because you don’t like the Civic.

For some reason, I don't see the new Corolla compared to civic. But when I do see it, it looks much more aggressive than it seems in video and pictures. Very pretty
