Didn't see it in the comments so correct me if I'm wrong but iirc, changing the cropping to "0" just makes Handbrake encode the black bars that are in videos when they aren't at their original resolution. For example if you have a widescreen movie with black bars on the top and bottom and the resolution is 1920x1080 turning on the automatic cropping will make sure Handbrake doesn't needlessly encode the black bars. Even though it will say it's 1920x800 or something like that, its the same size and just isn't counting the black bars as part of the resolution.

this made my file larger than before, it was 1gb converted is now 2 gb

I just changed the .m4v to mp4 before encoding👍

Both Handbrake and VLC both have INCREASED the file size by 175%. Cannot decrease file size only increase. What is going wrong?
I can only get about 65% reduction before I start to see quality loss but of course I am running an older GTX 745 card.
I used Handbrake to compress a 45mb video, it came out 165, what does this mean?
