In this video, I invite you to travel along the Spice Road and discover how these mysterious spices, that were high-luxury goods for centuries, were brought to India, the Middle East and Europe. From the expansion of Austronesians to the Age of Discovery and Portuguese navigators, we explore what spices are, where they came from and why they were in such high demand.

I'm fine, and yes it has been rather chaotic but the disorders were worse 1 month ago.

My dear French Whisperer! I'm watching a show called "The Americans" there's a scene where a character is listening to your ASMR! Amazing! Season 4 Episode 1. You should be reimbursed for using your ASMR. Now I'm happy I've tried to watch this as it is not my taste in shows. You're speaking about railrodes & Agatha Christie's Muder on the Orient Express etc. Has anyone told you this??? All my love. 😘😘😘
Is this different than the spy TV show called The Americans set in the 1980s? I don't see ASMR fitting in that show's timeline.

Alot of people seem to be confused in the comments, Spicy food (burning by capsaicin) originated from the Americas specifically Mexico not Asia. Black Pepper came from India not to get confused by Chile peppers like the Spicy ones that are Hot and Sweets ones like bell Peppers originated from the Americas

Listening to this for the 3rd or 4th time because I still do not know the history of spices... have yet to make it through the whole thing without dozing off lol.
I always wonder how many of your intriguing props come from stuff you already owned and how many are purchased for the purpose of the videos.
it is 90% things I owned, and the same props keep coming back. I buy 1 or 2 things max for each video. For this one I just bought the spices.

One factual correction, though: There is still a spice that is worth its weight in gold -- saffron. At least in the USA, saffron costs more than an equivalent weight of 24k gold. Of course, saffron is extremely lightweight, so it is still affordable for most people if they really need it for a recipe.

I propose we all pitch in as much as we can and buy an island maybe a couple strung together and make Monsiuer Whisperer our constitutional monarch with his main duties being making ASMR videos, and maybe a weekly in person nighttime reading.
It will be the most peaceful ☮️ and calm place in the world and we can make extra islands for tourists who need the best relaxing get away. But yes we build those islands so they don’t accidentally poison our paradise.
