- Otani Yoshitsugu was a famous samurai hailing from the sengoku period. One thing that made Yoshitsugu different to your regular warrior, is that he was a leper. He was extremely skilled in warfare and there is even a legendary tale that Hideyoshi a peasant who rose to become the de facto ruler of japan once said, “I want to entrust a million soldiers to Yoshitsugu and let him fight the enemy.” The Leper samurai possessed a unique ability known as the “extraordinary talent of military strategy vision,” which involved analyzing various elements, to understand the terrain and predict the enemy’s movements. Ōtani Yoshitsugu has been romanticized in poetry and fiction as Ishida Mitsunari's heroic and talented friend.
This is his story.

Amazing how him and king Baldwin never let their leprosy stop them from achieving great things
They were like “No excuses”
It's incredible!
“Wretched Kobayakawa Hideaki. Within three years, my curse be upon you.”
- Otani Yoshitsugu, Aoi Tokugawa Sandai
Kobayakawa Hideaki would die three years after Sekigahara, a drunken shell haunted by guilt and madness.
I have always found Otani Yoshitsugu, Ishida Mitsunari, Shima Sakon and Gamo Bitchu to be fascinating individuals, often maligned by the winning side, but men of principle, loyalty and honor undiminished in spite their defeat at Sekigahara.
I agree! Thank you so much for watching!!!
One of the few genuinely loyal and morally decent Samurai. Can’t help but respect such a figure.
Ah! You came through with your great storytelling voice! Thank you for this wonderful video. Watching in full big screen, it is amazing!
Thank you so much for watching!

Back in the 80s traveled to Japan on the invitation of the minister of transportation at Haneda airport.
Stayed at the Hotel New Otani.
I guess it was named after him.
probably! Thats awesome! I also wanna go to Japan soon!
@@historyprofiles
You would love it.
There are two Hotel New Otani in Tokyo. Which one? One of them opened in 1987.
Bro know the western army is a lost cause but stay true and join them anyway out of respect for mitsunari
My guy Otani and Ishia were best friends. Otani couldnt walk due to his illness but he fought fiercely to the end. I'm glad that he became a ghost and haunted Kobayakawa😂
Wow
Thank you for watching!!!
Is this where Yoshimitsu character (video game Tekken) was based from ?
And the corpses where consumed.. 🤢🫣
...By the flames😮💨
One of my favourite sayings
Japanese king Baldwin
The fuedel Japanese be thicc af
He became a ghost and haunted Kobayakawa
Who soon died after
Mu-ne-ha-ru not mun-ha-ru.
English pronounce Nihongo weird. like the portuguese who cant say Nippon so they said Japon.
The lies are real 😂😂😂
He’s in Shogun
terribly represented. The show is embarassing.
@@saemonno-suke9959better than that mess they made in the 1980s
@@saemonno-suke9959 As embarrassing as "Braveheart", though maybe not quite such a series of lies.
