    I’ve been enjoying just using the B80 alone since most of my stuff is DC anyway. I finally got my aviation cable, but it will probably just be a backup situation for a random AC thing in my EB3a, I’m learning. I picked up the T200s back in June, so I’m glad you recommend that for charging the B80 outside of my 200w solar panel. I figured if I didn’t need a bigger inverter, the B80 made sense for me needing more watts??? I don’t really know what I’m doing, so thanks for the help.

    Jeff, I really appreciate your video of the use of Bluetti B80 and how it to charge EB55. My question is can I charge my Bluetti PS54 with the same method you charge the EB55.? Isn't that PS54 is the same spec as EB55. Please let me know your opinion. Thank you.

    Hi Jeff.
    Thanks very much for this video.
    I have a question about something that wasn't covered. What happens if you connect the Aviation Cable to an AC60? Does the AC60 have some sort of "power bank" mode? Would doing this harm the AC60 (or the cable, or whatever you plug the 7909 connector into)?
    Enquiring minds want to know!
    -Doug
    (and thank you for not harming any sharks)

    • @WaveformScience
      @WaveformScience  Před rokem +1

      Hrm, interesting.
      As far as I can tell, the AC60 does not itself have a powerbank mode. Plugging the cable into the AC60's aviation port does not appear to damage the unit, but it also does not output any power. The "battery" icons on the screen do not light up either, probably because the data pins are not sending the data that the AC60 would expect from a battery.
      I would not suggest using that cable to try to feed power into the AC60, as that would probably break something.
      I'll see if I can get any additional information about this from Bluetti.

    Another great review. As a side note, you can hook up the DC050 to the charger input on the AC200MAX as the DC050 allows you to up the max solar input on the AC200MAX from 900 watts to 1400 watts. I bought three of the DC050s to hook up one to each of the B230 batteries and the charger input, which gives me 2400 watts max of solar input. I bought one of the B80 batteries (didn't get the AC60) for this very purpose, thanks!

    • @WaveformScience
      @WaveformScience  Před rokem +1

      I agree. Bluetti's system where adding more batteries also scales the amount of solar input is a wonderful design. It keeps the system from being "too much battery/not enough solar" when you add more batteries without needing to put a single giant solar controller in the main unit.

      3x $200..wow, but a step up controller would do that too. At least in Asia where I live the D050S only was $80 so I bought 2 for my sea container tiny house on solar. Jeff… do you either know the number/figure yourself for an AC180 or know how can I calculate the AC180 “charging efficiency”? I’m trying to confirm if the AC180 “overall recharging efficiency” is similar to the number you received for the EB3A.

    • @WaveformScience
      @WaveformScience  Před 11 měsíci

      I do have that for the AC modes. I don't have efficiency for the solar or DC charging modes.
      AC180 Silent Mode - 5h 52m - 1397 Wh - 74% efficient
      AC180 Normal Mode - 1h 30m - 1334 Wh - 77% efficient
      AC180 Turbo Mode - 1hr 8m min - 1381 Wh - 75% efficient
      My EB3A number was on "Normal mode", so the EB3A is more efficient at recharging as compared to the AC180.

  • @mclaine33
    @mclaine33 Před rokem

    Thanks Jeff, great video as always! I already own a EB3A and a AC180. I was waiting for this video before deciding to buy but I think it’s worth it. I have 1 question…. Do you think it would be possible to charge the B80 via car charger without buying the T400/T500? My intention was to just use my EB3A with the DC car charger and plug the EB3A into the wall. I know I’ll be limited to how fast I could charge the B80 but I figured it would be doable?

    • @WaveformScience
      @WaveformScience  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes, you just need a regular cigarette lighter to DC7909 cable. The same plug that may have been included with the EB3A (depending on when you got it) will work fine with the B80.

  • @kevinholland4156
    @kevinholland4156 Před rokem

    Good review and food for thought. So if I had just a B80 I could hook it to an inverter and get AC power although I would probably do better if it was hooked to the EB3a. Or using a buck converter enhances the input from a 100-200AH stand-alone lithium battery and plug that into a EB3a. Or did I totally goof up on the explanation you just gave me?

    • @WaveformScience
      @WaveformScience  Před rokem

      The DC to DC converter just changes the voltage, with a slight loss in power since no electronic device is 100% loss-free. A DC to DC converter can't add power to the system.
      What I was using it for was to stabilize the voltage around either 13.8v or 24v in order to regulate the otherwise unregulated output from powerbank mode.
      You could run that to a small inverter, but it would still be limited to around 200 watts or so since the DC7909 connector on the end of the Aviation to DC7909 cable can't handle any more amperage than that without melting. If you already have an EB3A then I would just use it to recharge the EB3A, unless you are using those parts just for the sake of having them.

  • @volrathy1
    @volrathy1 Před 11 měsíci

    Does it stay in powerbank mode after it hits 0 ?
    eg solar starts coming in during the day it charges the B80 - B80 is in powerbank mode it charges the EB3A the B80 runs flat overnight next morning solar starts coming in again - does it stay in powerbank mode OR do you need to turn it back on ?

    • @WaveformScience
      @WaveformScience  Před 11 měsíci

      No, if it full powers down due to being empty then powers back on due to incoming solar power then it does not automatically turn back on the powerbank mode output. This is similar to all other Bluetti devices in that they require human interaction to turn on output ports. I'm told this is for safety and regulatory approval reasons.

      I was told by a few folks that know much more about that than I do that the US electrical code does not allow for it to power on unattended unless the unit is attached to the grounding system of a building.
      I can’t point to a code section though since I’m not the expert.
      I do note that the regulators do not seem to be doing anything about EcoFlow’s experimental features. Maybe they didn’t notice, or maybe it is perfectly fine. I don’t know.
