  • Some thoughts on this Exmark Radius zero turn after 50+ hours of use. I can't recommend it over another mower, as this is the only one I've driven, but it has exceeded expectations and given me no trouble at all.

    Thanks for your review. After doing a LOT of research, then watching your review, I bought the same mower. They had the collegiate suspension seat offer, so I spent the extra $300 for the seat. It was well worth it. Its my first zero turn. My last mower was a 48" Craftsman lawn tractor with 22 HP Kohler, and it would take 4-1/2 to 5 hours to do my yard and areas around the barn etc. With this mower i'm done in 1 hour and 50 minutes with a much better looking lawn. Some say I should have got a 60" instead of the 48", but that was an additional $1,500 plus my trailer is less than 60" wide inside. My area is very uneven and hilly, with several areas between some sheds etc that the 60" would not go thru. It works perfect for me. It was a learning experience, but after having it 2 months I actually look forward to mowing. Thanks again....

      Glad it helped. I've also been told I should've gotten a bigger mower, but i have a lot of trees to mow around and I couldn't justify that extra money either.

    I have a pair of 3M Work Tunes hearing protection headphones that have AM/FM and an auxiliary port for your phone. It protects your hearing and allows you to listen to whatever you want. I listen to football games, music, and podcasts. I LOVE them. They are one of my favorite pieces of equipment. They make working fun while protecting my hearing.

      My hearing is already shot. I know that's not a very good excuse, but my tinnitus is so severe that the mower/tractor engines are welcome distractions. I should probably look into getting something like what you have. I need to get a helmet/face shield for chainsawing too. I don't want to be in one of those "chainsaw fail compilation" videos.

    I just purchased an eXMark Radius with a 52 " deck for my 5.5 acre property. Still getting used to driving zero turn after having a John Deere yard tractor for 20 years. This machine is a beast and will reduce my mowing time by half once I get proficient at using the arms. Maintenance looks to be pretty easy. Have you had to remove and sharpen the blades yet? That was always a real pain with the JD, remove the entire deck before you can take the blades off. Good review, thanks.

    Your gas usage is fine.
    Only the fuel injected engines get 1 gallon an hour or better.
    My 33HP efi does but the cost of the mower is $11k. So you're doing good.

    Great review I work for an exmark dealer it’s a great mower your fourth grease zerk is located on the pump belt tensioner underneath the engine it should be aimed down but sometimes it can be sideways

    Just bought one today. One thing I'll say is that the thing is built with much heavier gauge steel than I am used to seeing. It's "beefy"
    It acts more like a brush hog than a finishing mower, but it's great at that too.
    Now to go out and adjust those arms....lol

    In 2014 I bought a Gravely 152 which afterwards wished it was a 60 incher. Mine has 2 gas tanks, which holds 10 gallons.I change out the blades quite a bit and for me Gator blades work the best.

    Question for everyone. I have a small lawn about 1/4 acre rectangular shaped. Would it be a waste to go zero turn. I had a regular mower but I want the better turning ability.

    • @f4rhodesia273
      @f4rhodesia273 Před 3 lety

      Thats gonna be up to you honestly. Some people enjoy mowing their lawn and have time to spare, so the speed isn't an issue. For that size property, and if you're only cutting your own, a mower this expensive would be a waste as you won't be putting much wear and tear on it. Look for a residential zero turn if you really want a zero turn. Can get them for anywhere from mid to upper 2000s to 4kish depending on brand.
      Tldr if that price tag is worth the zero turn to you, then go for it, but don't blow your money on a commercial model, you won't need it.

      I took care of sister in laws lawn, grass about 1.5’ tall. Went through it after dry spell, highest position, slowly. Drilled a hole through the discharge shoot and tied it up with a bungie cord. Then again at lower setting. Used a dust mask. Let cool down, completely, before second pass. and blow off entire machine after each job with compressed air or leaf blower
