- It's back to shearing again today at Ewetopia Farms! This time, it's the big boys! Come watch as we shear forty really heavy and large Suffolk and Dorset rams. These are not your
everyday sheep. These boys were bred and retained as breeding stock, so are the most powerful of our sheep. You need to be a really professional and strong shearer to be able to handle animals of this size safely. Not only do the sheep need to have their wool removed humanely, but the shearer himself also has to be safe from the harm such big animals can inflict on you. See how it is done right and stay tuned for the follow-up video tomorrow where we tackle the ewes plus, try to make hay before the expected thunderstorms!

Great job shearing by Jacob. Those rams are downright BIG boys! Itâs going to be so much cooler for them now.
Glad is such a sweet fellow. He does enjoy his pets from Lynn.
Guys, stay cool as well in the current heat dome settling over the east.đ
Yes, shearing temperatures were perfect but it is just terrible here now!
Glad the boys were able to be sheared. The shorn sheep look great
A feature length video. Yes, gotta grab a cup of popcorn for the matinee! đ
Love sheering day. The sheep feel so much better afterwards.
Looks like some of those rams lost weight from getting their salon cut.
Jacob, youâre so strong, determined, and amazing! I wouldnât even be able to get one sheep sheared.
A++++
25:25 letâs just call it the real thing, Lynn, the âfrank & beansâ a scene from the movie âThereâs Something about Maryâ đđđ

I'm so glad that Jacob made it! I learned that Suffolks are easier to shear than Dorsets on your channel. Those rams are looking good with their haircuts! Now they'll be nice and cool in the summer heat. Aww, Cassanova looks a little squirmy but he got through it while he licked Jacob! I thought that was so funny! What an impressive fleece. I could watch the sheep get sheared all day lol! It's so fun to watch! It .looks like Ben likes watching too! Haimish really struggled but he looks great now! I'm surprised that he likes to lick too! So funny. Glad is such a good big boy and now he's ready for summer! Ferdinand fought his haircut but all of his wool came off nicely and that was a lot of wool! I'm looking forward to part 2. That thunderstorm looked amazing, I just hope your hay is alright. What a great video, thanks for sharing and see you tomorrow! â€đ
Yes, Suffolks are much easier to shear. All these big boys have correspondingly big fleeces too!đ Ben can't get enough of shearing!đđ€Łđ€Ł
WooHoo Jacob! đ amazing! We can tell Jacob is a great shearer, so good you have himâŠand he takes good care of his back. The bit about how tall Jacob is helpful to give perspective about how big the rams are. Lunch!!
Rats! About storm and hay on the ground.
Really nice video Ewetopia Team!!
So hard to see/hear Buddy at the beginningâŠsuch a great cat. â€đââŹ
Yes, losing Buddy has been just devastating. Jacob is a big guy and an excellent shearer!đ
LynnâŠI adore how you talk to the sheep and rub their faces đđ¶
That Max is such a good dog đ¶ he is a hard worker, a parent pleaser for sure â€
They love the attention and it gives me comfort too đ
Boy, like I said before. That is one stuff back breaking job.
He's a tickler he is that Casanova . đ Jacob is amazing! Great job everyone!!
Good morning!!!! đčđčđčđč
Some day, someone will come up with an easier way to shear sheep!
The boys look gorgeous with the shearing. Beyond that I can only imagine how good it feels to have all that wool gone! I look forward to Part 2. Thanks for sharing and stay safe!đâ€
Good afternoon from Germany â€
Ben says, " That guy is making my friends smaller and they don't like that very much. Could you stop him please? Mom? Dad? Anybody? Woof"
đđ
Ferdinand is still my favorite ram in the stud battery.
Good morning Arnie and Lynn. Feature length videosđđđ. I bet the boys will be so happy to get the wool off. That yearling Dorset was a good looking boy. That was funny Casanova licking him. Such a sweet boy he is. Now there is a big wool coat. The boys have a deep baa. Gladiator is so sweet. I completely adore him. Totally enjoyed this video. Never ever boring and the boys are able to strut their stuff. Have a nice evening. Big big hugs to you both. đ„°đ„°đ„°đ„°đ„°đđđâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Jacob is earning his pay on the big boys, so sad the wool market isnât better- itâs a beautiful crop!
Yes, he is and I agree, the fleeces were beautiful!
Glad looks awesome with his new haircut, he will feel so much better once the hot weather comes, in fact, they all will feel better when the hot weather comes!đ„°đ„°đ„°đ„°
Those Dorsets were cutting up!đđđđđđ
It's so nice to watch professionals at work. I hope this guy is putting money away for retirement. My back hurts just watching him.
I know, right! It's a tough job!đ
â€â€â€â€â€â€â€đ
Lynn was that Monty crying while Jacob was shearing? If it was, he hasn't lost his pathetic baa! Too funny.
Yes, he still has that funny voice! Quite unmistakable đ

Good Morning from MN đ
I know exactly what you mean about the back hooves slashing your throat. In April it happened to me when I was shearing one of my rams. It really hurts but thankfully it felt worse than it looked although both of his hooves on his right leg left scrape marks. It was the first time in 30 years of shearing. It was my first year shearing my rams from Canada and it was the ram I bought from Keith in Ontario. What do you all do to them up there? LOL
IDF are worse than Dorsets! It's not a Canadian thing!đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ„°đ„°
Hi guysđ are your shearing guys from Texas?
No, Ontario, Canada
How much does he charge to shear a sheep ? Does it go by size?
It depends. Our big rams are more
It really bothers me that the dogs are permitted to be around the shearerâŠthey stress the rams and I donât want anyone hurt
The sheep are totally used to our dogs and pay no attention to them. But we do try to keep them behind the gate so they don't get in the way
Looks so hot and HUMID
It is now but on shearing day it was quite cool
