@@benpassmore-webb9102Nate was on a 5-year contract that expired on June 30. So technically Nate wasn’t fired yet when this episode came out. I’m not sure why they decided not to renew the contract though.
Plus Henry Wallace ran as a third party candidate in 1948 against Truman. It's not quite the same, but it's still rare (imagine if Al Gore decided to make a run next year).
This podcast just shows 3 people sitting together doing something they LOVE. And they are all experts and enthusiasts and it just shines through. Love this team!!
Kudos to your podcast style. I especially appreciate neutral and full explication of current political events and issues without unprofessional snide comments, but rather, explaining things like you all do, with engaging, professional, and intelligent conversation and appearing to not really taking a position. Now if our mass media would take your style and apply it to investigative reporting things would be a lot better. 🎉🎉🎉 Keep up the good work!
interesting you mention Dan Quayle. Some of his advisors floated the idea of him running for Governor of Indiana before he mount his own presidential campaign. Now that's something you don't see people tell a former VP these days. 'Oh, you just ran one or two national campaigns as number two, you should run for governor of your state before running for president'
What has happened, you ask? The Media and polling groups have spent the last two years asking Republicans whether they would rather vote for Trump or DeSantis. Thus, they are the only Republicans candidates anyone thinks are serious.
Can we possibly get some coverage over the Impeachment here in Texas? Ken Paxton was impeached by his own party and I feel like we should be talking about it more because um... He's the attorney general of the second largest state in the country?
Are you going to ignore RFK and dem primary the entire election cycle? I’ve literally see a only one Short of content on RFK. Roast him for all I care, curious to hear your opinions on the dem primary
And they're a lot better at it than Trump supporters will ever be at understanding Democratic politics You're welcome to try to demonstrate otherwise though
@@thomasroberts354 more that they can recognise that the current level of insanity in Republican politics is enough to make Democratic politics look almost super-sane in comparison (I'm pretty sure most sane people would prefer someone who can't fix the USA's problems over candidates who will almost all make them worse, so yeah, I'm pretty sure they'd choose Biden over more insanity)

Love how the goofiness was turned up a notch because everyone was in person 😂
But why did you leave out the mac and cheese intro on CZcams, the viewers will miss out 😔
the goofiness seems to permeate their political analysis as well. i assume these are college kids. or high school kids even.
Having Nate's tag still on the end of the video hurts. 😢
Forreals!!
any info on why they fired him?

As much as I'll miss Nate I love these 3 and will continue to support them.
These 3? Yes. FiveThirtyEight as a whole? No. Disney doesn't deserve your support after what they did to Nate.
@@nineplusten _...that_ was your last straw with Disney?
I'm still gutted that they ditched Clare Malone.
Fivethirtyeight will never be the same without Nate... (and claire)
I just really love the interaction between the three of y’all and your expertise impresses me. Thanks so much!
No one mentioned that John Nance Garner, two term VP, ran against his boss FDR in 1940 for the Democratic nomination. It’s pretty rare.

@@andyh4518 : Gore wouldn't run against Biden. Besides, he seems happy being an activist now.
Just want to say for the record, Wallace was FDR’s VP not Truman’s. But it is interesting that two FDR VP’s ran against each other.

Having Nate in the end feels strange
Great to see the gang all back in person!
Poor Dan Quayle. Misspelled one little word and America never let it go. And up in Idaho we are still laughing about it.
"And up in Idaho we are still laughing about it."
of course we are. Dan turned into a real potato.
I noticed. I missed you. (Based in Australia and perpetually worried about how things are going for you over there - leading the world and all)
Nathaniel keeping the enthusiasm-intro up 🎉

People give Chris Christie WAYYYYY too much credit for his 2016 debate performance. All he did was call out Rubio, big whoop
Emergency podcast on Trump being indicted on classified docs charge please 😊.
Did the music get remixed? Nice
Can we possibly get some coverage over the Impeachment here in Texas?
Ken Paxton was impeached by his own party and I feel like we should be talking about it more because um...
He's the attorney general of the second largest state in the country?
amazing that you kept the NS outro
I had the same expectation. Blazing Saddles gun to my own head crazy shit from the House. Kevin must be hugely generous.
I had no idea that Brent Corrigan did political podcasts.
33:59 LOL. This is the most Pro-New Jersey piece yet! XD
happy new year everyone
57:16 who's that guy asking us to subscribe? And why does he sound like Fivey?
Galen is so cute ❤
This is why I would move to the West Coast if I was going to run.
I think I prefer this being done over zoom
Narrator: They could see. And they waved back.
Emergency podcast on that Alabama voting rights decision, please 😊
Nate is a political data legend but honestly I kinda prefer the vibe of just Amelia, Nathaniel and Galen together

The Middle won big. The Fringes lost. And America returned to functioning as it used to.
No more zoom podcast love the together vibe
RaKich looks far to young to be a "senior" analyst. But I am old, what do I know.
U guys MUST do another podcast about Trump's 37 Felony charges. Hurry up, 538. thanks.
To be fairrr!
I haven't seen these faces, except for straight into the camera, for so long. Good to confirm they still have 3 dimensional heads.
Do you guys have any idea just how ridiculous cute Nathaniel is? I can't be the only one out here that's swooning!!
The guy isn’t capable of mustering a genuine smile. He’s creepy AF.
It's too early to talk about 2024.
I love gen Z.
first comment :)
Congratulations 🍾
