I really like how he demos the sound in accordance to their genre. not playing congas like a drumset rock pattern for example
@American Movement 100% agree
I’ve had this kit for almost 3 years now. Amazing kit
I’m super interested in this kit! Can you plug it into your computer and record live into it with this kit and use VSTs with it? And my biggest fear is having one of the drum pads break on me eventually, is there anywhere I can buy spare replacement parts for this kit in case this happens?
@@jordankress4694 You can absolutely plug the kit into a computer and record or use EZ drummer samples on it or something like that. And I’ve had to replace 2 cymbals (I hit a bit too hard). You can find them on eBay, reverb, etc
@@The_JustJoshing thank you a ton for the input! Would you recommend buying new or used?
@@jordankress4694 I got mine new but if you’re looking to save a bit you can get it used.
Just got this kit, do you know if the module can support a 3 zone ride? Want to buy the larger Alesis ride.
Just bought the Alesis Drums Command Mesh SE Kit - Electric Drum Set with Quiet Dual Zone Mesh Pads as my very 1st ever electronic drum kit & it arrives January 3rd 2024! Thanks So Much For The VERY HELPFUL POSITIVE VIBES VIDEO Br❤ther! You Rock & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU! 🥂🍻👍😎🥳💕✨✨✨
Great video!
I've watched several videos over the past few days (because I'm definitely buying a kit next month) and this one was by far the most informative. This one actually covered info none of the others have (that I needed). Great job and thanks a lot.
Been waiting to buy this kit for a year think I'm gonna get a command X mesh thanks for the great overview!
Bought the Command X yesterday at my local guitar center on clearance. Only 719.99 US. Setup was simple and was jammin in no time. Highly recommended.
Thanks Nick I really enjoy this particular demo very much because when someone is considering buying something its good to hear and see someone who knows what they are doing and their interest isn't bias. The sounds were really great and the number of sounds for me is incredible. I'm considering buy this drum set for my studio. Again Thank You for the very good demo.
I'm a beginner and already switched the floor tom for the snare (bigger). Sounds are sick
Great review Nick. Wish you'd do a review of the Alesis Surge kit as well. Thanks man!
Best show of Alesis functions.Very Good demo!Thank you!
Thanks for going over pedal details at the end!
One of the best demos on CZcams
Fantastic demo, as always, Nick! Thanks for that!
🙌
A great kit for the studio. As artificial as the stock sounds are, in a mix and with a bit of EQing you won’t be able to notice...even still...if you are finicky you can always midi out to Superior Drummer or to a better module (Pearl Mimic).
Great review, just pulled the trigger on the kit!
You're going to love it. I can't put the sticks down. I started lesson with Stephen Taylor. Week 3 and I'm fully addicted to this kit.
@@insertmetalusernamehere I just got it yesterday and set it up. It's great, and sounded EXCELLENT cranked up through my bass amp! This is also the kit to introduce my daughters to music.
Thank you for your review 👍 I'm getting one!
i have this kit, love it. Added a crash, use my hi hat control as a 2nd kick for double bass
I've been trying to figure out how to change the hi hat control to a 2nd bass drum, how did you do it?
He's the best player and for explanation demonstration for Alises in my opinion,
Great review. I seriously considered the Command but decided to go a step down and got the Alesis Surge. For my abilities, i felt the Surge was a good set to learn on. By the time i need all the additional features of the Command, i will be ready to upgrade to a better set anyway.
warfire24 hows it going?
Great review.
For a NOOB like me, it’s all the kit I need.
Great demo! thank you.

Been looking for a electric drum kit for about two weeks, and Man Im lovin this demo vid, guitarist, and key boarder here, almost 60 and i feeling the need to bang my drum all day, been back and fourth regarding straight up drum pad and rack, or complete kit
Right I just went throught he same motions so I picked this kit up. I like it.
Getting mine Friday. Thanks guys, you rock. I look forward to working with you again. After this kit im getting a new guitar and bass then working on a home studio. Midlife crisis here I come 🤣
Sounds like my plan :D

Great demo.
Great overview :)
I was waiting for your video on this Surge and Command mesh kits, but I had to take a faith leap and bought one hahaha
@@alank.c.3822 are they any Good thinking about buying one
This or Simmons SD600?
@@nahidadnan9660 This. Simmons just isn't as good as Alesis, Roland, and even Yamaha makes better quality kits than Simmons.
Good explain. I have an old alesis original SR and complicated, viewer hardly visible . What I need for this track is rim/shot drumstick click, new country style. How is the rimshot. Can I use it like a snare resting my hand on the stick on the drum lightly striking the rim?
Nice kit!
Redone has a sale for this for a 100 dollars off , I'm very very tempted to get this lol looks soo good. What's also selling me on this is I can use a double bass pedal with it and there's also an expansion that you can get with an extra crash and Extra Tom drum pad to add to it if you want to make it even more bigger. I definitely might get this as my little present to myself lol ( it's also my birthday next month too, might as well treat myself 😅)
👍🙂 I just got a set of ALESIS-NITRO MESH, do you have a demo/comparison vid for that?
Great and very useful!
Do you guys plan on doing a video for the Ludwig NeuSonics?
Thanks very detailed!
I have this kit and it totally kicks ass
how is the kit so far?
@@martellelasam484 The kit is fantastic but my son (the main user of the kit) just quit drumming... So, it's not getting much use anymore.
Hi. I’ve been trying to decide between this kit and the surge for my daughter. The reviews of the surge talk a lot about the training features. Considering this module is an upgrade, does it still have the same training features of the surge?
James McAllen yes it does I have this kit it is far superior to the surge
Pretty snazzy little kit.
Where on Sweetwater’s website can I purchase an additional Tom and an additional crash for this specific electric drum set?
Thanks for the interest, Zach. I absolutely can get those in for you. I don't have them on the website, but as an Alesis dealer I can get those for you. Please contact me and I can get you fixed up.

The drums are pressure sensitive right? As in, lightly hitting it will produce a quieter drum sound versus hitting it hard? That seems to be the only thing cheaper e kits are missing, if this has that I'm pretty much sold.
I also exactly wanted to know the same
Hello Nick, thanks for the video.
Which e-drum kit will you recommend to trigger Addictive drums in the home studio setting that is low cost but good enough for live recording.
Thanks
Hello, Christian. Any electronic kit with MIDI I/O will work for triggering. All of the current Alesis offerings have this. Pick a drum set that meets your price point and go with it. I think the Alesis line is a good choice.
Chris Kress, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1757, chris_kress@sweetwater.com
Hey Nick, very intuitive as usual and admire your skills! For the life of me I can't get this kit to work with my EZ Drummer 2. I did buy them both from Sweetwater. Looks like everything is recognized in EZ Drummer but when I hit the kit only playe quietly and when I play for a few seconds it stops playing. Almost like blowing a fuse. I did contach Sweetwater,Toontronics and Alesis (no help yet!) am awaiting tech support . Grasping at straws now So Frustrating!
I feel like I experienced the same thing. It might be the cord you're using to connect the kit to your computer. If that doesn't work check the sensitivity and or threshold on the Alesis module itself. You may be using EZ drummer for the sounds but the Alesis module still controls the sensitivity and threshold when you customize that part of it.
Exactly what you're describing though I had the same problem and it was the cord I was using to connect the kit to the computer eventhough the cord worked for my midi keyboard.
Hello! Can we pan each piece of it to left to right or right to left?
Real cool and good video of the Alesis command kit And what it sound like just got mine Alesis surge bundle with a amp can I hook up the command module on the surge kit Ty for posting
if alesis is raising the bar every year as you say nick im definitely going to purchase one...….in 10 yrs
their mesh is so nice but i can tell after beating for less than a year, it's a beginner set. I have other hobbies tho
What with the Symbals from the surge work with this as all three including hihat like if I wanted to upgrade and if so how much would they be
Hey my snare pad does not play any sound sometimes when I use 3-4 drums at a time as in kick drum snare ride and high hat at the same time and it's Super obvious that it is not playing by chance do you have any ideas for me to fix this?
What sticks are these? do they have rubber tips for softer playing?
What I really need in these reviews is a sample playing it acoustically so I can hear what my family will hear in the next room. How quiet or loud is it for them if I’m playing with headphones and they only hear the actual noise the sticks and beaters make against the mesh heads. If I missed it in the video, let me know where as I did skip through a bit.
levelheadsteve I have this kit it’s not very loud the only problem is the kick drum beater is plastic so it’s really loud but you can buy a silent beater for almost nothing on Amazon
Go to 8:08 You can hear of the Bass drum sounds acoustically
I've had this kit for a while, used to have a roland V drums entry kit and the mesh heads make it much less noisy than the rubber heads
Im waiting for the review of the ATV Adrums!!!!
i second this
I third this!
idk how the adrums are but the atv ad5 module i own is fantastic
Can I add another kick to the command mesh instead of the standard expansion kit? Im trying to figure out if that would work or if I should go with a double bass pedal.
I am absolutely loving this kit.
Hey, InsertMetalUsernameHere. Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, no. You can only add another tom or crash. I would definitely recommend a double pedal. It’s a great kit.
I hope this helps.

@@sweetwater can you recommend a good pedal? I've heard a few guys say the pedals they got were too big for the alesis kit. I started looking a pearl demondrive but I seen a comment saying they would be hitting the plastic. Thanks for your input it's much appreciated.

Can we configure the hi-hat pedal to be a snare? each time we press the hi-hat with the foot,we have a snare sound.

Does this kit( and the command x red) have a good china cymbal? For metal playing
Richard Mitchell ik getting this kit soon if I remember I’ll tell u cuz I like me some chop suey but other than that I never rlly got into metal but probably could if I tried
One question: are the the hi hats always closed, or can they be made to open & close like a regular set up?
Hi, Frank! The hi-hats are able to be played open and closed, the same as you would with a regular setup. This is controlled with the remote hi-hat control pedal that is included with the drum kit. You can also keep time by "chicking" your hi-hat cymbals with the pedal, just like you would with acoustic hi-hats. Thank you for the message!

These hats are either wide open or completely shut. Nothing in between correct?
Thank you for the great review! Does the ride have a bell sound feature? Thanks in advance.
Cymbals are one zone. So no bell sound. However you can program it to sound like the bell. Or purchase a dual zone cymbal and buy a split cable to get the sounds you want.
@@george9822 Thanks for the tips!

Do you think this would hold up on a real gig? Great video! Thanks

Is there an option to add a double kick drum? If so how would you go about doing it
Great review! Did anybody try Command module with Addictive Drums 2? Is it flawless in term of midi mapping? Thanks
I have been told that youcan play with Blutooth through this box, but no ones been able to tell me how to do it.
How good is this kit in terms of disassembling it, packing it up, carrying it and then assembling it? How light is it? What kind of case is recommended for it?
Hey, Elliott. It’s actually pretty light. When I move my kit from one place to another, I have one hardware bag for all the stands and one soft floor tom bag for all the pads and cymbals. That works well for me. I usually put the module in to my back pack, or sometimes with the pads in the tom bag.
I hope this helps.

I have an Alesis nitro kit, can I add some pads of that one to the command mesh kit?
Your nitro pads would easily trigger this Command module. My base set is Alesis Surge Mesh (which had a similar module to the Nitro) but has dual-zone mesh pads and chokable cymbals. I picked up the MKII module (which is the same brain as the Command and Crimson). Make sure your "new" module includes the cable snake because the connectors are different. I also added a 14" three-zone ride and a Crimson snare (making the original Surge 10" snare a second floor tom). The sounds in the Command/Crimson/MKII series are a definite upgrade to the Nitro or Surge. All of these Alesis modules have USB midi out. You could trigger a VST (e.g. EZ Drummer/Super Drummer, Addictive Drums, Steven Slate, etc.) for really good sounds as well. I used EZ Drummer 2. I really like my bizarre Crimson/MKII/Surge mash-up. Tempted to snag the Strike Pro SE though. The look is amazing, has new mesh pad technology and they fixed the hi-hat.
@@joeg4707 Thank you so much dude, I'm going to buy the command mesh kit and I want to get sure of that.
Greetings from Costa Rica. 🥁🇨🇷
@@MsDiego200 If you get an entire new Command Mesh Kit, not just the module, you can add two additional pads (generally one tom/one cymbal). So with two extra wires you could take one 8" tom from The Nitro and a 10" cymbal pad from the Nitro and connect to the Command module. (Really it's any two pads: could be two toms or two cymbals--if you can get the right accessory hardware to attach to the rack or use traditional hardware stands). If you want to use more of your original Nitro pads with the Command to make a massive set you could 1. get drum splitters (you'll lose, say, a rim zone when you do that) OR 2. make the Nitro a slave module to the Command [I haven't tried that my Surge module and MKII, but it's conceivable.]
@@MsDiego200 One more thing, I think the Command module only supports a dual-zone ride. I wanted to clarify that, because I mentioned I have the DM-Pad 14" triple-zone ride cymbal in my setup (with the MKII module). Three-zone rides are only supported by, I think, the following Alesis modules: Crimson/Crimson II/MK II Studio/MK II Pro/Strike Pro.
A friend of mine E-mailed me a song (Drum less) as an .MP3. I put it on a jump drive and plugged it into the USB on the Alesis Command. I see the song on the menu select it and hit record the start. As soon as I hit record the click track starts up.. All good. I then Take the Jump drive out , plug it into my CPU and hear nothing but my drums and the click track. Any way I can record the Music along with my drums on a Jump drive? Do I have to have a 3rd party program for this? HELP
Hey, James. Happy to help you! I can't quote the whole manual here, but it is on page 7: Hit "Song" and then record, not "Kit" as that will just record the drum part, not the drums and the track.

Thanks for interest, Chabilal. Love to help you, but that is a pretty broad question. Can I record audio covers onto my USB drive without hearing the click while playing? I don't want to hear the click while playing and recording
Hello, T Kelly! Yes you can. Under the “click” settings, you can select for the metronome to only play through the headphone output as opposed to all the module’s outputs. When the click is only playing through the headphone output, it will not be recorded to the USB drive. You can find the specifics of navigating through the “click” menu on page 8 of the user manual.

I upgraded my Surge kit to a Command Advanced module. One question. If the "internal memory" get's to full are you able to keep some of your personal recordings or do you have to delete them all and if so how would you do any of this? I also noted that my Surge kit high hat pedal is only off and on. I upgraded it to the "real/hat continuous" Alesis pedal and also upgraded my module to the Command module. I also had to buy the Command module snake so the Command module mount will accept the new snake fitting wise. Anyone dealing with this kit please feel free to chime in. One more thing what is the biggest capacity USB stick you can shove in the Command module?
Great ❤
Is there anyway to play and share? If I want to lay beats and send to someone to lay guitar and vocals. Possible?

If you want to stay in the $1200 and under price range - which is better quality - the Roland TD-07 series, TD-17, Simmons Titan 70, or this Alesis Command Mesh? Most "affordable" Roland kits don't have dual zone mesh heads - do most folks really find that they use that feature?
I heard somewhere that the Command kit has a variable opening hi hat effect unlike the Surge and Nitro which I believe are open or closed? Can anybody confirm please?
Hey, Ashley. Thanks so much for reaching out. That is correct. The pedal allows for open, half-open, and closed hi hat sounds. It will also do chick and splash sounds.
I hope this helps.

In what setting do we get half open? My hats are either wide open or fully closed. Nothing in between. Thanks.
Could I add the 14" Alesis 3 zone ride cymbal to this kit?
From what I understand, that's a big fat NO. Apparently Alesis knew this is what any logical, $ saving minded person would do, so they nixed the capability. Now you're forced to jump up to the crimson for a few more hundred $'s more; even though the tech in the command module could easily pull it off.
You're not forced into anything. It's all up to what you want to have for a kit. The Alesis Surge Kit is a great starter mesh kit for someone that doesn't wanna spend $900+ for one of the higher-end kits but wants to know what a mesh kit is like.
@seventhsaluteMTG You're absolutely correct. And YOU CAN add a 4th tom, and another ride; just not a 3 zone. I own this kit. Just got it 3 days ago. It is an unbelievable starter set. Especially compared to offerings only 5 years ago. You can install your own .wav files; what more could a drummer want at that price? A few years back, for this price, it was hard to find a set that would even run with your DAW. We're spoiled. I didn't mean for my comment to come out as negative as it appears, and I don't think it was unscrupulous of them to limit the features at this price. I am VERY HAPPY with my purchase.
@Jeigh Neither - you have this kit? Please could you tell me if the Command Mesh has a half-open hi-hat sound? Especially if you connect it up to something like EZDrummer (if you have this). I've done tonnes of research into Alesis kits - as far as I can tell the SURGE does do half-open hi-hat sounds/midi - but the Crimson doesn't (but should according to the sales blurb) - any help on the Command would be appreciated! Cheers, Luke.
