I jumped back in the GR86 at Lime Rock Park this week in the hope I could redeem myself from the somewhat controversial race we had here last time out. Starting from 8th on the grid, I certainly didn't expect things to play out like this!

Take a look at the rearview mirror at 7:07 the car in the back is taking a massive jump xD
Bro you have progressed so damn far. Keep after it! My rig has been sitting idle since the new cod came out lol. I get so hooked on FPS I forget to race lol. Not enough hours in the day I suppose. Once I get back into it again though, the first thing I'm doing is going from my fanatec invterted pedals to the ones you're using.
meanwhile me as an exquisite gentleman. playing this game with a keyboard
God knows that if you got a sim you will be so powerful
Hah, you just don't have money for a good steering wheel!...
...Just like me. (tho you're a legend)
imagine how much faster you’ll be with a pretty basic steering wheel + pedals when you can dominate 0 traction control & 0 Anti Lock Brakes. For me in F1 I was losing at least 0.7s every lap with those assists.
I play with controller but its reslly painful plus i used to play on keyboard so i feel ur pain bro
Mate given how you drove the other night at Sandown I doubt it’s luck ! 🏁
Still enjoying that race mate! Was a cracker! Thaks again :)
In your second slow mo review of him taking the chicane, you can see that he’s downshifting to 2nd gear and carrying more momentum. I started attacking my that same chicane in 2nd as well recently and got way better lap times.
Good race! Enjoyed watching this one and really enjoying the GR86 in iRacing…Saw the real GR86 Cup car at melbourne GP today too 😂
it's faster if you take the chicane in 2nd. that's where you were losing time. awesome race though, love the videos.
I think you were lucky, but also used the Colin McRae idea of "If in doubt, flat out", and it worked really well
I had a win on the same track today in the MX-5 rookie cup. Quite pleased with myself with that given I started in 10th place.
Waaay more than a decent drive, Jim!
I really enjoy these videos, I hope we'll see some Mercedes W14 action at some point ;)
Good driving Will.
The curbs on that chicane can give you a blow out if you hit em hard enough. Ruined a p2 position 3rd to last lap and had to pit on white 😅
Good racing in the GR at Lime rock last week. Your line looked good through the chicane but Second gear is much faster through there. You lose too much speed dropping it down to 1st gear 👍🏻
Hello mate, may i ask you something about triple TV? Is gsync supported with 3x displayport 1.4 to hdmi 2.1 adapter while surround is turned on?
07:06 rear mirror lol what was going on there
The one thing I can say to you is you need to drive with Pace a little more aggression not anger but aggression stop worrying about what's behind you once you pass them don't even bother with it Hit your marks and keep it moving good race
Yo quiero uno igual para mi!!❤❤❤❤
I've been a Nascar sim guy for 2 years. What's the best way/tips to learn road courses? Thanks.
Pure skill mate
Oh snap a heart rate monitor... all out man.
Hey, Will. Is it possible to buy some gloves like yours here in Europe? Those are really cool and I would like to know if I can buy ones. Thank you so much!
u gotta do a cruising session in assetto with traffic n all that
Have done quite a few of those but probably due for another one.
Maan i miss the F1 vids think its long overdue 😉
Planning on another one soon
How on earth did Soto end up almost 16 seconds ahead! Such a massive difference between him and the rest of the pack.
I mean obviously he was 1 second + per lap quicker over 15 laps, but that is some consistency. I think you should observe his line 😀
3.4K rating driver in a strength of field of 2.1k
@@MMIITTGAMES That's a fair comment 🙂
@@AndyPerry1972 😊 is always good to watch the line of the better drivers!
Stay in 2nd through the chicane
How the hell do you get iRacing looking that good?
Yes... I would like to know his graphic settings..
@@ross-carlson also his rig also has really high-quality ambient lighting which helps blend the physical stuff (wheel, hands) into the fake stuff on screen, which makes the fake stuff seem realer in our brains IMO
Maybe I’m just a huge nerd, but I’m surprised you didn’t use a sequential shifter for extra immersion/realism. Still, awesome video!
Apparently these cars have paddles in real life. I used sequential for the first race I did in this car and got schooled in the comments.
@@boostedmedia Really? That’s odd. Fair enough then, carry on!
No wonder you’re is much slower, have you not heard never use shadows as braking points.
In this particular race the shadow is consistent. But yes generally you don’t want to use anything that moves as a marker. I was just using it as a point of reference in the replay. Not so much when driving.
Dude, you need to stop concerning yourself with the talent behind you and focus just on those ahead. I wonder if you're conscious of being on film and thereby hoping to cover yourself in the event that you are overtaken, but if you're convinced yourself that you can be overtaken, you absolutely will be overtaken. Perhaps try the lambo with no rear view mirror to get out of this habit of doubting yourself.
@@ross-carlson Perhaps he's a great actor and is just able to convince me he genuinely believed that a 1.7k and a 1.7k and a 1.6k were faster than him.
I can’t see the other drivers iratings when I’m driving. And I had assumed that all the cars I just passed were probably faster than me hence qualifying ahead.
@@boostedmedia Fair enough if you can't see their ratings. Though I still think convincing yourself you're doomed to be overtaken, even if they are faster, is going to be hampering you. Personally I think where ever I am in the field is one place shy of where I should be. Keep on enjoying yourself though, pal!
@@jonhartley7238 he based his decision on the fact that the car behind closed the gap insanely quickly, especially on the chicane. He"s always trying to improve his skill, not just win podiums - so its beneficial for him to recognise drivers who are better in certain places.
Conversely, drivers who never admit they are slower than those behind, never learn. They are the same drivers who pull very shameless and risky blocking manoeuvres because they can't keep the position with skill, and Id argue that's a much less-productive belief to hold.
@@Alex-ck4in Honestly I agree with both your points, but in terms of progression I have found fairly reliably that questioning what we're doing badly doesn't help as much, Vs recognising what we're doing well. I get it's a juxtaposition and hard to define in a short paragraph, but constantly expecting to be slower slows us down. But the reason I bring it up here is because say 6 months ago (whatever it may have been) Will was saying far more regularly "I am faster than them here, I can get this position", and he was progressing upfeild. Now he's saying "They're faster than me" and he seems surprised that he's able to hold a podium which he predicted he should get. He deserves to recognise his talents openly, and to say "I am faster here" is the same thing as "I can improve everywhere else", but the negative momentum saps confidence and causes all of us , if we allow it, to not fight or defend our place in the order. Maybe it's just my experience, but I can confidently say when I stopped looking backwards and started looking forwards, I was more reliably faster in pace and in push, due to confidence. And when I doubt, I am slower.
