ingredients:
1/2 cup raw rice (I used organic hand pound nattu ponni rice)
1 cup water
NOTES:
Always make sure the gasket is rinsed before cooking.
Check the hob and make sure it is clean.
Keep the weight on the hob only after steam starts to come so that you can make sure that the hob is clear.
You can cook basmati rice or any variety of rice in this method
If you like to add salt, you can add 1/2 tsp pink himalayan salt
Its ideal to soak the rice a little bit before cooking however if you soak it for a longer time then 1- 2 whistles may be needed.

Came to learn how to cook rice.....stayed for " the bowl itself "
That rice looks so fluffy. This seems like the perfect method. Thanks for posting.
I was looking for this specific method of cooking in a bowl inside a pressure cooker. Thank you! :)
Hi Nisha, I use your method to cook my multigrain rice in my Instant Pot . It turned out well and I am very pleased . Less washing for me too! Thank you soooo much for your video! 😘
Frankly I don't know how to cook, my mom tried teaching me but never took learning seriously! Today I am married and staying away with my wife!! She always takes care of my food. But for 2 days she went on a trip and I am here dependent on YT for cooking. This video helped me to revise my basics which my mom taught me!
Moral :- All boys should learn basic cooking at least when mom / wife tries to teach!!
Thanks dear Nisha.. There are many students who move out to PGs and dont know how to cut a watermelon nicely
Always love your recipes but find them challenging at times as I dont know basic cooking. These videos will be immensely helpful to take a step by step approach. Please teach basic Indian vegetables if possible , without oil or in healthier options. Thanks

Its a silly question but where did you buy the lid that you keep on the dabba while cooking inside the cooker ? Will this cause any pressure issues ?

Apne bataya bahut acha laga. Kehte hai rice ka starch nikal kar hi khana chahie vi kaise kare pressure cooker mein bnane ke time please batayiga.
Even daal (lentils) ke lie bhi kehte hai ki digestive issues karte hai to kis safest way se banye. Kyoki zyda gharo mein pressure cooker hi hai or sab log alag alag utesnils afford nahi kar sakte.
Thank you
This will be useful for all beginners living away from home, no cooking experience and zero support systems in place.

Noted, Swetha
This one good or bad?
Nice
Hello from Montreal ! We dont have that type of pressure cooker here, can you tell me, please, how much time is "4 whistles" Thank you so much :-)
In India we mostly use the kind of pressure cooker shown in the video. It has served the 1.4 billion population of rice eaters for more than 50 years. It works well on gas stoves, and in India we are less reliant on electricity for cooking, as it is in short supply and we face a lot of power outages on a daily basis. So this design stems from necessity as well. If you can, get yourself one from an Indian store in Montreal. It is very efficient and can be used on different burners depending on the specific design. We go by whistles, you will find it mentioned in most Indian cooking vlogs. It is a foolproof method while using such pressure cookers.
Can't really answer your question as it would depend on the level of the burner, size of the cooker, etc.
thank you
You're welcome
Yum yum😋😋

What about gas flame?? High, low or medium?
Same question
Is it necessary to wet the gasket before cooking the rice?
Yes
Any reason? Will it won’t damage the gasket?
So all the starch will be with rice? Is it healthy?
Thr is always sone water left in my cooked rice
Weight gain recipes please
Wow
Thanks, Josephine!
Is it safe to keep utensils inside the pressure cooker?
It's safe IF you remember to put water in the cooker first before putting the bowl with rice+water in it too. That's why it's called "double boiling"

I'm about 18 yrs girl...😅😅
I'm hungry right now I have chicken curry where as I have no boiled rice...I have no choice but to cook rice 😂😂
4 whistles not enough
Help me out, please. How many minutes is "FOUR WHISTLES"...???
After 1st whistle put on low flame and count 4 whistles
Wrong concept altogether.
All you need to do is lower the flame after the first whistle. Then on the slow flame keep it on for the next 3-4 mins or so. Both the quantity of water and the time after the first whistle needs to be adjusted with the different quality of rice.
Why cook. Let the bowl not get dirty. 😵💫😫😩
Ma’am dr’s advising not to use pressure cooker to cook rice. I liked your idea of not using the whistle to cook biryani & steam . Please give us healthier options like how you normally do . Thank you
👌
thanks, Ambika :)
