    Well said. I actually graduated with you. Yes, this past year has been a wild ride. I definitely could relate to your comment about staying with what you do best at. I took every call I could just to keep some money coming in. But, quickly realized I don't have to do it all. I am no longer afraid to say no to some of the calls I get. Keep up the good work, you got this!!

    I appreciate you.
    I was looking for a shortcut… 20 years as a mechanic and wanted to have my own traveling business. Your advice and experience is priceless. Your father should be extremely proud of you. As a person with similar anxiety or nervousness, these are words i find comforting and all to familiar. Absolutely things I needed to hear.
    Be blessed with all you do .

    "Being comfortable with being uncomfortable", great advice! I graduated from the the 5-week NRVTA course last week and now in the process of setting up my LLC...NERVOUS is an understatement! I jumped out of planes for years and deployed 3 times to Iraq...some things you have to do even when you're afraid. I gotta be honest, taking that first call is gonna be scarey. Thank you for sharing your journey and lessons learned.

    Great video. I'm going to the NRVTA in May and I'm planning to open my mobile rv repair company in NV to start. I travel full time with my family and I can't wait to get started. Keep the videos coming!

    OMG Emily, what a great video. so helpful to me, a 62 yo woman sorta walking in your shoes. I retired sooner than planned, and needed something to do, and some extra cash. I love RVs and have 25 yrs experience. So went to the NRVTA and I'm a cert tech/inspector trying to start up a business. Way more work than I imagined!! I can so relate to this video, and you've answered a few questions I had about bookkeeping and google and well, getting started. Thank you!! It's a lot to do this whole thing solo, doable, rewarding but tough. I'm finding that those that are in a partnership, either with a spouse or business partner do things much differently and two of you make things exponentially easier. But that's ok.. I'm finding inspiration from gals like you.

    Thanks for all the valuable tips. You do a great job explaining your experiences. I'm a teacher of 30 years and will be transitioning to the rv tech world soon. I have already completed the fundamentals course and will be going back to take the rest of the courses this summer. I must say that I am nervous about starting out on my own. I will be following your channel.👍

      What did you teach? My dad was a teacher before he retired! Hope you enjoy the rest of the courses this summer. AC’s was my favorite.

    I'm in my late 30's now, but I'm so much like you in that pursuit to actively seek and share my life lessons. My funny boyfriend wisdom that's always stuck with me ever since: "Kris, he was probably just holding in a fart. Don't make his facial expressions about you". I was in management in my early 20's and anxiously trying to read everyone's body language to try and understand how my management style was being perceived 🤭😅

    Thanks so much for this info. I'm getting ready to head to NRVTA in a week for 7 weeks. Very nervous about the electrical part. I got shocked 20 years ago and haven't messed with it since. My son is also going to training, but through the Elkhart, IN place, (online). He a a ASE certified master mechanic and will be going into business with me. As far as Quickbooks goes, I don't have a choice. My wife is a Pro Advisor with them and my bookkeeper.

      You've got this! If you have time I'd play around with your multimeter some beforehand just so you're comfortable with it. And I wish I had a quickbooks expert in the family! The bookkeeping side is definitely my least favorite part of running the biz.

    Thank you for documenting your business start-up challenges and putting this in a way that most people can relate to. While I'm not in the same industry, I am looking for an accounting program for a small consulting business LLC. Are you still using Hurdlr, and have there been any challenges with it?

  • @gthomas6750
    @gthomas6750 Před 6 měsíci

    I sort of don’t listen to the customer about the problem. I would verify the issue first.
    Thanks for the tip Hurlr. What it helped me when I started I just dropped my business cards at one campground was enough to get me busy. Bad grounds are so wonder, not. I started to check the cabling first are they tight, are they warm to touch. Warm to touch means the wires inside are corroded, so they cable needs replaced.

    First time viewer. Very informative and interesting video. I wish you the best of luck and you have a great attitude. I have to give you one piece of constructive criticism on this particular video. Please be mindful of the background in your video. It doesn’t look great to be an RV tech with a vehicle, which is in somewhat disrepair. I say this with all due respect. Hopefully it’s the only video you did this way.

      😂keeping it real over here. Suuuuper proud of myself for starting a business and making enough in the first year to be able to afford to buy a truck. She’s got a fucked up headliner and needs a little love, but she’s mine ❤️. This is the reality of my first year in business. Sorry to break it to you but there’s other videos of me in this truck cause it’s how I get to calls. I’ve got better things to spend my money on than the fabric on the roof of my truck right now.

      I’m so sorry if I didn’t convey my suggestions properly. I have much respect for what you’ve done and accomplished. I was simply suggesting shooting the video in a different location. I’ll remove my comment shortly. Peace :)
