  • HMS Diamond is among the ships to have joined the US-led operation to protect merchant shipping in the Red Sea.
Since November, the Houthis have been attacking ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in what they say is a campaign of solidarity with Palestinians during Israel's war in Gaza.
The BBC was given access to HMS Diamond during a mission in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
HMS Diamond has not yet shot down any Houthi missiles. But it has destroyed nine Houthi drones - seven of them in just one night in January.

Bear in mind these videos are normally taken BBC News TV broadcasts which is their main focus. Some TVs in public spaces, offices, waiting rooms etc etc will have it on constantly often with subtitles at low volume or in some cases no volume. Yeah I agree the banner is ridiculous on CZcams but I also think its not worth using their resources to put together another version if they werent already going to for some other purpose. And the dedicated online content is worse anyway! seems to be a lot of BBC video editors who dont know how to deal with left and right audio channels.

Houthi Children being brought to war is horrible. Their actions are horrible and should not be justified. Western Children being brought to war is ALSO horrible. Doesn't matter who sends Children to war. They are not mutually exclusive. Regardless of where the kids get stationed or what orders they are given. To put a child in that position regardless... is horribly selfish on the government's part, in my opinion. Training or Conflict. In the context of war and childhood, 11 years old and 15 years old are not that big of a difference on the grand scheme. Still children with barely any life experience. These same poor children will return home with mental damage ranging from subtle to severe. Scared of their surroundings during peace time. In wealthier countries, we've extended the lifespan of our population past 80 years old, on average. Why hire them so young?
It's Easier to indoctrinate a child than it is to indoctrinate an adult with life experience. Even this video by the BBC is handcrafted to romanticize the Navy for it's viewers. To make serving in the Navy appear almost "fun" in some disturbing way. How do you convince a rational adult to commit war crimes? Much easier to manipulate the glory felt by youthful spirits and use their ignorance as a weapon. This goes for all major and minor countries regardless of ideology. China, USA, Russia, Britain, North Korea, etc. Each have their own method of achieving it, some more obvious than others.

No. You are wrong. It's conflict and tactics adapt on both sides. The Houthis are changing tactics because they have been forced to by airstrikes and the fear of airstrikes. They are less able to find targets than they were, reliant instead on speculative targeting and intelligence gained from elsewhere. There are also fewer targets, as MVs are routing away from the Red Sea. It will all evolve again. But I'm guessing you have a motive in suggesting air strikes haven't had a debilitating affect.
