  • Time for more rules discussion! This time, I've compiled a short primer on the behavior of enemies in Arkham Horror the Card Game. We're talking about Prey, Hunter, Engagement, all that good stuff. If you're new to the game, you'll want to get up to speed on this tricky concept! #arkhamhorrorlcg
    * Note that I'm really only talking about the normal behavior of enemies -- you can certainly take Engage actions or use other card effects to move enemies from the threat areas of your fellow investigators into your own!

    Love these guides! They are by far the best I've seen so far of all the various Arkham Horror content creators.

    Great way to clear things up. Would love to have a video that is just rule timing trivia test like the pop quiz from this one. Would also love to see a rules video on how token replacements work/don't work. Things like Olive McBride + Custom Modifications + Favor of the Sun and that whole can of worms.

      Great ideas! I know I want to do a token manipulation video, but I may sit on it until Hemlock Vale because I'm betting the new mystic is going to have some!

    The new Elusive keyword would fit here too, perhaps a good excuse of a new video? Or just a pinned comment.
    Excellent video 👍

    Can an investigator force a "Prey X only" enemy that doesn't target it to engage with it using the "engage" action?

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner  Před měsícem +2

      Yes, if you want to keep it from running after its Prey.

    ... so if at the same location as an unengaged aloof enemy, could you investigate the location or move to another location without risk of an AOO? Thanks for all the great tips and tutorials!

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yep, as long as you're not engaged with a different enemy! Unengaged Aloof enemies are great candidates for the card Eavesdrop!

    Man, you're videos and voice are great! If possible, try to remove the background "ssss" noise (I know it's not a simple thing, but I suppose it would increase "perceived quality"). I've already seen +10 videos and subscribed, great content!

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Noted, although I tried used a filter to eliminate background noise, I cannot hear very well so I did not perceive any background sound. Sorry!

    Does an enemy that spawns to an unrevealed location in play spawn there or does it get removed from play? Thanks. Excellent videos!

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes, as long as that location is in play already, enemies are allowed to spawn at unrevealed locations. Do you have an example in mind for further clarification?

      @@Quick_Learner Thank you. This came up in our first game, The Gathering. We were all in the cellar and the Attic had not been revealed yet and the Ghoul that spawns in the Attic was drawn. We weren't sure whether to put him in the attic or discard him.

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner  Před 10 měsíci

      Ah yes. What I cover specifically in 08:30 is that the Icy Ghoul / Flesh Eater don't spawn at all if their respective locations are not in play yet in the scenario (as is true during Act 1), but if those locations are in play, but unrevealed, they do spawn there indeed (and engage no one, of course).

    Does an 'Aloof' - Hunter enemy move if there are no investigators at its location?

  • @hunterbidenslaptop5749
    @hunterbidenslaptop5749 Před 7 měsíci

    So if an enemy has prey only and hunter, it is ready and unengaged and there is an in investigator in its location who is not its prey, does it move? I think you implied that the answer is yes, just need to be sure.

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yep, it will move towards its prey in that case.

    Some of these rules are a bit ambiguous to be honest, Zoeys Cross states that it can be used when an enemy becomes engaged with you, under Massive is states that if you are at the same location as an enemy you are engaged with it.
    Poor use of the English language, no wonder there is so much confusion with this game

      I like to think that FFG is teaching us a lesson on how not to write rules templating.
