I still watched most of it ha
Bro I almost broke my headphones because I thought they stopped working again
3D Coat is like the best friend I always had, but I never truly acknowledged them. It's time that I really show it my love. Amazing application.
To clarify, 3D-Coat CAN use voxels but it also has Surface mode that is similar to sculpting in other apps.
Wish there were more current tutorials for this software.
I'd love to use the software more (I got a 2022 license), but the lack of decent tutorials for the new functionality prevents me from doing so. I'm trying to use the new low poly modeling tools, but everything works very different from what I am used to (coming from Modo/ Blender), and I haven't got the time to figure this all out myself. The functionality I need might all be there, but is useless if there are very, very few in depth tutorials on how to actually use the tools. Too bad.
there are no tutorials..yet
Ive been putting the time in, this last week or two learning 3DCoat, and HOLY SHIT this program does almost everything i did in Zbrush or Blender via sculpting/Modeling, so much better! id call myself a liar if i wasnt the one learning it!
@@AbatuBlouu 1000%
3Dcoat is very underrated, but it also lacks ALOT in documentation, video guides for features, etc. I found it to have a hard learning curve because of this and mainly just use it for stylized painting of assets. That has just been my experience with it, maybe it might be time to revisit it.
There are a ton of videos on their CZcams channel.
@@3DJapan Not nearly enough to cover all the functionality. Instead, someone sculpting a rhinoceros for hours and hours on end without a hint of helpful information in it. Having a lot of good, up-to-date tutorial videos is absolutely essential. Pixologic puts out videos on a daily basis, they know why. Pilgway probably doesn't have the man power to do that, but they need to do a whole lot better in this regard if they want to push their software and not stay in their own small niche forever. 3D Coat can do a lot of, and probably more, than the competitors, but noone knows about it. They put in all those great features, but no documentation whatsoever about them.
@@volker2714 without providing brushes to follow along, on top of that, which are unavailable by the artist xD
i use for texturing and fixing uvw .. as 3d genearlist this great software and help me alot in process to my job
Am newly getting into 3D and was looking at blender until I found this. I love it already
I use it for retopology and I like it pretty much, also tried topogun for retopology but I prefer 3D coat for that. Also tried Zbrush for retopology but I believe Zbrush is not good for it unless is the only program available to you.
Hey that's pog , seems like a very good tool to have i'll try it.
I use it mostly for UV and retopo. Applink from Blender to Coat works well. Not really needed of course, but it's nice
is this software free
Would you say you prefer the UV / retopo tools in 3Dcoat than in Blender?
@@Amandeepsingh1313 No. For free you should use Blender.
@@nicellisbrown uv is good in 3d coat. if u have expereince at fixing uvw. you wil chose 3d coat
@@nicellisbrown not really tried Blender tools. Learnt Coat before blender. but they should be just as good.
im gona say someting. Zbrush is great but 3D coat is more powerfull. uts faster and the box modeling is tons better. i wanted to do some ship design, did it in blender with Kitops and Hardops. ( but the hole project took like 4 weeks ) if you want to work fast. you can Not concept wiit Polygon constraints. its alot better to get the shapes right then retypoo.
"you can Not concept wiit Polygon constraints." - does that mean you used voxels?
For characters etc. I agree and understand that, but for something like a ship? WOuldnt hardsurface modeling be the best way? Wouldn't it be difficult to scuplt that with the insides etc.?
retopo in this software is fire
The most under rated 3D software suite ever. I have been using it along side Blender for years and its so much fun to use.
🔥🔥
I am going to make 3d sculpting program
I need this software.
3DCOAT lacks Tutorials...Yeah there are TIMELAPSES on CZcams.....
But unlike blender where even dog can understand the software, learning 3Dcoat becomes hard
Cool
good!
3dcoat and blender it's means you have complate sculpture tools and more , it's not an expensive software then you will get your perpetual license that's it
$379, that is why no one is talking about it.
just vanilla C4D costs like 700usd annually and a lot of people are talking about it and from what i know it is the industry standard in motion graphics so the price is not the reason why people are not talking about it
What is that mechanical engine part at 6:09 ?
I have a license and i love a few features like destructive sculpting and painting but my main grip is the forum is useless and the documentation is a joke. If you are stuck you will be on your own and the software instability is legendary. Blender is free and in less than 4 to 8 hours you have someone answering your question on their forum. Also the minute you critic anything about their software they ignore you on their forum.
Plus, there are thousands of discord channels. You can always have someone to answer your questions.
@@denizmesih8250 My game is almost finish and was happy i had coat to paint my texture for ue5 nanite workflow. I also used coat for destruction sculpting.
Yeah I've got this software but the only issue is if you want a commercial licence it will cost alot more then standard license.
When you say standard license do you mean personal license? Because a personal license is basically a "commercial" license for a single person.
Note: You posted a year ago, and things may have changed.
Is 3D Coat still better for retopology instead in ZBrush, to put it later in Unreal Engine for gameplay? I would definitaly stay in ZBrush for sculpting, but dont know, if its worth to buy 3D Coat for retopology.
Blender + free addon retopoflow
is 3D Coat better than blender for 3d modeling architecture, buildings, weapons, armors etc?
Wow
Ppl didnt talk abt it because it was always buggy
Just like topogun
Hopefully this newer version is more stable
If Lars Ulrich was a 3D modeller, this is what it would sound and look like! ;)
why u using a real old version of 3d coat?? it is way different now in 3d coat 2021!
Pretty sure it's general 3DCoat footage to showcase what it can do. Doubt there'd be much optimal footage of the current 3DCoat to showcase all of the capabilities mentioned here since it's a fairly new build and underutilized in comparison to Substance, Zbrush and even Blender.
Can I have a free personal tutorial for being the first person to like???
Thanks for the support 😄 for now I apologize for not being able to fulfill your wish.
You can get tutorial in their CZcams channel.
And the Cons are?
Plenty of people talk about it.
But what does it cost?
@@LeonidDeburger OH WOW that actually very reasonable
@@papasalvo Very Little, and you can pay month to month to "Rent to Own" as well.
3d coat is a swiss knife )
Blender or 3dcoat?
Depends on what you want.
Personally I prefer 3D Coat for literally everything except rigging, animation (neither of which it can do) and rendering (it can render, but it's far less customisable than Blender).
For sculpting, 3D Coat hands down. I'm a reformed ZBrush user, and I absolutely prefer 3DCoat. It's much more creative, less bogged down in technicalities than both Blender and Zbrush.
For modeling, I haven't tried out the new systems much, so I can't say.
For retopo, 3D Coat is the industry standard for a reason. It takes a task that can take a week into a few hours at most.
For unwrapping, again, it's the industry standard. I don't know anyone who has tried 3D Coat for either retopo or unwrapping, and disliked it. It's amazing.
For texturing, personally I love it. I don't know the new system yet, which is apparently similar to Substance Designer/Painter, but I will say doing stylised painting is a dream. The photoshop integration is also hands down the coolest 3D painting I've ever tried.
It also has a fun way of Kitbashing, but Blender does that just as well.
The part that you may find hard, is the lack of documentation. I've watched most tutorials at this point from people online, and I've been experimenting and using it myself for years, but there's still things that I don't understand. You really have to be prepared to spend some time studying the program to figure it out.
From what ive seen 3D Coat is fantastic for hard surface modeling, and MAYBE Sculpting... i haven't quite figured it out yet. but its def better than Blender in that area already. but if i was you, id Pirate Zbrush for Sculpting. i used to say Buy it, but after them selling out to Maxon, nope. not until we know just how bad the Merger will effect the program. but Pirating it doesn't cost a dime.
AND if you want a Pirated Copy, i can get it to you, as well.
Seriously is there an embargo from the other major modelling software companies to suppress 3D Coat? Because content on 3D Coat is REALLY sparse!
Since 3D Coat is not as well known and used as much as the other modeling software, creating content would limit the number of hits your channel would receive as opposed to making a video on something like Blender.
Beautiful interface ..cmon man seriously? I like 3dcoat and it has a brutal set of awesome features, but most people don't use it, because of the interface and because of some weird logic behind how to use these features. It has great UV, Retopo and painting modules, but all this nice things are hiding behind ugly and cluttered interface. The point is, as every 3d-artist use many apps in his pipeline, you can not force the user to totally throw away every "muscle memory" for one software. I can use Blender, Maya, Max and even Modo with similar logic, but then come into 3dcoat, and everything is different. Of course, there is another candidate who does the same thing. Zbrush. But in Zbrush, you can streamline so many things, to move fast, very fast.
For instance. Sculpt on a sphere in zbrush. Get a clay brush, choose a nice alpha and do it. In 3dcoat. Choose clay brush, pick some nice alpha = result, some window pops up, i should go to the brush control panel to click on "use Alpha". WTF? Interesting, on the right side in the panel, you can not change anything, in the tab from the brush options only the note "please go to the control panel". wtf 3dcoat? So instead of 1 click, i have to do 3 or more. This is only one example of a bunch of total idiotic interface behaviors. 3Dcoat should revamp this interface totally. 3d Sculptors are artist and not so much like houdini tech guys and especially when working with a tablet, i don't want to click on thousand tiny menus. my 2 cents.
zbrush is also not intutitive. Seems to be a common phenomenon with complex sculpting software. Blender or Maya, on the other hand, are very clear.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
wouldve been nice to include a link to the product you're making this video about but i guess thats too much to ask :(
Their website's link is now in the description
3d coat = Blender ?
3D Coat =/= Blender
No. 3dcoat is quite a bit better for sculpting, retopo, uv management, and texture painting. Blender is lots better for precise box modelling, and has a much better UI, documentation, and tutorials. It also animates. For the cost of 3dcoat, you could get substance painter, designer, retopoflow, hardops, boxcutter and kitops, which give you a similar feature set but complicate the interface and workflows.
I believe too many people don't know the power of this software and ends paying for a subscription or the double for ZBrush, to be honest 3D Coat EATS ALIVE ZBrush in all ways possible, for what pixalogic is offering by now ZBrush should be a free software because even Blender beat them to death, but if you compare 3D Coat and Blender is a different story because I love Blender but still 3d Coat is better, not the case with ZBrush that can not match even a free open source software and offers NOTHING exclusive to the table plus has the worst and more awful to use UI in computers history without forget has an almost nonexistent navigation system what is really bad for professional work.
whatever 🤣 we have blender
it works really well with blender in fact blender has an addon to export the models from blender to 3d coat in one click .
For the cost of 3d coat, you can get blender and then buy substance painter, designer, retopoflow, hardops, boxcutter, kitops and some assets. I'm disappointed that the 2021 version of 3dcoat didnt really do anythnng to address the softwares main problem, the retarded room workflow and ui
