    I'm with the majority here. Time for a proper clear out Phil.

  • @davidsata1

    Definitely do a job lot clear out or auction. Keep two or three nice items that you might hopefully get restored and clear off the whole lot of everything else. I’m sure the money could be used well on the new farm shop or farm development. Them old machines are grand and all to say you have them but really just no good there taking up space needing a lot of work.

  • @retrorevolution6534
    @retrorevolution6534 Před 15 dny +17

    Those old machines all have a story to tell and they obviously have been kept under cover "taking up space" for a good reason.
    You can't put a price on sentimental value and it would be criminal to scrap any bit of these "old junk machines".
    I honestly can't believe the some of the comments, I'd say keep a hold of whatever you want, restore it if and when you can and find a good home for anything that has to go, there'll be someone, somewhere that'll appreciate it.

    Very interesting. My dad (RiP) used to work with a threshing crew when he was a young man in County Cork in the late 1930's, early 1940's. He then went on to become a groom ata stable yard and then came to England around 1949/50.

    THIS THRESHER WOULD BE LOVELY RESURECTED AND PUT IN YOUR NEW SHED. I REMEMBER THIS IN MY HOME PLACE (YOUR GREAT GRANDADS) WE USED TO GET UP ON IT AND PEDAL IT, HENS EGGS WOULD COME OUT THERE WHERE THE STRAW DID AT ONE TIME. YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR GRANDAD... ?? AND JUST TO REMIND YOUR FOLLOWERS THAT THE WHOLE FAMILY WOULD HELP TO DO THE THRESHING. NO PUSH UP MACHINERY BACK THEN. 😂😂😂

    It grieves me to say it but I think the old thresher is beyond reasonable economic repair.

  • @coughlantom4139
    @coughlantom4139 Před 15 dny +8

    Hi Phil, I was very interested in the Thresher because I worked on one almost 60yrs. It was a Ransome but had rubber wheels & not as wide but was considered top of the range at that time. Doubt if that will ever thrash again but with the right craft could be a showpiece for the future. Keep 'er Lit.

    Great video. Would be a pity to scrap the trasher… there must be another complete example of one that could be used as a template to make the required parts? It’ll most likely require a complete rebuild with replacement timbers… probably a project for a Men’s Shed crew or Bro over a number of years as a hobby when he’s qualified? Keep up the good work.

    I'd say an attempt to clean up the thrasher and put it in the new farm shop whatever time you get the shed up. Clean the dust off it, replace a few boards and it should look well. Even if it isn't working mechanically it would be a nice piece to have

  • @seankenny5412

    Great collection of real rare stuff, not many left in that condition, fair play to ye for putting in the time to keep them in good nick and orginal.. the poor oul thrasher is well shook but hopefully somebody takes on the job of putting it back in working order, if all the iron work is in it the rest of the body work is very much possable. It wouldnt be simple, but still possable.

    I think it will take a few years to get those old machines back up running. Are you going to create some sort of a show storage rod them, otherwise they will just be rust and take up valuable space. ❤️❤️❤️

  • @FarmersSss
    @FarmersSss Před 15 dny +65

    Would you not ever just advertise them old combines and the thresher and if not sold then get them in a skip? See how much useful space they were taking up, and they will only go and sit in another shed for years to come. Im not trying to be clever or have a go at all, but surely clearing out all the old machines and scrap that's never going to be any use, freeing up space and getting the farm looking much more tidy will be much more cost effective than them sitting there. You'll know fine well that sheds and concrete isn't cheap

    • @upthereds4939
      @upthereds4939 Před 15 dny +4

      Why on earth would they part with them combines . These boys will get them going one day.

    • @dougtheviking6503
      @dougtheviking6503 Před 15 dny

      @@upthereds4939Yes the boys love those things .. They have more sheds ..

    • @FarmersSss
      @FarmersSss Před 15 dny +10

      @upthereds4939 thresher sat 20 years, and the combine in the last video had sat 5 years or so. My point was some things will never get fixed up, and if they do, what will happen? Probably go straight back in a shed wasting space.
      A nice selection of fully restored and tidy original working is far better than hoarding too much junk and projects that will never happen

    • @philipjmcloughlin5880
      @philipjmcloughlin5880 Před 14 dny +2

      They collect vintage tractors machinery and combines there not getting rid of them 😂

    • @FarmersSss
      @FarmersSss Před 14 dny +4

      @philipjmcloughlin5880 collecting is fairly debatable. It' closer to hoarding! 😂.
      There's plenty been plenty said in videos of how many years things have been sitting in sheds or outside. Even in this video, the pile of junk and scrap infested with rats taking up space in a perfectly good shed.
      I appreciate a collection of nice classic tractors and machinery as much as the next man, but there comes a point where old nackerd tractors and machinery are lying about everywhere and will never get fixed. So why not move some things on and let someone else restore it who has time too, then any money from it can go to restoring something or putting the money towards a machine or tractor that will make you some money.
      Everyone is entitled to comment, and my first comment certainly wasn't to have a go or cause offence.
