    Heck, I really like Rem gun club hulls too

    Back in the day when I used to load shot shells, Win. AA's were my favorite hulls, I occasionally got a hold of Remington Peters left on the dove field to load and shoot skeet with.

      I have a few of the newer AAs sitting aside, so I'm going to try those out here soon. Haven't ever seen the older style. These Remingtons are nice, but I want to save them for when I get to doing buckshot.

    I just bought 1750 of these hulls. Your video makes me feel a lot better about the $150 I just spent on them. I was a bit worried that I got the short end of the stick.

      @@DummyRound That's a great question! I'm trying to find data for a good waterfowl load. I'm looking at steel or a steel/TSS duplex load. My problem is finding available data for the components I can get my hands on. Finding any TSS data at all is like pulling teeth. I'm really new to reloading and I'm figuring this stuff out slowly.

    I have a load all 2 in my closet I have had that thing for at least 4 years. I got into casting slugs and figured out how to make what U.J. calls the hobo slug. And never moved on from that I was always interested in slugs. But I do need to run buck shot but before I can I have to invest in a buck shot mold

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  Před rokem +2

      I've got the Lee #4 and 00 buck shot molds, but need a casting session with them. Then I want to get one of the HF drum tumblers to run the shot in and really round them out nicely. Then powder coating after that. I have some shot buffer and a roll crimp tool on the way, and already acqiored some bingo chips as an over-shot card. Hoping to make some nice rounds over the summer as I get time to piece it together. Hope you're doing well, brother!

    No experience with the Lee I have a Mec 600 jr. But as far as Hulls go Rem Nitro STS and Gun club all seem to load the same on my machine without a crimp adjustment. I've been using the gun clubs with cheddites and saving the Nitros/STS for US made primers.

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  Před rokem

      The Gun Clubs seem pretty nice, too. I'm just going to stack up on the Cheddite primers since they're pretty much always available at this point. The domestic types still seem more rare, and are still 30%+ more expensive. A few thousand primers will last me a very long time in the world of shot shell reloading so I'm just going to get what I need for the foreseeable future and be done with it. Thanks!

    Getting it done on those 12ga loads. Think only thing that would pull me into shotgun loaf would be loading 410

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  Před rokem

      I have a 410 upper that I have never fired because I wanted to reload for it - little did I know that there was zero ammo available and the cheapest way to get into reloading it is a $300+ MEC lol..... that project is a long ways away but should be awesome when I get there

  • @JohnSmith-nh9vr
    @JohnSmith-nh9vr Před 6 měsíci +1

    I got so confused with hulls and recipes that now I only distinguish two kinds straight wall and tapered. Also before I reload different kind of hull i don't have an experience with - I always cut the hull in half to fit the best wad , not necessary the recipe followed on wad ( cut it by the length to see if the wad wobbles inside the hull )

    So this video is 9 months old now....just found your channel....Just to say, the Lee loader is half the price of the MEC 600jr, but the MEC 600jr is an order of magnitude better in all ways. The Lee works, sort of, but for the money you'll be far better off with the MEC.

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  Před 5 měsíci

    I was lucky , a friend gave me 2 bags of STS hulls and a bag each of the black and green Remington hulls . Are lining up the crimp line in the hull with the loader ? That can cause the swirly crimps .

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  Před rokem

      I'm haven't found the sweet spot for it to line up with, but they'll still go bang!(hopefully) A good excuse to load more - practice.

      @@DummyRound You can take the metal arms loose and look inside the pre crimp die and see where they line up to the hull . I scribe a line on the press to show where to line the hull to the pre crimp dies . On my press the 6 and 8 point position is slightly different . Once you have this figured out , the rest is smooth sailing .

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  Před rokem

      I was going to do just that... as soon as I run through the powder and shot in the hoppers 🤣 until then I'm just going to slow down and note where I'm placing them and get a better feeling for it through the handle.

    • @MikeSiemens88
      @MikeSiemens88 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@DummyRound I think much depends on how well defined the remaining crimp on the fired hull is. If you come down slowly & lightly with the pre crimp stage the hull might rotate itself into place. Then the old & new crimps will be matched & you can come down all the way with it. Same goes for the final crimp.
