Thanks to our growing Patreon community, we are able to cover most the cost of our cherry picker rental!
Patreon funding goes directly toward renovating the historical Chateau de Lesigny!
Special thanks to our dear Patrons: Jesse, Bernadette, Theo, and Morgan for your outstanding support of this Beau Chateau!

Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week, we get Francis back to check on a few leaks that have been found around the chateau and dove tower. Ian continues landscaping around the garden, and we learn discover some unexpected problems around the domain.
Our "beau chateau" (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!
You can support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community, where you can also gain access to exclusive videos and behind the scene access with Daphne and Ian! All patron funding is used to renovate this historical French Chateau. Every patron is paramount to our chateau renovations and we thank you all tremendously!

Francis is definitely the James Bond of roofing, handsome, articulate, daring….. 😘
And a man who loves humor...and cheese😊
Daphne holding Sabrina within her coat and hearing that baby talk. So precious.
you guys are the masters of Chateau videos on CZcams, the cinematography, the music, the dialogue and content... awesome.
You my friend, just made our day 🥰
Who else thinks there's beautiful wood paneling under all that paint in the Gray room? 🙋♀🙋♀ (I loved the banter with Frances. Please keep us updated on the great cheese debate of 2023, we may need a video with a taste test!)
We will gladly do a cheese taste if given ANY reason 😁💕
Francis is a gem! Gift him lots of cheese! The garden looks so different tidied up, can’t wait to see it transform!
I ADORE YOU GUYS!!!Since I was 22 yrs old I have always wanted to buy an old abandoned place in the Scottish Highlands and restore it to near original condition or as close to original as possible anyway. I just turned 50 and still haven't even been to Scotland or on holiday at all. I am a bit jealous, I have to say. Some day I will do it........someday!!! Love you both!! BE CAREFUL!!!!!🥰😍
Francis is that typical french happily laughing at all the problems as long as he doesn’t have to pay for it! 😂🤦🏻♂️
The moose interlude got me 😂😂
You are so lucky to have Francis (and each other).
The nerd movie references are my favorite part ❤
Needing a bit of France in my life today. So, I am re-watching this video. Ian, if it is you who does all the filming and editing, bravo. The drone work at the roof of the Château when the flock of birds flew by, beautiful. 👏
Thank you for watching X2 👌
Yes, it is me (Ian) who films and edits all of our videos. The birds are paid actors that are never easy to work with. The drone shots get easier to do as I get more flight time in, but the birds are always on point 👍
I’m currently learning to fly FPV drones, so you can expect some very interesting drone shots in the near future!
@@TheBeauChateau Hahaha 🙌🏽🙌🏽. Looking forward to new drone shots.
🥰The pigeonnier is really cool!!🕊
I watched the 1st episode of Marie-Antoinette and I recognized your Château just as she was arriving at the gate!!😍
Yay!!! Isn’t it great?! We always get super excited when we see the chateau in other movies or shows 🥰
@@TheBeauChateau Yes! Awesome!🤩
Hi Maria, yes me too ❤
Ian has a good sense of humor. Again so glad your fixing up this beautiful chateau.
I would NOT be able to hear anything Francis says, because he is too charming & handsome! Good luck. ❤😊❤
Isn’t he the greatest?! 😄
@@TheBeauChateau between him and Ian’s dashing good looks & personality, you are in a very nice place! 🥰
I love how you put subtitles to the French. I know it's time consuming, but it's nice. Also, you'd think I'd pick up on some French with how many French dubbed shows I watch, but nah maybe someday.
Such a quintessentially French conversation... a discussion on who is the best cheese artisan 😂 😂😂 I'm sure this conversation lasted at least 20 minutes and it will resurface.
You are such hardworking people.
My heart goes out to you.
Just had my pipes burst and was told I need to repipe the entire house.
Sometimes you just have to spend a few days crying your heart out, feeling sorry for yourself and then you start looking for a solution to the problem.
Many blessings to you.
The new garden area will help generate income as location for photo shoots.
You’ve got this! Maybe not today but definitely tomorrow. 🙏❤️🙏❤️
I could watch your filmography of your chateau all day beautiful. Having watched so many restorations you are in better shape than most and seem on top of keeping your sanity doing this. Francis is a must have for you.
a voir aussi " le château de Purnon " 18eme siècle en restauration, classé Monuments Historiques !!!!
Francis had me laughing!!!! Great story teller, expert on cheese, and is hilarious 😂
Breathtaking videos once again. A special shout-out for your music selections. Very enjoyable. 🌺
Seriously! I watch all the Chateau channels and this ones filmed at a level you see from other professionals and the editing is spot on they even do subtitles to their French and I know that takes forever because I used to do subtiting on YT videos for other creators and brands.
I found this episode captivating. Sorry for the damage, I am glad you have been able to patch the roof on the main Chateau roof before it became severe. The tower is another job for another day.
Francis is a gem. Thank goodness he found that leak! Garden cleanup looking good.
Your little sister is adorable. It's wonderful to see your connection with her.
Francis gets around on the roof like he was born there. Just amazing! Here's tp hoping he found the one and only leak for now......Château roofs are s beast unto themselves!
Isn’t he awesome?! We didn’t get to show it, but it was extremely windy that day and it rained for a good 30 minutes while he was working on the chateau roof. He clearly doesn’t mind heights 😆
@@TheBeauChateau Simply amazing! I could handle the height and work as pong as I could work directly from the cherry picker, but I don't think I could do what he can do with anywhere near the stability. It also looks like with most cherry pickers accessing the moat side of the roof would be impossible. The skill of the tradesmen in France that are willing to work on Château seems top notch for the most part. You all have made such strides in the last year, I hope you are proud of what you have accomplished so far! Your Grandfather must be smiling down on you with all you have done so far. ❤️
Another great episode you two.
Very sad to hear about the many roof problems.
Keep up your positive attitudes.
Really enjoy Ian’s sense of humor.
The “mousse” lesson in particular, then “I’m twelve”
Maine USA
That is hillarious “la bete qui a manger” … you are all very funny
So many obstacles to overcome ; it is a miracle you have kept your enthusiasm and sense of humour… 18:52
Great interactions with Francis, did you settle the Cheese debate? The Garden looks more amazing, the more you uncover. Love the fun with Drones outtakes along with the fun French lessons with Ian! 😁
Hi Daphne and Ian. Another outstanding video. Every week your drone shots, cinematography and editing skills get better and better. Ian your sense of humor always makes me smile😁 and Daphne you and Sabrina are just the cutest. I look forward to your video every week and I can't wait to see what wonderful things 2023 brings your way.
It's wonderful to see those stairs appear out of the overgrowth. Great job, Ian. 👌 Daphne, you & your little sister are so cute together in the one jacket. 💗
Francis is a blessing!
Your sister is so cute.
Daphne’s banter with Francis over the best cheese maker is making me want to travel to Paris in the near future. He’s quite an interesting man, well spoken, charming, humorous, good looking and very daring…he even caught the wayward drone! I recently discovered your channel and have been catching up on all your videos. I must say, I’m loving every second of them. They are so much fun and absolutely breathtaking. Ian has the most charming personality. Daphne is beyond adorable, has a beautiful, soothing voice and the baby is precious. I will be watching your channel faithfully.
Such a sweet vlog. Oh but the repairs! Big hugs!
Everything in its time-what a wise statement. For all of life.
Your chateau is my favorite!!! It is spectacular!!! Absolute time rafinee
I am binging your videos and have to say I really appreciate your continued use of protective gear. I love watching reno videos but it stresses me out when people don't take the right precautions!! Fumes or wood dust get into your eyes and lungs and can cause many problems years later. It may seem you only breathe it in a little, but over the years of renovating a house or chateau it all adds up. Thank you for being safe and keep up the good work!
Daphne you are so wonderful!! You two really inspire!! Joyeax nouvelle anne🥰🥰
Merci beaucoup 🥰
Bonne année! Glad you guys were able to get Francis there to fix the roof. He seems like quite a character. Cheers-
Love your videos and look forward to each one! I watch many chateau videos and any couples do their own painting of rooms. I just watched Anna of “how to renovate your chateau without killing your partner”. Husband Philipp is very humouress and she has done so much painting,a large kitchen, bathrooms and they just finished their dining room/ salon. They closed their guest venue and vacation business to work on a few projects this coming year.Chateau dela Ferte owners,Adrian and Carole ,have wallpapered their dining salon and Carole has just finished ,painstakingly, gold leafed a lot of the beautiful mouldings ,in their gorgeous grand salon. I give husband, Adrian, a lot of credit for laying out a herringbone style, original, floor with no guide to go by. So very many chateau owners are doing it themselves. I’ve seen a few chateau owners try to mix in modern with traditional and they kind of missed the mark. So get some advice from a interior designer who understands what you’re aiming for.
All the best on projects this year! I’ll be watching!❤️🇨🇦
I enjoy both those channels, too.
If I had an old property like that, one of the firt thing I would buy would be a large electrical "absorbeur d'humidité"/moisture absorber. You can't predict all leaks but with that you can act to reduce the damage if you dry the room right away, especially one with "boiseries"...
You can find some decent one made in germany on amazon that are able to remove 10 liters of water from a room in a day...for about 100€, worrth it with that kind of property
It's such a resonsibility to take on a château. And indeed, it stars with a good waterproof roof. My deep respect for what the both you are doing, preserving essential French and European heritage, bravo!
There are peeps of big changes in the garden! I look forward to an update - what's been done and where plans are at
It is exausting, but those stairs are actually beautiful!!!! Maybe you will find a river, a lake or maybe the motte… ja ja ja
Always nice to see Francis. Glad he could patch the roof on the Chateau. Sounds like the Dove house will need a bit more work than originally thought. Always something to fix on these properties! Love seeing Ian clear the trees/brush from the hidden garden area. Now I can visualize how that could look. So glad to see this video on a Monday morning makes the week start out so nicely. Keep the faith, it is coming around to be a lovely spring season ❣
Hard workers, all. You found a gem in Francis. He is a hoot!
Can French lessons with Ian please be an ongoing feature?
Another great video… sorry about the set backs in the roofs😢. Garden in looking great
I have just started watching your vlog's and you both are amazing. I was wondering why one side of the Chateau is painted red and the other pink. Your Chateau is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your exciting life. Donna,USA
Thank you, Donna!
The front of the chateau was repainted (not our decision) but the back was never painted due to it being hard to reach with the moat. We actually wish it was never repainted, so who knows, maybe someday we will remove the red paint or even out the back side.
We appreciate you joining our channel for more adventures! Happy new year 🥰
Francis is incredible !
Enjoy your videos. Wish you had shown how Francis got from the leak spot up and over the peak and back in the cherry picker. He's inspiring!
You guys definitely need to establish lodging for volunteer workers. There are people who would pay to stay in the lodging and help with projects. You're close to Paris so volunteers could get some site seeing in and do some work. You'd make money off the lodging rental and benefit from free labor. You could also get skilled trade schools to use your chateau for training. You supply materials but they work for free to learn / hone their craft.
Woaw you guyes are really in to THE project! So impressive how you manage to stay calm then ”tings” piling up. Best of luck for 2023 and years to come! Happy New Year
Thank you! We are definitely off to the races with this chateau. We have multiple projects going underway as we kick off 2023! Our offices should be visited by the electrician in a week or two 😁
The pipe with the lion head was so charming in this video. Are there more architectural things like that around the Beau Chateau? Laura
Bravo 👏👏 to Ian...he works so hard.
Watching this tho reminds of the movie
"The Money Pit"...
Video was very good 👍 I enjoyed it. Wow to the photo shoot ❤ 1:05
I just love the raport that you have with Francis and the discussions on "cheese" and the chateau. I just love what you are doing to restore things and I know it is going to be absolutely beautiful. Happy 2023 to all of you. 💗
It amazes me how nature always wins. It will take over and swallow it's surroundings to say to the world, "I win every time." Oh Mother Nature and Father Time, when will you give us a break?" She answers back saying, " when you're in the ground, I still win." Sigh.
So glad you are there to work on all this! Love watching.
Thank you Angela 🥰
The garden, Wow! Just Wow!
You two have just the BEST personalities, temperaments, and senses of humor. Not to mention what GREAT parents you will be! Be careful pulling the stubborn vines and saplings.i pulled a muscle in my back that took months to heal with physical therapy. Let your tools do the work. Much love ❤️
I watch a couple of château channels and yours is the best!! Beautiful photography and just the right amount of work (progress) with a little personal conversation.
I have never made a comment on any channel, so this is a BIG compliment to you. Keep up the good work.
Raleigh, NC, USA.
I was looking at the ,hopefully not anymore, leaking roof room. Was thinking that since the fireplace has the waves, maybe some kind of ocean theme could be nice
That is a nice idea! We will take some time to research themes before we get started, but the chateau offices will have to be complete before we move to that room.
I really like your music choices. Your editing overall is so pleasing & enjoyable. It really is like watching a TV show. Such a good job by you both! ❤
Ian, you are hilarious!
Quel couple charmant! Sorry to hear about the roof damage - I hope the repairs are within budget. All the best to you in 2023! 🥂
Yes, I agree @annvackrinos5150, another breathtaking video. You couldn't have planned the flock of birds flying by! And, your little sister is so cute with her French accented English--love it. What a wonderful place to have photoshoots also. Happy New Year!
Oh those birds are all paid actors 😜 just kidding… it was purely by chance 😊 Thank you for watching!
D needs to be aware of the slight comments that puts E down for not being fluent in French. He does and works his xxx$%$ off around the Chateau, He is a supportive partner and if you wake up one morning with a note on his side of the pillow you will look back and regret on camera "correcting him" on his lack of speaking French "Correctly". HAPPY NEW YEAR. He is the quite reserve type that simply "moves on". Without him D would likely not even come close to even living on this property.
I just watched all your videos in couple of days. I love your channel!
I really enjoy your videos, Daphne and Ian. Ian makes me laugh every time and I appreciate that. I watch a lot of the chateau videos and yours is one of my favorites. Sometimes it's nice to hear Americans. Regards from Oregon.
Thank you, Linda! We are so happy to have you join us for our chateau adventures 🥰
Love, love, love Francis! He is such a wonderful personality. And 'so very French'. Truly enjoy the repartee between you. It makes the heart warm, even when the topic is terrifyingly expensive. Small moments of smile in times of difficulty.
You impress us with your dedication and ingenuity, hard work and dedication. A true inspiration here on the ground, elsewhere in France, as you give us hope in our small scale restoration work in comparison.
PS. What camera do you use. I love the quality of the imagery.
That foam building should look like fairytale Repunzel. Sorry can spell it.💜🌈💜
Huge fan of The Beau Chateau from the East Coast of the United States. Oh my God, tell Francis he's the cutest thing walking on two feet in all of France, almost Rock Star Status! From an unbiased viewer, of course and it appears, as I read through these comments, I'm not the only one with that opinion. Way to go Francis!
Love the changes it will be breath taking .
Ian had me cracking up when explaining the different types of mousse in French 😂 I know English has its own confusing elements, but the French seem to be experts at using the same word for many different meanings!
Juste pour faire monter l'algo en votre faveur, belle année à vous !
It seems like a battle of love. Little by little your getting your chateau in order. What a fantastic journey. Thank you for sharing.
Bonne nouvelle année à vous deux. J'espère que tous vos voeux seront exaucés en 2023. Je vous souhaite bonne santé et bonheur, k
Great video. Keep up the good work.
That was really interesting, Daphney!
Happy New Year to you all!

The video was great. A lot going on. When Ian in done clearing the ground. Can he come to Virginia and clean up my woods? Just kidding. Happy New Year to you both.
James
You are both amazing
Because your innocence and so clean idea of your dream
Will make your dream come true
The dream knows already 💕🌷🌷🌷💫🎶🕊
Thank you ✨🌟✨
Triple equite' regional, sosie equite' restoration!
A lot of the other chateaus have fires in the fireplace with a wood stove insert. You have so much wood it would be nice if you could use it. See if you can find out who insures La lande.
Happy new year Daphane and Ian, the garden is looking really beautiful, I am so sorry about the roof situation, Francis is your guy, hopefully you can get the room cleaned up and renovated so it can help with some income, I love how you keep calm and carry on, here's to 2023 being a happy, healthy, prosperous year. Love from N.Y.
Wishing you both a magnificent and prosperous 2023 🎉 Looking forward to your future endeavours. Greetings from Western Australia 🇦🇺
A couple of urns on those stairs would be fab! Are you really going to plant up the formal garden with fruit trees? Wouldn’t it add value for weddings and as a venue if you went more formal? The orchard could go in another part of your estate?
AMAZING, guys!!
Thank you 🥰
Love the humor 😀👍
You guys must have a tv show it's such beautiful and interesting work to watch
Good evening guys, another awesome episode, thanks again for sharing with us,and ofcourse all the very best for the new year!! ❤️
Thanks Michael! We are so glad to have you join us for another adventure 😊 Happy new year!
@@TheBeauChateau 💖
your little sister is so adorable! careful or she'll steal the show :)
it's great seeing the chateau coming along [ian doing great work daphne]
i enjoy your interaction with francis, especially regarding cheese guys
sorry about the roofing problems
best wishes in the new year to you and your family
Love the picts of roof. What a man to be able to repair! The tile is so cool looking…happy new year!
What an amazing team you have. ❤
Ian, maybe the plural of Sphinxes is Sphincters lol
I definitely said that next 😆 I had to edit it out 😜
I love Ian’s explanations of the “mousses” 🤣 What’s the plural of that??
I also love the staircase he uncovered!! Excited to see it all cleaned up!! Sorry to hear about all the roofing issues. I guess it’s bound to happen on roofs that old. Thank God for Francis and cherry pickers.
Awesome drone shots as always!!
Love and Happy New Year from Mary in Southern California 💗🥳
Thank you Mary 🥰 Happy new year!
Happy New year, I am sorry about the pigeon building having a bad roof, It would be pretty with glass. Also sorry about leaking roof, but at least you have it in your sights to get it repaired. It is very cool that there is water coming into the old fountain, I think that would make an amazing green house. Glad you are well and always happy to see a new post.
Funny with the French translation of moss. I am a French Canadian and moss would be “mousse de tourbe” and the chocolate one would be “mousse de chocolat” and élan is more a deer but I guess you wanted to say “Moose” … which is an “orignal” :) You are doing good! That was funny :)
Thanks! Yes, it’s a rough translation from an American 😆😜
Thanks for sharing your days with us. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and many blessings for this new year.
Thank you! Happy new year 🥰
Love your take on being a chateau caretaker. Hoping the CZcams algorithm is in your favor, too!
Thank you! We always praise the CZcams algorithm gods 😜
Daphne you have such a calming serene voice. All the best to you and Ian as I continue to watch your restoration. Happy New Year.!
Thank you Carol! We are happy to have you along for the adventure 🥰
