Thanks for the video, - but if I did retopology in another editor and made a large pothole on the highpoly-model, can I automatically lower the retopology on the pothole in 3d-coat?
Comming from Blender, 3D Coat seems awesome and much more reliable, intelligently planned, cuts down on workflow. Not as good as Zbrush but good enough. With Blender u basically waste time just to achieve simple results. Looking forward to more tutorials.
I love 3DCoat as well. first thing I did after opening Zbrush was vomiting. Never understood how a an industry leading prog can have such a mess and disgusting UI. It is vomit. Hope that 3DCoat takes over Zbrush soon.
3dcoat's voxel sculpting feels amazing to use. it's the closest to 3d sketching. but ..if i may point out one tiny, but not so tiny criticism. for some reason you can't move in planes (xy, yz, xz) without having to snap to ortho mode. the ability to move in planes (or 2 axis at the same time) is basic functionality available in every 3d/vfx tool i've used, except 3dcoat.
3rd time me watching your videos about 3DCoat that I don't even have in my workflow but I am considering it for stylized stuff, substance painter is still requirement in the industry but I still give it a go for personal work. edit: can you add deformer for example FFD on the cube (subtract) so you can have like angular cubic?
How can i keep the piece that i have cutoff as an extra „mesh“ or object in the hirachy? So the speakß how to cut something into pieces but keep the pieces?
Good question. If you Vox hide your selection instead of using cut off, you can then go to the Geometry menu and select ‘Objectify Hidden’, this will then bring back the area that you originally hid :)
I am a professional and i start using coat 2 years ago and so far i use it mainly for painting and i sculpt in blender and do more advance stuff in coat voxel sculpt since blender is way too slow and cannot handle as much as coat. The retopo tools are good but i prefer using retopoflow in blender since this is the best retopo tool out there. The tools are very unstable and i consider this software as a permanent beta. Often it crash for no reason and voxel mesh get corrupted way too often. UI is a nightmare and a pain to the eye. Documentation is close to useless, videos from their main guy are so boring that i use them when i have problem to get to sleep. It's not for no reason they are not the #1 software so far but they have a few tools that are simply putting other software to shame.
@@RobertDempster32 20 years in the game dev business is the best school there is! You tried them all and after all this time you start to see what work and what doesn't work well. I see so many people wasting enormous amount of time and having a very counter productive workflow that i wonder how they manage to make any money!
@@NickEnchev This is the only software that give me various result upon every restart! I like predictability but coat isn't in that department unfortunately.
it looks cool but its so god damn unintuitive and weird. There is like 10000 buttons and menus constantly popping up like spam messages all the time. Its super annoying
Great video Rob! Looking forward to seeing more in the weeks, months and years ahead!
Excellent and thorough tutorial. Well done Robert!
thank you! thats exactly what I need..

very nice :) and helpful i must subscribe your channel is growing keep it up :)
At about 12:00 is there a way to make an array of cutters that are the same distance away from each other? Or even a work around?

Awesome! Can you make a comparison video of zbrush and 3dcoat?

@@RobertDempster32 thank you very much ☺️
thanks for this
You’re welcome 😁 more 3D-coat videos coming soon.
tele! nice
cool
But why my mesh is bevelling in default mode
I wish you'd whisper the arcane knowledge of Eastern European software to my other ear.
no sound?
Which better software for making ornaments?
why I cant listen to your voice on time 1:10 ?
It's only in the left channel so maybe your left earbud is broken

Sounds like you've found the perfect workflow for you :D I still need to get into Blender, it looks brilliant. And free!

I too have a bit of a love/hate relationship with 3DCoat. It excels so much in some ways, in other ways, I'm convinced it sniffs glue behind my back.

Music not needed and drowning out the narrative.
Yeah I don’t use the music anymore. I did leave it very low though 🤔 anyhoo, take care.
Let people enjoy things my dude
Why 3d coat?
this software is really weird with all of that rooms and layer stuff, very confusing :/
It can take a while to get used to it that’s for sure. The later versions are also different to this one
