- Join me to learn the chunky butterfly cables blanket stitch. It’s beautiful texture. The butterfly stitch has been around for years, I just added purls between them.
This is fairly easy even for beginners.

Wow 🤩 thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern!
I’m so glad you enjoyed!!
Now that I started over using 3 fingers for the cast offs on the chain, 44 is spot on✔️ 😁
Beautiful!
Thank you Brenda. That is beautiful.
You’re welcome! Thank you for the compliment!!
I'm so glad I found this, I'm making this for my cousin, who lost her 6 month old daughter. She had Turner syndrome, and the symbol is a butterfly. 🦋
How beautiful! So sweet.
I’m going to try this with the bernat thick - thank you for sharing
Perfect! It’s one of my favorite stitches!
I love your videos. Very informative
Thank you!
Beautiful 😻
Thanks so much!
so excited to try this pattern..
Glad you enjoyed it!
I struggle with anxiety and depression, and I know that it would really help me to learn how to do the hand knitting. I don’t even know where to begin even by watching the videos. You do an amazing job!
I do too! Check out my video for beginners. ❤️
@@PassionKnitCozy I don’t even know where to begin as far as even buying the yarn and what kind. Thank you! I want to accomplish this, in spite of the anxiety, and prove to myself that I can do it.
Hi! I suffer from anxiety and depression as well and recently took to hand knitting. It was overwhelming at first but once you get started it’s great! I’m now on my 4th blanket! I mean…I still have a lot of practicing to do haha but it helps with keeping me distracted.
And Brenda, these videos are great! Thank you!
Thank you so much ladies!!
@@MarisaKraus thank you for the encouragement💗 It helps to know that others with anxiety and depression are doing it!
*Lessons learned:
*Pace yourself
* maintain same tension from beginning to end
*Pay close attention to the pearls they are smaller and have a tendency to come in stiched leaving a longer loop between the knitted stitches. This is how you know the pearl stitch has come undone. Just push it back through and continue
* be careful not to switch the yarn maintain unity
*I prefer the burn method to connect yarns, it’s a smoother less bulky transition. However, I haven’t washed my twin blanket yet to Donot know how well it laundry’s
* using two colors add interest and makes your project unique, very simple, just like adding same color yarns together
* twin hand knitted chunky blankets sell for nearly $400 if not more, depending on the complexity of the patterns. If you purchase vs do it yourself, remember, it is allot of hand work, fingers get sore, lower back hurts and due to popularity yarn prices have doubled since I started my project. So it’s worth every dollar if done well.
* Brenda Kay has been very helpful providing guidance, answers my silly beginner questions
* thanks Bk 💕
Great tips! Thank you
I did it !!! Yeah… 2 colors, used burn connections method less bulky smooth transition!
Had to undo twice because somehow I twisted yard in different directions along the way in a number of places so the butterfly looked intoxicated 🤣 and apparently missed stitches here and there have large open holes. Wasn’t as smooth and well balanced as yours. So I pulled all out and will redo till I get the quality I expect. Practice makes perfect, right? 😁
I do have another question: now that I have a tall kitchen trash bag stuffed full of loose yarn, how do I keep it all from getting knotted up while chaining, knitting and pearling? 13 skeins all connected 😳
Yay!
I try to roll it. But it’s definitely hard to keep untangling.
Brenda, im 3 skeins in and my beginning row seems like it’s getting shorter or beginning to curve. Am I doing something wrong or is this excepted?
Also, after measuring my first row of cast offs in relation to my twin bed instead of 44 I did 60 cast offs. So it would be wide enough. But now that it’s curving im perplexed 🤣. Help!
That means your cast on chain loops need to be bigger. At least 3 finger widths.
So to prevent the first casting row from curving, use 3 finger loops all the way across vs just the first loop? I have to pull it all out anyway due to Pearl stitch kept coming undone causing me to drop a stitch. Thanks so much for replying so quickly 😁
How big is the blanket. I would like to make a baby blanket
It is a baby size blanket
I would like to make this pattern in a twin size blanket. How many jumbo fluffy skeins of number 7 yarn would I need? I was thinking it may be 60 x 90 to lap over the sizes of the bed? Not certain how many starting loops needed. Can anyone advise?
I would recommend 44 cast on chain. It really depends on tension of knitting, I knit tight. How many yards are your skeins? Different brands are different yardage.
I have 10 skeins of Bernat-7 jumbo. I also had to get 3 of these in a different color. So I guess I will need to learn how to do a color change. Im curious if I can use the 3 skeins to only do the butterfly then change color to do the knitting between the butterfly. What are your thought and ideas.
Im not certain how large blanket will be using 10 skeins. Im not able to go more. Have an ideal?
Thanks for your advice.
Lable indicates 10.5 oz/300g
32yds per skein
I think I would like tight knitting as well.
How many stitches for large throw for butterfly stitch.
It depends on how large you want it.
How do I send you a photo?
Sorry the platform doesn’t allow photos sent only comments.
Really hard to follow as it isn’t close enough to really see what she is doing.
Thank you for the feedback. Happy New Year!
Take your two fingers ( if using your phone or have a touch screen monitor) and enlarge the picture of video. That’s what I did and it was very easy say to view details up close
@cathytu9927 thank you!
