    Totally underrated review!!!

I got a Crimson II SE kit for Christmas and love it. I did upgrade the stock 12 inch snare for the 14 inch Strike Pro SE snare and moved the 12 to the 4th tom. The quality of the Strike Pro compared to the Crimson II SE is night and day, but that's why the Strike Pro is their flagship kit. The Crimson II SE is intermediate and doesn't look or feel like a cheap toy like the Nitro for example. The only weak point of the Crimson II is the kick drum. I have to hammer it to get a consistent trigger. I'm upgrading to a tennis ball beater, hoping that helps...but I'm ultimately going to upgrade the bass drum next. If you're a seasoned drummer and have the $, get the Strike Pro SE. For someone getting into drums and doesn't want to shell out $2400, get the Crimson II SE. It's a very capable kit and can always be upgraded to better components.

I just wanted to chime in here as I did a ton of research before purchasing my kit. you should not use the fabric side of the beater or a tennis ball beater for this kit . The fabric has a tendency to wear down the mesh and punch a hole in the kick pad. you should use the solid side of the beater as long as it is fairly flat. you will get a better consistent result as well as save yourself the grief of replacing the kick pad . You can find more details about this if you look for them . I have been using my pedal without issues for over a year and never miss a beat as the solid side gets a better response from the trigger. you can also tweak some settings that will improve the performance in the module which i did not need to do. I Hope I am not too late but I figured I might avoid you having a bad bad day and save some coin if its not already too late.
here is a link to a recording i did demonstrating the bass performance using the reverse side of my beater . video sucks and out of sync but for a quick recording using audacity hopefully you see a better performance from the kick as it did not miss a beat.

@@milesxdavis2652 thanks for the info. I've been using a Gibraltar tennis ball beater with an Evans drum patch for a few months and it's way quieter and responsive than the black plastic beater I originally used.

Hello from Ukraine! I watched a lot of videos, including yours, thanks! This is great video helped me choose edrums.
But I have such a problem: when I press the pedal to play a closed hat, not one sound (tss) is played, but two (tss-tss), one after the other. Not every pedal stroke, but often. Moreover, this happens more often if I press the pedal more slowly. This adds "dirt" to the sound. Such a "double actuation" of the trigger.
I know it happens with electronic drums. The instructions for Yamaha even have a section on how such a problem can be eliminated. But in ALESIS CRIMSON II SE there are no such items in the menu.
I went to a service center, a representative and I connected my pedal to the same kit - the same effect. Moreover, this is observed even on the COMMAND MESH KIT (younger). For a change, they put my pedal on COMMAND and a pedal from COMMAND on CRIMSON II - double action always jumps.
So this is some kind of general software glitch? Who faced such a glitch and how can you fix it?

I haven't quite figured out how to catch the cymbal without it leaking, I'm wondering if there is a patch that allows you do that ? I may have missed it. That's the only fault I've found so far

Is the bass pad big enough for a double-pedal?? I need to swap from acoustic to electric because my neighbours are ****s. But I'm predominantly a hardcore/metalcore drummer, so I NEED my double-pedal. If anyone can get back to me about this, that'd be fantastic. Thanks in advance.

I had an older crimson from Gear 4 Music. The snare and hi hat were beginning to malfunction after two weeks. I asked G4M to replace them and was accused of “Hitting the kit”!!! I’m not a particularly hard hitting drummer. Anyway…FIFTY emails later I eventually get a full refund after threatening legal action. Terrible experience.

Was this review even rehearsed, it's a bit on the fly IMO. The crash cymbal at 4:46, did it actually trigger? A couple of bad things I've heard about these kits is that they don't trigger reliably (especially on fast snare rolls) and the cymbal grabs are hard to do. Can anyone testify to these issues?
