Try to book in Second Class AC at least and if you want a little bit of privacy and less distraction then book First class. Especially prefer first class and Second class in northern parts of India. In normal trains, the toilets will not be that much clean so after deciding your destination prefer trains like Tejas, Rajdhani, Vande Bharat, or Shatabdi if they run on the route o your destination, in those trains, you will get clean toilets mostly and good food and they usually run fast and on time as well most of the time. Have a good trip in our India(Bharat) and still keep your guard a bit up for scams especially in Northern Parts and tourist places though you will find good people most of the time still there are scammers as well, you do not need to be vigilant all the time and ruin your experience but keep your eyes open scammers and enjoy the hospitality and friendliness of rest of the all amazing people from our Bharat(India). Hi Guys: Recent subscriber here. Glad you chose South India as your first stop in India instead of the usual Delhi - Agra - Jaipur circuit. This will ease you in to your travels in India. By the way, there is no 3rd class in Indian railways. The major classes are AC First & Second, AC 3 Tier, AC 3 Tier Economy, Non AC Sleeper Class & General Class (Unreserved).

If possible please avoid that place on the day of holi, there is very much rush at that time and you need to be very careful.

A piece of unwanted advice. Do not visit those places at the time of Holi. There have been numerous cases of street urchins and roadside ' romeos ' molesting foreign tourists by taking advantage of their lack of local knowledge and naivete. It is sad but true.
You can visit of course, if you want to be scarred for life.
Hi Luke & Naomi, the train coach you travelled isn’t 3rd class, it is 3 Tier AC which has 3 beds to sleep on each side, a lower, a middle, and upper berth. There is also a 2 Tier AC coaches which is much spacious as it has only a lower and upper berth, and no middle berth, love your videos, it is very natural.

Tamilnadu major tourist places are 1.madurai Meenakshi temple non veg dishes are famous in madurai jigarthanda drink which is very famous 2.tanjore big temple which was built by King Raja Raja cholan 1000+years old temple and 3.rameswaram beautiful blue sea beaches and temples the city called dhanushkodi which was destroyed by storm in 1964 in that city to Sri Lanka distance is just 30km iconic pamban bridge which is 100 years old bridge which is still function now the new bridge work is going will complete in this year 4.ooty the queen of hills in western ghats where you can ride world famous UNESCO heritage train ride from mettupallayam to Ooty oil based steam engine will be used 5.valaparai another gem of hills 6.kodaikannal princess of hills there you can see more tiger reserve parks and elephant if you had luck you can see on road 7.kaniyakumari southern tip India where you can see all the three oceans and sun rise and sunset at same place many hidden gems are there keep exploring visit annaimalai tiger reserve you can see tiger and elephants live based on luck and bandipur tiger reserve all the best enjoy

If you have any problems with the toilets, just call the number that is displayed near the door. The railways would respond and clean the toilets within a couple of minutes. Swatch barath is implemented vigorously across India in all the departments.

That train started from DELHI IN Dec/ Jan when temp is around 3..5 degrees in night. And you are on a short trip to PONDY from another station all in a tropical heat of at least 25 degrees in the night and around 35..40 during day.
So traveller's always find that what ever be the READING ON THE THERMOSTAT , COMPLAINTS WILL SURELY BE THERE.
AND THIRD CLASS COMPARTMENTS RUNNING NOW ARE MOSTLY MODIFIED NON AC COACHES OF LAST DECADE.

In Pondicherry you can try to stay at rock beach with the guest house of arobindo ashram as it is nearest to beach and also very cheap too. Bathrooms are clean. But ac rooms are usually full. Rock beach is very nice for walking in the evening.

In India no third Class in Train. A/C Coaches having 3 tier Berth and 2 Tier Berth. You have travelled in 3 tier Berth not Third Class. We Shortly say 3rd A/C Means not Third class. Third class Coaches abolished immediately after independence. Have a Happy vacation in India.

Generally, the toilets of North Indians trains are not kept clean,Most of the train coming from North India will be dirty by people
This is something that you have avoid , the train must have stopped at Chennai Egmore and the section group incharge @chennai is responsible for the cleanliness not the trains coming from north India

Just chanced upon your vlog guys. Lovely videos. Just one small thing - The class you traveled on looks like AC 3 tier(3A). It's not called 3rd class here. Actually, a third class doesn't exist on the Indian Railways anymore - gone with the British times, I think.

Next time try Bande Bharat express ✨ it's a semi high speed 🚄 and it's fastest technically in south Asia. And India has some of the expensive trains in the world too like Maharaja Express, Deccan odysse, palace on wheels, Rajasthan on wheels etc..
Whoa that toilet was not what you find in most ac trains in India, that was a special case of someone clogging that toilet. Please don't judge.All other toilets in Indian trains are generally clean.

please take the toy train ride in South India. it runs from Mettupalayam station to Ooty (46 kms) in Tamil Nadu. it is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one beautiful ride.

You should travel by AC Chair car which will be more nicer, and you wont be able to stretch and sleep but it will be reclining seats. Also try a new class of trains called Vandhe Bharath. It is expensive but comparable to many European train network.

Toilet of southern railway are best in the country but this is exceptional one
You would find it more convenient to travel in the 2 tier AC Coach(2AC), which is slightly more expensive than the 3AC that you had travelled in.

That's AC 3 tier category..... The real 3rd class is super crowded.... 72 person capacity carriage will have 300 folks jammed in..... U can travel 500 km journey in 3 US dollars in 3rd class. In ac 3 teir it would be 12 -15 us dollars for 500 k travel.

Image of India depends on city cleaniness not just GDP but running india democratic with huge population is a big task, with strict rules only and mindset of all indians should change to keep clean
Visit Auroville, Solar Kitchen, Rock beach, Cathedral Church(near the railway station), Our Lady of Angels Church(near rock beach), Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Aurobeach, Paradise Beach. You can rent a bike or a bicycle too.
Best South Indian restaurants: Surguru, A2B, Hotel Kaarthik.

6:09 😀😂 sorry that's not water filled rice paddy field, it's just a small Pond/water body with Lotus, lily & some aqua plants covered covered over, those places belongs to govt wastelands unhabituated places, not of private property, can be seen all along the train & highway routes. Only villages have farmlands, fields.

Book 1st AC or 2 AC if you are expecting Clean train cars. 3rd class / General class passengers do have cleanliness on their top of list. Reaching destination on time is.

If you have any problems while you’re onboard in a train you can tweet your problem by tagging Indian Railways, and don’t forget to mention your pnr number mentioned in your ticket… (you can make complaint about theft, dirty washroom, dirty coaches)
