That chinese zombie was a Jiangshi. Its a chinese vampire that hops forwards like that to hunt it's human prey.

That piece of paper it shook off its forehead is the only way to stop them (I think it's the only way). It's a spell/totem that keeps them dormant.

Buying assets does not mean talent, this devs talent was putting a good free game together with assets, that's why it's free. You could download unreal 5 and make graphics exactly like this by buying the same assets the dev used. But I agree with them looking pretty, most games in the future that use unreal 5 should look good
@@armytrainerassets only give sprites and art. Being able to combine a collection of assets into a reasonable game does take skill. The programming backend is still pretty impressive.

Jiangshi are the Chinese version of the undead/ vampire, they hop around and absorb your life force. Very funky zombie lore, it's fun.
Same zombies from the Sleeping Dogs DLC if you've played that? They hop towards you both arms outstretched like, well, a zombie 😂😂

Yup, they’re dead they can’t move their legs very well so they jump. “Jiang” means stiff and “shi” is corpse, so they’re literally called “stiff corpse”.

It was strange how there were zombies and other paranormal entities that didn't seem to belong there but were there anyway. This thing was beginning to be more like Ghostbusters, but not for kids.

To be fair I've never understood why zombies always have such a good hearing or why they seemingly see just fine with their rotted eyeballs.
If we consider a standard zombie infection, it usually is portrayed by another organism that wants to spread itself and the zombie is it's way to spread itself. It would make sense for it to make sure the host can home in on another potential host.@@backonlazer791
You don't need good hearing to hear a gunshot, though. Plus, when you cannot see with your rotted eyeballs you rely on your hearing. (Well realistically your eardrums are mushed, too, but whatever.)

They always say things are 'just like riding a bike, you never forget! " so maybe if you remind zombis that bikes exist and what they're for, maybe they would be chasing us on bikes¡ Maybe that explains why I never see a bike leaning up against a cemetery gate now that I think about it. One of those moments I wish I knew how to animate my ideas. In game form it might be like Tour de France but with zombies in the peleton.
Well, if you ever do figure out how to do animation, maybe have a part where you get to add stuff to the bike. My zombie apocalypse defense involves attaching shotguns to the handlebars because even if they can't really do anything, they look pretty intimidating. And gasoline does degrade (hence, why everyone is on bikes), so having cars abandoned on the sides of the road or even a section where you have to maneuver around a bunch of stalled out ones would be cool.

i love this game! the dude(literally one guy) was doing this as a school project at first but he got so much support he continues to update and improve the game to this day. he also has YT channel!
I checked this out on the Steam page. It seems like this is a trial tutorial for a bigger game they might be developing.

Very underrated edit Kevin did was for the zombie hopping at 6:24 he did a ping pong noise and as he ran away the noise was fading in the background. Made me think the noise was actually in the game for a moment lol
This looks like someone actually using the Unreal assets store as it was intended. Instead of throwing a bunch of premade stuff into a level and trying to sell it, someone is using them to build and experiment with mechanics, level design, and gameplay.
The game isn't just free, it's "priceless." The dev knew what he was doing. What a LEGEND

4:35 was by far the coolest lightning and rain sequence I've seen in a video game. The lighting and glow effect was so good. Gave me the good chills haha This game really is amazing.
I played this on my channel ( Not this one, I do not comment with that one ) and It was actually really fun. These people should actually make a full ass game, I would love to see and play it. Or make this into a "real" game, add humans to save and all that. Who knows, even just this is great especially for a free game.

The Chinese zombie is a traditional zombie from Chinese folk lore
I just noticed that when you reload, your ammo count goes to "1/", and not "0/".
That makes perfect sense, because the bullet in the chamber is still loaded. I have never seen that attention to detail in any other game.

Project Zomboid even tracks how many rounds are in each magazine when you swap them out. Which is weird, since using guns is generally a bad idea in PZ.
@@stevenscott2136 Guns are a very, very powerful tool if you know how to use them. One shotgun shot can draw an entire town to the location of the shot (200 tile sound radius!), which often draws them away from lootable places. Not to mention, if you have a couple hundred shells, you can clear out the town too while you're at it

so about the hopping zombie: in chinese zombie actually transalates to "stiff corpse" and in lore they move by hopping/jump slowly due to the corpse being stiff, hence stiff corpse.
