Hi! Not one to comment too often, but I'm the author of 5007 and just wanted to thank you for reading my SCP and making this amazing video! It means the world to me and has absolutely made my day!
For anyone interested in trivia, I based this off numerous real life events like the disappearance of Harold Holt, the Vanishing of Fred Valentich, the weirdly high number of ufo sightings and odd disappearances in the areas. Did you know we lost 14 fight planes there during training runs in ww2? I've lived and surfed in the bass strait pretty much my whole life and have wanted to make something special for it. Originally I was going to incorporate a few other real life disappearances into this, but in the end I decided that in those cases it might have been a little disrespectful to the people and families involved.
Wouldn't that pit be the perfect place to dump SCP-173? He wants to be watched, why not dump him where he'd have infinite eyes to peer at him?
Nice story
Great job.
This is well done. Thank you for the story, @Balth. May you have many more created SCPs in the future.
@The Exploring Series
Thank you for another wonderfully scary reading. I now have a strong excuse to NOT eat baby octopi and squids.
Wow thats awesome great story dude
Great work on the article! Hope to read more of your work in the future!
The entity claimed that it wanted to see everything. We gave it provisional access to 4chan without the ability to post to the board. The Foundation received a single communique three hours after containment protocol was enacted, stating that "It had seen enough."
Seismic activity then occurred, completely sealing off the entrance to the submerged chasm. Neutralization deemed successful.
The entity claimed that all anomalies are "fake and gay" after this experiment
In a twist ending
"The SCP after being introduced to 4chan began demanding access to rule34 material, so it can get it's 'yiff' on sir"
O-5 Council".......all in favor of immediate termination of subject? Good the motion is unanimous!"
It cringed so hard it imploded.
Ah yes, the most maddening primordial anomaly. 4chan.
The site has been Reddit larpers since 2012 this is just sad
Fun fact: Prime Minister Harold Holt did actually go missing in the Bass Strait! The seeing balloons stuff is fictional though
He was never found I don’t think… also had bob hawk with the world record for sculling a beer…
The disappearance of Frederick Valentich was also real. It’s probably one of the most famous events in Australian UFO history
And then they named a swimming pool after him.
OMG this just made the creepyness factor explode even to higher reaches! This bit of real life trivia is a master's move!
I knew Harold Holt went missing while swimming but didn’t realise it was in Bass Strait.
GRANT US EYES
As you once did the vacuous Rom, plant eyes in our brains to cleanse us of our beastly idiocy
Posted 1 day ago? How?
“Master Willem was right. Evolution without courage will be the ruin of our race.”
Curse here, Curse there. Curse for he and she, why care? A bottomless curse, a bottomless sea, source of all greatness, all things that be. Listen for the baneful chants. Weep with them, as one in trance. And weep with us, oh, weep with us.
As you once did for the vacuous Rom, grant us eyes, grant us eyes. Plant eyes on our brains, to cleanse our beastly idiocy.
Nothing to be alarmed, just your average Australian wildlife. It's just staying down there out of fear of the drop bears.
Yeah, where I am in SA we have a smaller freshwater version of 5007

@@miriamvlachoulis6875 that’s a good theory, I never knew that was a thing
@@miriamvlachoulis6875 can you explain
Not to be confused with SCP 5007-J: The _Bass_ Strait. A part of the ocean a bit west of SCP-5007 whose only anomalous quality is that one can hear faint bass playing when passing through the strait, generally described as "especially funky."
_(Also: Perfect, I was just going to have lunch._
_Bless you and your excellent timing)_
Old Greg confirmed?
@@kalebmitchell22 Had to look that one up I'm afraid, not quite British enough to ever have heard of it.
From what I can see I think you've hit the nail on the head with that theory though. I subscribe to it.
Perhaps Les claypool finally ascended to the sea
Faint Funky Fish? 🐟 O.o
Also not to be confused with SCP 5007-B, the *Base* Strait, while only anomalous property is the hundreds of strategic military bases inexplicably covering the seafloor.
20:00 - If anyone's curious, this IS what the actual dude's last transmission was. "It's not an aircraft", then nothing, spooky shit. Love when IRL stuff like this is incorporated into these.
No way really?
Better than the ship whose last official broadcast was "'Rhut Ro!' (Spoken like Scooby Doo) "
What does IRL means?
@@kikima258 IRL is slang for "In real life", as opposed to in fiction or on the internet.
@@firetarrasque4667 thank you
I really dig how the author included minor, people-eating ocean scps in the area around 5007; little anomalous ecosystems would pop up around major shit like this
Thank you for exploring non "mythos" SCPs as well. As much as I do love the Broken God, Sarkists, Daevites etc., these straight up weird SCPs are some of the best.
true i love these
yup, love making my own little canons in my head
Why are we surprised about this SCP? The whole Australia is already an SCP, at least for me.
Australian wildlife will fuck you up.
Wait till you see Philippines
@@blockshift758 I am living in the Philippines and all I can see is an SCP doing some shit with the country's economy.
As an Australian, yeah, agreed
Damn koalas are up to something, I swear
If I had a nickle for every SCP that was an aquatic creature that can infect humans with itself and forcefully merge and mutilate their bodies into a state of unending, concious, fleshy suffering, I'd have two nickles. Which isn't much but its VERY WEIRD that it happened twice right?
What’s the other one?
@@josephengel8263 SCP-835, basically this but less lovecrafty.
@@alex9514 Less Lovecraftian and more vile body horror.
Don't forget the Tiamat-Class that ate Guam
I understood that reference, Riz
The appearance of Harry Holt in the pit is especially unusual, due to the fact that the Foundation has no less than thirty-four seperate versions of the former Prime Minister collectively designated SCP-3477, making this in fact the *thirty-fifth* known instance of Harry Holt.
he's got the range
He just moves really fasy
I am SO sad this is false, and it drives me to write such a document
"Oh, no, an Anomalous thing is acting ANOMALOUSLY!"
"Harry, you know what to do."
"Throw a D Class at it?"
*sniffle* "They grow up so fast."
"Disappearance of Harold Holt, Australian Prime Minsiter"...wait a second...that's a real thing that happenned! Clever SCP, clever
The disappearance of Frederick Valentich is also real, you can read the actual transcripts
There's also at least one more SCP based on this (SCP-3477). It was actually the SCP that introduced me to SCP, as someone made a joke about it in relation to a historymeme related to the disappearance of Harold Holt.
I love when SCP's incorporate real world events into its narrative, it really adds another layer to the grounding and depth of the universe. Especially mysteries, like the disappearance of Harold Holt.

1:38 '5007 instances are capable of passive flight by producing enormous quantities of gases in their stomachs'
That ain't fair, I produce lots of gas in my stomach but I can't fly
Try taco bell.
Surprised you didn't make a totally epic Reddit meme reference. Gonna have to downvote this for the lack of wholesomeness

I absolutely adore this SCP. First time reading made me lose sleep, made my skin crawl, all the stuff a good horror SCP should do!
first time reading = fucking mortifying, insomnia
first time listening = *slep*
Man your EAS scenarios are my favourite!
@@Neon-ws8er It’s the Exploring Series’ voice. They can turn the most horrific SCP into a bedtime story. That’s the true anomaly.
I'm so happy to hear a nice old school SCP, no drama or philosophical ramblings.

“Eyes or bioluminescent organs.”
Yep, this is a Bloodborne boss.
Hell, they've even got videogame eye weak spots™. Though perhaps that's more of a Zelda thing.
Sounds more like Birkin to me.
I know this is wishful thinking, but honestly, I want this, and a whole bunch of other scps, to be made into horror/suspense movies. I absolutely love the scp universe.
Same, I just worry that it wouldn't translate that well unless it is done really really well by like Netflix or something.
Have you watched SCP Overlord on YT?
Yeah for sure, Netix or Hulu could make the SCP universe into a huge hit series, bigger than American Horror Story...
I have wrote part of a script for an adaptation of 4666. Wanna do more and design some systems to have practical effects
@@Evelyn-pl3we I think it should be something in the vein of the X Files. I had thought of a story revolving an FBI agent transfered to the Unusual Incident units, that could be our entrance into the SCP world, with some appearences of the SCP foundation in the background as the ultra secret organization it is. For a plot progression maybe at some point the main character or characters could be recruited into the SCP Foundation and then introduce the GOC, the Sarkics or the Chaos Insurgence as antagonist, and one of the big event SCPs as a grand finale. The Bass Strait (IRL) is one location in Australia near which some Missing 411 -style disappearances have happened. Weird place. Usually that would make it stand out as a place to avoid, but... it's Australia, where a huge amount of the country is inhospitable desert and also where you can just go into your backyard and be killed by venomous animals or get blown up by an exploding eucalyptus tree, so "place to avoid" kind of applies to the entire country. Also, "Melbourne" is pronounced "mel-bin"
I agree and I can confirm
Melbin
Best country in the world to
@@scrub_lord6874 Sense Austrailia has Gone full 1984 in the Coastal Cities. No where is safe on that Accursed island.
Odd, normally the rest of the country pronounces it as 'fuck melbin'
Ah, a good ol' body horror/gore entry, with some redacted sections and that huge threat sitting at the proverbial doorstep. Feels like a throw back to the 2000 series
Fun Fact: After Harold Holt went missing in the ocean, a swimming pool was named after him.
Just would like to say, as someone who lives and works on the bass straight coast and loves these entries. Thank you.
This sounds like a job for the Grey Knights.
PURGING INTENSIFIES
Very Tzeentchy to make eyes pop in everything it picks and it wants to see
Why send those prudes when you could send the finest swordsman in the Imperium, I, Cato Sicarious, Master of the Watch, Knight Champion of Macaragge, High Suzerain of Ultramar, Commander of the Victrix Honour Guard, Grand Duke of Talassar, and All Around Great Guy, speak, of course, of myself. For I, Cato Sicarious, Coach to the Custodes, Potential Primarch, and Favoured Son of the God-Emperor Himself, have defeated the mighty Magnus the Red in single combat, bested a shard of the foul Xenos Abomination, known as a C'tan Shard of the monstrous Nightbringer, and penned the Codex Sicarious. Truly I, Cato Sicarious, Ward's Chosen, am the greatest hope of the Imperium.
Point me in the direction of this foul Warpspawn and I, Cato Sicarious, the Ultra in Ultramarine, will sail full speed with Gellar Field's down and sword at the ready!
I live how, just like Doctor Who episodes, there really is an SCP article for every single phobia
I love it when SCPs are connected to real-world unsolved disappearances.
This SCP is even more fun when you live near one of the area's it marks
I mean, don't all SCPs have perfectly cromulent explanations?
Thank you for all the audiobooks and readings you post, your voice is so soothing and it’s always a joy to hear your videos
Yes. Thank you for reminding me to always be grateful for the treasures people give us, and also very importantly, how we must also express our gratitude to those who bestow such wondrous gifts upon us!
His cromulant voice embiggens us all!
I feel like opening your emails everyday at the foundation would be a lot more exciting and lethal than everyday office work
This SCP makes it seem like the Qu from all tomorrows had a field day
*Human patchwork quilt*
@@thecrazycapmaster dead
This SCP reminds me of Father from the Animorph series, a being so large that it covered an entire ocean moon. Father technically has no mind on its own, but it can use its tentacles to capture alien ships unfortunate enough to come near the ocean surface. It then "connect" the dead bodies of whatever aliens inside that ship to its body, absorb their consciousness to form Father's mind, kinda like copying files to a blank folder. The victims are dead but their copied minds live on and can be "revived" anytime for Father's own entertainment.
I reread that book recently! That part was as creepy as when I first read it 15 years ago :)
Side note, I think that “planet wide eldritch psychic kelp monster” stuck with me because there was this “Are You Afraid of the Dark” episode with like a Red Sea weed monster that dragged kids to the bottom of bodies of water? Even pools if I remember correctly? I don’t remember much else, but whenever I went swimming when I was young and felt a brush of something against my leg I would freak out in my head because of that book and that episode.
The illimist
@@korrafey1044 Ellimist becomes like that much later after he had absorb all of Father though
@@ucnguyen6375 yes but wasn't that the title of that book?
These sound like the scariest drifloon I've ever heard of. I love it
I have to say, as an Aussie myself, the Bass Strait is the last thing I would think of being an SCP in this country. There are so many other strange stories and occurences here.
We’re looking at more innsmouth/bloodborne antics aren’t we?
This has some really good, classic SCP vibes. Thanks Exploring Series!
“A Thousand Eyes, open inside,
To grant me sight to see the end,
The more I behold, the further I fold,
Into the madness I descend...”
This is some impressive body horror. The substance that keeps you alive no matter how badly mutilated or mutated you are... that's some living hell stuff right there.
Some of this stuff has to be a reference to Gemini Home Entertainment. The 'found you!', all devouring entities represented by an eye, a cavern reaching lower than anything we know ab. I absolutely love it, how they can homage to other projects
Once again...I was literally stressing out because I've watched all the videos I listen to to sleep, then you upload at the perfect time
Love ya man
Considering this is Australia, all non-anomalous and anomalous deaths are SCP-related.
Great timing, I have to comb through several spread sheets right now and this'll make it less mind numbing.
I always look forward to your content!
184 SCP videos in and going strong. This is a stupendous undertaking. I have been listening since your SCP intro video. I rarely leave comments. Just wanted to say I appreciate the hard work you put in all these videos.
Thank the SCP overlords.I flew to San Jose CA after your last video.I've barely been able to sleep. This is the perfect remedy.Bless you all truly!
The joy I feel and the light on my face every time you post a new episode is impossible to describe.
Its not often that one of these stories will get to me, these days. That line though- *"Found you."* gave me a genuine case of the willies 😱
Great video, as always 👍
It's nice when anomalies have glowing Capcom shoot-me-here spots. This one was awesome, big thanks to you and the author.
HAHA I love that it ties Into the fact we once had a premier disappear. Also fun fact we named a pool after him
i appreciate that you named a swimming pool after a man who drowned

Oh man this was actually a really good SCP! I like the heavy narrative ones but it’s always nice to hear one that is several genres/themes of horror stories.
The redactions and the unanswered questions actually fit and don’t feel overdone or forced. Definitely a great 5000+ series SCP in that it has a good story but also is incredibly creepy.
Every time the word "eyeball" is spoken take a drink. Every time the word "tentacle" is spoken take a shot.

How nice a terryfying giant mutated anomalous Clam. That likes to make bloons.
this one sound and feels like the old scp stuff ;096, 682, etc. its good to have nostalgia every now and then
Yes thank you this is just what I needed to start off my week keep up the great work
Please never stop making these videos. I’ve struggled sleeping for years and these are the only thing I can consistently turn on and immediately fall asleep, they are so good.
Whoa, that's actually a good SCP, despite being in the 5000's. Good job, dude. It's so rare to actually find enjoyment in a modern scp narration.
Your use of cromulent in the video embiggens my heart.
I wonder if I could write an scp about a bass pro shop.
I don't know why not, it's perfectly cromulent.
Oh hey, they found Uko'toa. Someone needs to warn Fjord about this !

YEAH SCREW MY SLEEP SCHEDULE WOOOO
I just want to say thank you. Your content is amazing along with your consistency. It makes my Mondays just a little better
I love how this story has some true facts involved

Thank you so much for your wonderful content. I absolutely adore it!
Man, i love your every aquatic scp video, this gives me such joy!!!
So satisfying to listen to your voice...
There is a ferry that goes through the bass strait triangle. No one uses it. Not because it is a facade by the Foundation or because it is haunted. It’s because no one from the mainland likes or wants to go to Tasmania
*SCP-5007: Cthulhu ain’t got nothing on me!* 🐙
Well that was terrifying! Which is awesome. Congrats on 800k!
LOL 'Perfectly cromulent explanation'
Fun fact: the Valentich disappearance is real and actually happened like in the transcript, right down to the phrase “It is hovering and it’s not an aircraft” and the metallic scraping noise. Sweet dreams!
thats insanity, it makes you wonder what really happened
Wow This was great TES .Love when you do SCP files like this
Foundation seemd so passive in this one. Like even before finding the big guy, they just let them do their thing, no containment at all.
I don't know when you started implementing other voice actors but that was a great touch! Keep up the great work!
Once again, I am thanking you for an amazing job well done. Keep em comming. These are my bed time story's and I love them. 😁😁😁
Keep up the videos! And please never stop making your other series! Even though they don't get as many views I love listening to them.
This reminds me of a game called Iron Lung that captures exactly what I imagine the D-Class in this story feels
I like this series a lot more than the cartoonish stylish spam version of SCP infecting youtube.
Nothing a couple of anti-matter torpedoes can't fix.
I love watching these videos !!! I have them going all the time when I draw ♥️ it really got me into scp.. so thank you!
Nothing in the SCP universe is perfectly cromulent
2 bangers in a row! And both aquatic. Best content on the internet
Thank you for the video!
Love your videos man, they help me sleep
Love your videos man thanks
That mention of "inflation" from SCP-3999 might be part of the same fetish that inspired these "aliens". A tentacle covered with eyes that constantly speaks of "seeing" is a neat concept, but having it involve people whose stomachs balloon out with flotation gas was a bit much IMO.
There's no better dopamine hit than when TES uploads. Thank you for making my day❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I cannot describe how much I love SCPs I look forward every week for you updates! Please! Consider making a video about the rainbow body SCP
This one is not a tale to an almost shocking degree. If you told me this was actually released in the 2k line I would have believed you. Pleasantly surprised.
That last line hits even harder listening to this after a coral reef larger than vermont, just off the coast
Perfectly cromulent 👌
