- I walk around my 1 bedroom apartment in Osaka Japan and give you a little tour. The point is to demonstrate how a Japanese apartment can really vary from a western one.

I had not thought about it like that XD
Having lived in Asia, I’m familiar with this kind of kitchen setup. It worked fine because I only ever ate out... haha! But now I’m curious - people that do cook at home - what are they cooking? With so little counter space for prep and one burner, it’s gotta be pretty simple and/or pretty creative! Any insight?
Well its common place to have a rice cooker in the home. That makes it a lot easier to cook something else on your burner and have rice with it. It's not uncommon to eat rice multiple times a day. Many Japanese meals can also be prepared without using an oven. Raw fish, pickled vegetables, panned fried items. However, microwave meals are also very common in Japan. The convenience store has a wide selection of meals you can simple pop in the microwave and heat up.
