Was having trouble setting up the Hornady 366.watching videos like yours helped. Was doing the pre crimp way too tight. Then the middle crimp was all wrong. Was running the center mandrel in too far. Whenever changing loads of hulls I start out with one initial shell with the way it is set up. If it doesn't look right then I back off the mandrel a little. Amazing how much it changes the crimp. I have Hornady 366, OR 800 plus with 4 heads loaded, Lee load all, Mec 650n, and 600jr. I would say for speciality loads I prefer the 600jr. It is easy to set up, can control the crimp pressure and makes load development much easier.
I just got some omv dies someone sent me, they attach that same way to my Lee load all and now I’m getting far better than factory looking crimps with my .410 loads now.
Works perfectly the way you got it. I working on getting one of those omv starter crimps, but man they’re steep. $90! I just use my Mec and finish with the OMV #2 You could just go from the Ribasstore die straight to the sp2 die on your drill press, omitting the Mec crimp die completely. It’ll produce a crimp just a good.
Man, those are some beautiful crimps. Been metallic reloading for a long time, about to enter the shotshell world. Appreciate the video, hope I can get mine to look that good!
How did you attach the OMV crimp starter to your MEC. The arbor for the OMV starter isn't designed to fit the MEC. How did you modify it to make it work. Thanks
Whats your recommend stack height and overall shell length for a 2 3/4" 12ga shell for a perfect crimp? How much space between the top of the shot and rim of the shell?
I got rid of Ballistic Products crimp starter after constantly having problems with it not consistently forming crimps that would then easily slide into my Mossberg 500 pump 12ga. Was way easier to just go with once-used Winchester and Remington hulls and have the Mec 600 JR's factory crimp dies give a nice uniform crimp with MUCH less time and work of going with other ways
This is why you pay a little bit more for custom ammunition. The care and professionalism is not only evident in the appearance, but in its performance as well
Whats the name of the GAEP die that domes the initial star? Ive been roll crimping for a couple years now, but want to learn more about fold crimping. Thanks.
We are able to keep up with orders. Currently about a week out on bigger orders. I anticipate around a 25% increase next season, so I have equipment coming and/or being worked on to facilitate the demand.

Awesome Pro Tip Sir. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Like in metallic reloading, nice equipment makes things easier (and perform better).
Freaking beautiful crimp my man!!!!
Man of perfection. Thank you.

Just showing how much time and effort goes into each triple curl. keep up the good work!!!
Too much time 😅 👍

GAEP Ribassatore
Very good information. Neat attachments to press. Question: are the new hulls skived for this crimping or just as is?
The hulls are factory skived
@@saltcreekammo great, Thank You!
NICE LOOKING CRIMPS, DO THEY SHOOT BETTER? IS THAT THE SAME TOOL THAT COSTS NEARLY $100?
What is that center die you are using? Excellent video.
GAEP Ribassatore
😊 Thanks
What manufacturer is the "center dye" you're using? The one that wasn't attacked to anything...thx
GAEP... But OMV makes one as well. Either way works great.
Scusami vorrei sapere per acquistare una machina di queste come si può fare grazie
What attachment do you use to attach the starter crimp to the press itself? Looking at BPI and all I can find is omv drill attachment?
My question exactly. Don't know if he has seen your post, but an answer would be helpful.
I have the same question how to mount it . Hopefully he will get back with a answer.
Same here!
Are yall busy with orders? Do you keep up with the setup you have?

@@saltcreekammo awesome man! Glad to hear
Really dumb question, do you legit no bs hand load each and every shell you sell?
Everything is 100% hand loaded.
@@saltcreekammo holy cow! I figured you at least had a few progressive presses running. That's insane. Well done Sir, I know that's a lot of work.
I sold my MEC900e and got the OMV Smart Box. It makes 100 times better ammo.
Anyone else grit their teeth when he knocked the base of that loaded shell against the metal drill press chuck??
Interesting you felt the need to comment this at all.
@@saltcreekammoYeah, pardon my concentration on safety when reloading.
Sorry Cant get past any fire srms owner wearing a Hillary for President shirt.
