I had the pleasure of assisting Ms. Weaver back in the late 80âs as a clerk at Banana Republic in Columbus Avenue in Manhattan. She came into the store as we were just about to lock up for the night. I think she waited till then knowing it would be empty. She was lovely. Very tall. Quite beautiful. And so very nice to us all. Good memory. đ

Completely agreed. "Old time" effects have always creeped me out and moved me a lot more than CGI; they are somehow much more visceral, in a way I can't put my finger on.

Graham Norton is one of the more entertaining talk shows on any station. And Sigourney Weaver is one of my all-time favorites. She's got a depth about her that is the source of her amazing talent, unlike most of the shallow new actors popping up left and right these days, many of whom became famous because of some talentless reality BS.

She really is. I sad next to her on a flight in the early 2000's from Florida to LAX. She was so nice. Very non-pretentious!
You forgot to add that good effects create add an extra dimension to a film such as ambiance and character that CGI could never achieve

That was hilarious..I am a HUGE fan of the Alien series and of Sigourney Weaver..I do hope that she gets to act in at least one more of the series..perhaps as a grandmother and having the save one of her little ones? She still looks fabulous!

I was born in 1986. I grew up with this movie (and my parents telling me to 'close my eyes' at certain points). Long after I was old enough to have seen the whole thing, they re-released it in theaters in the States, and my family went to see it. I knew every story beat, every death, nearly every line of dialog; it still (figuratively) scared the piss out of me seeing it on the big screen. Alien is a treasure, and if you ever get the chance, I recommend it in a dark and crowded theater.
