Joseph Woll competing for the Vezina is a WILD take. Dude had a .907 sv% and a 2.94 GAA and only played 25 games this season. Everyone needs to calm down about having 2 good games in the post season.
Yeah I doubt he’s even eligible and his regular season stats are barely above average despite being from a smaller sample size.

Is it possible? Yes, of course he's still young and he did have a good couple games but, to confidently put that out there in a youtube video this early into his career is wild. There have been PLENTY of goalies who have a good stretch in the NHL and then flame out quickly afterwards.

I was just graduating high school in 67 when the Leafs won the Cup, and I was a Leafs fan. I'm nearly 74 now, semi-retired, and have lived in New Zealand for 50 years. Thank Christ I've been an Oilers fan since they entered the league in 79-80, and have seen their ups and downs. But that's nothing compared to the pain Leafs fans have been experiencing for the past 57 years! One thing that the 67 team of Old Guys could teach these overhyped and overpaid prima donnas on the Leafs present team is a lesson about GUTS and pride in wearing that jersey!! Ask any of our All Blacks - the most successful team in ANY sport in the world - and it's not about the money, it's about the CULTURE they live up to!! Until the Leafs get some of that it will be rinse and repeat ad infinitum.
Those five bad contracts of theirs are all but unmovable. The Leafs might hit a lower low next year. This could literally happen again.

the media is to accountability what a dog is to taxes. entirely irrelevant. if anything media can only ever get outa the way or become a big problem- and in toronto its prolly the latter more than the former. being hyper critical can set expectations and cause lil curses to manifest in your mind- this will effect how good you play as the easier you see defeat looming the easier it is to accept that your efforts are wasted. you wanna win you need to make a locker room resistant to media- and to imagine atlas happy. rather than futile.

When Chicago snagged Berdard I said then that the Blackhawks will rebuild and win another cup before the Leafs ever will. One playoff series win in 20 years! They haven't been back to the Finals since last winning it in 67, cursed to say the least. The Chicago Cubs of hockey only 50 something years to go.

When you overpay the "Core 4" it takes away the cap flexibility to fill out the remaining roster. Now Toronto may have to embrace a retool in order to establish a new Core 4 as Marner is most likely gone via trade, maybe Tavares as well. Let Samsonov walk and re-sign Jones as the back-up to Woll next season.

The Leafs stacked all their chips on offensive talent and tried to dumpster dive for defense, so if their offense isn't clicking, then they don't do very well on defense. If they get rid of Keefe or Marner, who's an upgrade out there...?
When Samsonov got listed as the starter, my hopes were crushed. He actually played well up until the OT goal. Leafs shouldn't have let Pasta get behind them like that, but Samsonov should have had that.

In any sport that has a salary cap you cannot be top heavy. You can’t spend that high of a percentage on just a handful of guys. You gotta spread it out. The Leafs need better defenseman and maybe a new goalie, depending on how Woll works out.

Habs fan also. I don’t think we need any big changes. We look good, despite the results of the season. We need a single real veteran in the locker room, and to keep most of the guys together. One of the youngest teams in the league, just need one guy with long term experience. I think in 2-3 years we’re gonna be strong, and stronger yet with a vet. I think it’s crazy that Suzuki is the C, but he’s good and will be a great captain, I just wish he had a vet in the room with him, and one he’d had the time to learn from.

The biggest problem is psycho Matthews. Every year he crumbles under pressure. This year he broke even before the playoffs started, by scoring Nr. 70. He is not superstar material, thats it. To talk about Marner is not necessary at all, because he is overhyped and massively overpaid for years now.

When you sink 60% of your cap in 5 players, you have to surround them by AHL call ups and ELC's. If they get too good, you can't keep them. Therefore the continuous rotation of the support group.

As much as I hate the Leafs, the talent is there. Their numbers during the season show this. The
problem is pressure. From top down to the fan base, they want to win. They HAVE to win. Nothing else will do. So every season, they get to the playoffs and they crash & burn. They can’t handle the pressure. And who can blame them, with a culture like that? They hold themselves to a Gold standard that isn’t deserved, being the most recognisable team in hockey, with the false belief that historically they have won more cups than anybody else. The fan base act like this too, not all of them, admittedly, but certainly more than most. They need to chill and take the pressure off a bit. It might help!

Yes and as much as it suck’s to loose, and it does it suck’s so bad, but last time I remember only one team wins the cup. It’s really hard to win. And before people go, well Vegas has done it and has only been in the league for a few years bla bla bla. Vegas got to go what no other new franchise got to do with their picks and signings , so ya they had a huge head start, just ask Seattle. Is this team flawed? Yes but so is almost every other team. They need to start fresh with a new coach, which is kinda shitty for the fact that you can’t fire the players so the coach much go, and I like Sheldon, he can be a little soft on the players yes, but a new voice might help. And they need to free up some cap space with at least one of those core four, probably easier said then done, and have a more balanced team. I think that will help. I’d say Marner should be able to fetch a top goalie and maybe a defenseman or prospect. Possibly Weegar/Markstrom. There’s Gibson/Zegras, too. Only problem is his NMC, the teams he would want to go to likely wouldn’t have the cap space or assets for a trade.
This version of the Leafs finally got "playoff hockey" figured out and deserved a better fate after game 4, too bad it took so long in the series. They better not sign 16 unless he takes a pay cut, put the C on Matthews, sign Bert & Max. This loss tonight doesn't hurt because they left it all on the ice. Keefe will be gone and I hope coach "Q" can be brought in for some accountability. Hope we can keep Boosh and Edmondson and build a score, Sammy out and Jake Allen or another good backup.. I think the biggest sign for me just how screwed the Leafs truly were was when they let Michael Bunting go. Somehow a team this star studded was blessed with a Calder Finalist 20 goal scorer depth piece on a young player ultra cap-friendly deal. Depth they sorely needed. Yet they let him walk because even 4.5m AAV was too pricey for their blood now. (Im aware he hasnt been as good since his rookie year but hindsight is 20/20 here).
Well, they could have had Hyman for half of what they paid Marner🤷♂ Im not a Leafs fan but I remember Hyman was always one of their better players in the playoffs aka a guy who didn't disappear.

As a B s fan Leafs played great we were lucky to get by. Leafs have a load of talent as witnessed by their many trips into the offensive zone with many scoring chances. Not sure what will happen in the future but a few tweaks Leafs will be back!
Look at the Teams who do win the Cup. The players stay together for years. SO DOES THEIR LINES. Changing players and changing the lines up everyother whistle isn't going to win a cup.

Privately Marner Matthews and Nylander are sick of each other.
The team is doing what Edmonton was doing 4 years ago. Passes the puck to their best goal scorer regardless of scoring chance. Marner is the best player on the Leafs, but he isnt the best goal scorer. Because of this, he is often passing to players in the slot. This causes his numbers to plummet in the playoffs because Playoff Hockey is more checking and coverage. The players in the slot are being covered more and aren't great finishers. It is not Marner's fault that the Leafs have no depth and mainly rely on 2 goal scorers throughout their season.
You are spot on with the revolving door of new players. I can't keep track. Top heavy salaries and ever changing lines. They go hand in hand.

The leafs showed tremendous heart against the Bruins. They fought back and could’ve easily won in overtime in game seven. I’m a Bruins fan, but I respect the leafs.

I get a kick out of how fast Toronto fans are to jump hog-wild on their top players, and demand they be traded. Matthews, Garner, Tavares and Nylander scored points for the Leafs. It’s the secondary scoring that wins you playoff games.
While your top players face the fiercest defense from opposing players night after night, it’s your 2nd and 3rd line players that have to step up.
Did Domi do anything? Bertuzzi? Knives scored one big goal. IUncan’t even remember hearing from any other players from Toronto outside of their top four players.
Toronto didn’t exactly light the lamp in alarming fashion in the playoffs, but their top players did in fact score points.
Recognize the real weakness and stop pouting about your superstars “not showing up”. Those guys were getting mugged yet still producing. That’s playoff hockey.

Another problem for them tho is that they are a Canadian team so because of the income tax players want to be payed more and even a contract going from 1.2-1.4 mill adds up. I’m not fully educated on the topic but from my understanding Canadian teams have it harder for cap than most American teams.
