👀 More interesting is the vertical movement changes from each. Baseline 80 was like 15-16 vertical, saw a couple 18s and 20s in there 👀
For at least a few of those, his axis was up around 1:08 instead of his typical 1:30. For vertical rise in FB, axis is the more important factor, along with gyro direction/degree and efficiency.
Spin helps, but lots of factors go into each individual pitch. 4 pitches is a small sample size. Still pretty clear they help though 😂
@@LoveyXIX I watched it without pausing but thought I saw gyro and efficiency were pretty flat. Good to know though. Definitely increased the vertical, wonder what same experiment with offspeed creates. Work with rapsodo often and might have to do my own!

This video shows what I've been saying for a little bit now; I'm fine with pitchers using something like rosin and sun tan lotion for grip, but they have to stop the using of pine tar or spider tack. Cole, Bauer, and some of the other best pitchers in baseball went from pretty good to great by using this stuff. It's not fair.

My thing is the percentage the sin rate increased. It’s a 10% increase on all except the sunscreen. And that’s the only one that should be legal

So my CZcams rabbit hole consisted of watching trick shots which lead me to blitz ball trick shots then to JomBoy Media playing blitz ball with spider tack which then lead me to see what happens when substances are used. Exactly what I wanted from this video. Good stuff 💯

@@cameronbailey9704 you can probably *cough* 90% of MLB pitchers in the history of the game tbh. Spit balls, stickum, tack etc is an unspoken part of the game. I think it's funny that Bauer called it out and the MLB said they didn't care so he just did it openly so now suddenly they care.

If you look back at anytime in baseball history there has always been cheating of some sorts whether it's using illegal substances, using steroids, or illegally stealing signs. Don't get me wrong, I'm an Astros fan and I fully condemn them for cheating, but I honestly find I kinda funny how Trevor Bauer criticizes cheaters so much when he's a hypocrite himself. Ultimately though, I think that the current situation with the sign stealing and the illegal substances are (or were) quite widespread (although the use of substances is definitely more widespread) throughout the league and it all stems back to failure on the league's part to do anything about it. The league let it get to this point and now they have to deal with it.
@@cameronbailey9704 I don't blame Bauer, he asked the league to do something for years. They refused so it forced him to fall behind or cheat too. That's how the steroid era also got out of hand, league didn't care so everyone started using them to keep up, suddenly it became an issue. Same with the Astros, bunch of teams were doing it, Astros said screw it let's do it better suddenly the league cared.. MLB has a history of acting too late and then over or under punishing everyone.

That’s a great video. I’m guessing since professional pitchers train all day with this stuff the average rpm’s are at least 100 to 200 rpms more drastic for the individual. Love the vid. Mlb should spend time finding a substance to pre stick the balls which helps grip but is more neutral for spin like sunscreen and rosin

He got the spin rate numbers from Rapsodo. The Rapsodo app on the iPad gets the numbers and readings from the high speed camera (it's the black box looking thing on the ground in front of home plate). Hope this helps and good luck with your project!
