‘Hazard’ (haunting range) and ‘Don’t Mean Nothing’ (rocking) are my favorite Richard Marx songs.
Hazard ❤ its a mood!
Love Hazard!!
Nice choices
I was just getting ready to mention "Hazard". Possibly my favorite of his vocals.
"Hazard" is essential!!!
Richard Marx is so underrated. He is very nice and humble in person.
-underrated is so overused-
He's kind of an ass.
He's a fun twitter follow as well.
@@RockFan89 x
@@RockFan89 Yes he is. Mainly because he despises Traitor Trump. lol
He had 7 top 5 hits in the late 80s(3 #1's) and 7 top 20 songs in the 90s. "Hold On to the Nights" was a #1 !!
Marx had a TOTAL of 14 Top 20 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Nine (9) of them were Top 10 hits. Billboard Hot 100 is what counts as true “hits” because it includes all genres.
God I miss the 8p's and 90"s. Folks back then were so much mire relaxed and united
@@wiltchamberlainisthegoat13 In America.
My favorite song by Richard Marx. Such a good summer song. Especially for the young lovers out there.
I saw him live he was awesome. His saxophone player Dave Koz is incredible. Dave has some albums of his own. Definitely check out more Richard Marx. Satisfied, Right Here Waiting, and Hazard are just a few to check out.
@tammiec4937 Yes, when I saw Richard Marx on his debut tour, I took note of Dave Koz. As a saxophonist myself, I asked myself at the show, "Who is the Richard Marx on saxophone?" Koz was doing many Jazz sessions at that time. I bought Koz's debut album, and it was designed identically to the Richard Marx one! I have seen Richard Marx only 3 times, but I have his entire catalog. Koz is on numerous Jazz albums I own. I particularly liked the song and video he did with Country singer Toby Keith as a tribute to NBA Wayman Tisdale, a formidable bass Jazz bass player in his own right.
Mine too. 💙
Fun Fact: The bartender in the video is Richard's Dad (who had a career doing commercial jingles), and his Grandpa is sitting next to him.
“Should’ve Known Better” is a great rocker song by Richard Marx you would really like. When I was a kid in the 80s MTV had this show called, “Dial MTV” where you could call in and vote for your favorite song and video and this song was always playing, classic! 😎
Richard's now married to Daisy Fuentes from MTV.
Couldn't second this harder. Love this song.
The intro of that song sounds a lot like "Outride a Crisis" from Super Hang-On.
Yes! Great rocking song.
@@jp3813 Wow, that’s crazy! 😳
Richard Marx is awesome. He sang background for Lionel Richie and Luther Vandross on recordings ( who would later return to favor) on "Keep Coming Back" by Marx. His first 3 albums are full of songs to react to. "Dance With My Father" was a dedication to his father, comppaer Dick Marx. For a rocker, "Satified" will fit the bill!
He also sang background vocals for Madonna.
Fun fact (at least for me) was the composer of "Here Comes The Hawks", the theme from the 70s of the Chicago Blackhawks NHL team.
@@kenqb5450 I didn't know that, but considering Richard Marx is from Chicago, I can see that!
He wrote Edge Of A Broken Heart for the metal band Vixen
Dance with my father is a must
His song 'Hazard' won a ton of awards, and rightly so because it was so well done. The song tells a story in a captivating, and somewhat haunting way. Gotta check it out!!!
One of the greatest ballads ever written. Amber is going to love that one.
"Every single breath you took was mine". Gets me everytime!
Richard Marx is a deeper well than you might think. He is indisputably a superb musician. His songs are always very well crafted and produced, with unexpected turns and shifts
I saw him 2 months ago. He was awesome. Still sounds amazing.
Did you know his 3 sons with ex wife Cynthia rhodes (penny from dirty dancing) is most of his band
Richard Marx’s keep coming back is absolute fire. Thank you for giving me my wish and getting back to him.
"Endless Summer Nights" was the 3rd single Richard Marx charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and his 3rd consecutive Top 10 hit, followed by 4 more (1988 - 89) for a total of 7 Top 10 hits in a row ( in 1992 & 1994, he added 2 more Top 10s for a grand total of 9). "ESN" peaked @ #2 (for 2 weeks) in 1988.
Endless summer nights by Richard Marx is such an incredible song One of his best you can really feel the emotion in the song
Yes ❤ this song stops me in my tracks every time. So many memories ❤
Love Richard Marx! I wouldn't choose this as his second best though. Check out "Should've Known Better" for uptempo. "Hold On to the Nights" is probably my second favorite ballad from him. "Take This Heart" is another good uptempo one. He's mostly ballads but has a lot of great stuff.
“Satisfied” might be the Richard Marx song he’s looking for.
Satisfied, Should've Known Better, Keep Coming Back (with background vocals by Luther Vandross), Until I find you again, Don't mean nothing, Wait for the Sunrise, Surrender to me, Chains Around my Heart, Take this heart, Hazard..., SO many songs. He was my crush back in the day😊 Update: I forgot to mention Angelia. Please add it to your Richard Marx list
He was the very pinnacle of this genre in the late 80s. A lot of really good songs." Angelia" is one of my favourites.
Still remember every word of this song! Love all his music. Very prolific. Hazard, Hold On To The Night, Don’t Mean Nothing, Should’ve Known Better, Satisfied, Now and Forever.
His song "Should of known better" is probably more to Jay's liking.
Angelia, is another very good song from Richard Marx. But Hold on to the Nights is probably his top hit, next to Right Here Waiting, which you already reacted to.
I heard Richard Marx sing A cappella in 1989. My God, this man can bloody sing!
We all have someone who will cross outs minds when listening to this song. We were 16 in the summer 1988, couldn’t stand to be separated, if we weren’t out hanging together we were talking for hours on the phone. Summer ended and we went to different schools, we faded out of each other’s lives.
It was a very intense 2 month summer romance. Her name was Stephanie
My Richard Marx suggestions:
- ‘Hazard’ is the kind of storytelling song you guys love, very mysterious
- ‘Satisfied’ shows his guitar skills
- ‘Don’t Mean Nothin’ is a great uptempo song, and the video features his first wife, Cynthia Rhodes (aka Penny from Dirty Dancing, among other things)
- ‘Beautiful Goodbye’ is a much more recent song (the man has been writing & recording for 30+ yrs!), and the (extremely hot!) video features his second wife (though I’m not sure they were married at the time), Daisy Fuentes Marx (aka MTV VJ, among other things)
- ‘Now and Forever’ is my own personal favourite Marx song
"Satisfied" the Richard Marx Rock song! Great guitars!
Richard Marx - one of the best!
You should try “Don’t Mean Nothing” I Believe it was his first hit....More of a rock song. It’s really good!
Like I said on your first Richard Marx reaction, he had just the perfect pop voice. He was all over the radio late 80s, early 90s. I actually like his faster tempo songs better. Try his first hit "Dont Mean Nothing" or the one that will get stuck in your head "Shoulda Known Better" or "Satisfied".
Guys Richard Marx does have great hits but PLEASE GUYS! PLEASE!
react to some more George Michael " One More Try"
Very emotional and what a story he sings about....................
And kissing a fool! ❤
Not to take away from your George Michal choice of One More Try. Good song. I personally was hoping they would react to George Michael's "I Want Your Sex". But yeah, Richard has many more hits. He had a great run.
@@dustinjones8887 ooohhh yeah forgot about that song but just watched Jay and Amber look at each other with nothing to say would be priceless... But one of them would be bumping their shoulders and probably be like Ah huuuhhh... Lolol...
Richard Marx…. Such a great artist! 😊
A few great upbeat, Richard songs to check out, would be Don’t Mean Nothing, Should’ve Known Better, and Take This Heart. But another great slow song and I mean great slow song by him to check out would be Now and Forever.
Yes Richard Marx, another great talent from my hometown of Chicago, Illinois U.S.A.!!
Omg, y'all the memories!!! 😊Love Richard Marx! I think you guys would love Don't Mean Nothing-- a different side of him!
I forgot about Don't Mean Nothing 0! Great song!
Guys, this one was, for sure a hit, back in the day. Very smooth. Nice.
He played at our community lake a few years ago. Great performance. Great voice. Found out some songs he wrote for others that were hits
His song DON'T MEAN NOTHIN is a Must Hear!
This song takes me back to my first love and the summer nights out at Lake Hefner. "Time was all we had until the day we said goodbye."
He is truly one of the nicest and sweetest guys! Met him numerous times as he lives/lived a few towns over from me and had shopped at the men's clothing store my Dad use to work at and ironically my Dad's band opened for him and Vertical Horizon one summer during the local fest. This brings back memories.
If you want uptempo, Satisfied, Don’t Mean Nothing, and Should’ve Known Better are the ones. If you want haunting and nostalgic, check out Hazard. Also, it is NOT a love song
"Hazard" is the iconic mystery story telling song for Richard Marx. "Satisfied" is a really upbeat one which would be my favourite song and also "Should've known Better" is pretty upbeat too
He’s got so many songs for you guys to do.. try- now and forever
Love Richard Marx. One of the great solo artists of the time. Check out Jon Secada. This guy was another solo artist who was very, very good. You can start with Just Another Day or Angel. You won't be disappointed.
Seconding Jon Secada. Such an amazing artist!
Yes! Jon Secada Please Just Another Day
Finally back to Richard Marx. When you reacted to his "Right Here Waiting", I wrote a comment for it about most likely "Hazard" would be the next song, but since it`s a ballad and I want like Jay for you to see more rocking side, I still as last year want the song "Satisfied" the most.
I did mentioned "Don`t Mean Nothing" that is also a good faster song choice and "Now and Forever" as another great ballad. And still so many more good songs. Please don`t wait that long for next time!
What a great time!!!!! Hearing this brings me right back. And I wouldn't change anything.
Richard Mark will forever take me back to my childhood in the 80's. He is such a good singer and songwriter. This song always made me long for a summer romance.
You want up tempo, wait, I use to shake all over the house to "Don't Mean Nothing" and that great guitar with "Satisfied" and now my little one is grooving to it as well. Haven't seen anything yet from a brilliant artist.
Richard Marx plays the piano in one of his songs call Right Here Waiting For You
I remember when this came out in early summer, was played on light rock radio and mtv constantly all that summer
Fun Fact: Richard Marx released 12 singles to start his career, from 1987-1992
The first 7 all were Billboard Top 5 hits, with 3 #1s ("Endless Summer Nights" was #2 in 1988)
The next 5 singles were all Top 20 hits
So 12 singles, 12 straight Top 20 hits
Yeah it was a crazy run that bizarrely has kind of been forgotten.... His voice was inescapable from like 1988-1993.
Endless Summer Nights is One Gorgeous Classic
I'm glad when I was in school summer vacation ran from the beginning of June all the way to the end of August/Labor Day. Kids need that time to be a kid! That said, I'm definitely a Richard Marx fan. His voice is great. "Take This Heart", "Should Have Known Better", "Satisfied".
And yet another brilliant, underrated singer with an amazing voice. Please make your next Richard Marx song - "Hazard." That's my personal favorite and one of his most successful songs.
Oh Lord, now I’m thinking about what’s his face again. 😂 The power of music. Dang it.
Omg right??? It’s been 30 years! Why?!? 😂😂😂
I always listen to this song during the Sunmer. I love it!
Underrated vocalist and songwriter... and, I appreciate that he's actually singing in his video instead of just lip syncing, which most did during the 80's. You can see him using proper breathing techniques even though it's just a video.
I think this is probably my favorite Richard Marx song. Other banger he has are; "Hold on to the nights", "Children of the night" and "Hazzard".
Richard is also an amazing song writer too. If Amber or Jay were Nsync fans, they may know the song "This I promise you". Written by Richard. 😊
-#cheers-- !-
“Shoulda known better” is what you’re looking for by Richard Marx
Please, Please, Please consider his 1991 hit "HAZARD" - it's one of my favorite songs of his - has a haunting vibe to it and the lyrics are mysterious - the music video is also top-notch! Keep smiling y'all!
Love Richard Marx. Highly recommend his song Hazard
Spring, 1988!! Loved this cut!!👍
Yeah, Marx was a hallmark 80's solo artist. He's got a lot of cool hits you guys could react to.
Uptempo- should’ve known better, too late to say goodbye, satisfied, don’t mean nothin’, take this heart, nothin’ you can do about it, heart on the line, the way she loves me, front row seat,
Down tempo & mid tempo-Hazard (do video), hold on to the nights, nothing left behind us, now and forever, KEEP COMIN’ BACK, ready to fly, whatever we started, last thing I wanted, another one down, limitless, same heartbreak different day
So many, you guys have barely scratched the surface!!!!!
Beautiful song
Man I just loved Richard Marx back then. I was in high school and one of his songs reminds me so much of my high school sweetheart when we broke up.
I had such a crush on Richard Marx. I was 17 crushing on a celebrity that was 24...😍🥰
Richard Marx wrote This I Promise You for *NSYNC. There’s a great video of him singing it with JC Chasez , live. I think you guys would love it!
As mentioned below "Hazard" is great, as is "Hold On to the Night" and "Keep coming back" w/ the great Luther Vandross on backing vocals.
Richard Marx is most known for his ballads, but he's put out some upbeat songs, as well. I'd look first at "Satisfied," and then "Don't Mean Nothing" and "Should've Known Better." And if you're in the mood for a more haunting story, check out "Hazard."
Richard Marx...bring it on. ..great song...seen him live a few times... absolutely awesome live.
You should do Kenny Rogers - Crazy. It was the first song Richard Marx wrote that was a big hit. Richard was singing background vocals for Lionel Ritchie, and Lionel recommended him to Kenny. While singing background for Kenny, he overheard that Kenny wanted another ballad and Richard Marx went home that night and wrote Crazy. The rest is history.
This is my favorite Richard Marx song. You should also check out his live version in concert with saxophonist Dave Koz. I think that video is still up on YT.
This song was one of those love songs high school and college girls loved...like me😊 Try Richard Marx --- "Should Have Known Better" for a much more uptempo song you'll enjoy. PS. He still sounds good live😊
You finally got to more Richard.❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love Richard Marx voice! Hearing him always takes me back to the 80's. Richard Manx is married to the actress/dancer from Dirty Dancing, Cynthia Rhodes. The one that played Patrick Swayze's dance partner, Penny. They have 3 sons. Richard's father was a Jazz pianist in Chicago.
This has always been my favorite Richard Marx song. It’s got a gentle groove.
Richard wrote NSYNC hit "This I Promise You" in 2000. One of the best love songs ever!
Richard Marx is such a talented song writer - this lost love classic is very compelling but matched with the video makes it EPIC! The story telling of the director set to the changes in the music - switching color to indicate the past, the intro of the love interest and her doofus boyfriend. The slow build of her long look at Richard - hoping for more in a relationship, he sees her. She's motivated to make her move, take her bf's drink, bumps Richard to let him know she's there. While seated she desperately wants confirmation, he slowly takes the drink but does not make eye contact. She's down but not disparaged. He goes to shoot and gives her the smile she needs- love blooms! This could be the best storytelling set to music ever...
Marx an 80's ICON. Brilliance all day.
I love Richard Marx! Great singer and wonderful voice. This is one of my favorites!
***R. Marx had a much more uptempo hit titled “Should’ve Known Better” featuring a video with the classic ‘80s to early ‘90s MTV “look” featuring the hot groupie who checks Richie out and loses the wedding ring when they hook up, not to mention they both have these huge manes of ‘80s hair….this performance has all the cliches…you’ll love it!
Loved this guy for forever! You already did it but Right Here Waiting is one of my personal favorites. ❤
His best up-tempo for me is "Satisfied". Can´t believe it only has 4m streams on Spotify. After all it was a nr1 hit on the Billboard in -89.
Heh. People who cherish Marx' music (and others from those days) don't download or stream music. They hunt for CDs...or vinyl.
(Guess how I know.) 😁
I love everything by him
He's great. He's also written for other artists. And yep. I saw him in concert way back when 😊
Richard Marx was BIG in the early 90s. He had some bangers. Like "Right here waiting". "Hazard" "Hold on to the night" just to name a few.
You guys nailed it. Many many many of us sat back and reminisce on a lost love!
Richard Marx's voice is the 80s wrapped up into one nice and tidy sound. Saw him early in his career and to this metalhead I'm glad Richard Marx inserted some bookmarks in my growing up years. Thank you Mr Marx.
Squeee! You guys just made my night! Richard Marx is such a treasure. And he DOES have some GREAT uptempo songs - please please don't give up on him. Check out Don't Mean Nothin, It's Too Late to Say Goodbye, Should've Known Better and Loney Heart. I promise he can do more than ballads - he's a GREAT rocker in his more uptempo music.
If you want to check out some more upbeat Richard Marx, I would suggest, Don't Mean Nothing, Satisfied and/or Should've Known Better.
Hold on to the Night, Don’t Mean Nothing, Right Here Waiting are all great songs by Richard Marx
Love, love, love Richard Marx anything he sings is great and he sure is easy on the eyes. I'm never disappointed with his songs
I saw him Friday night in concert. Although I went to see the opening act Yacht Rock Revue. Due to the rain many stayed home so it was like going to a small venue. He is a prolific writer and great entertainer.
I've been waiting for you two to get to this one, this one hits deep. I used to spend the summer with my aunt in Florida. Met a girl and we had a summer fling, then I had to go back home, never saw her again, I'd listen to this song on tape over and over, that was about 30 years ago.
Richard Marx is currently on an acoustic tour. The last concert I saw before the lockdowns was an acoustic double bill with him and Rick Springfield. Great show. His wife is former MTV VJ Daisy Fuentes.
Richard Marx was a powerhouse through the 80s and early 90s. He also sang background with Lionel Richie and many others! He has written songs for many artists, too!
I love Richard Marx's music...and he was such a damn cutie!!!
This song is a time machine. ❤
This song and one of your last with Boy Meets Girl, heavy on the Saxophone. Great choices
Love Richard Marx. Such a great singer
Every time horns kick in now, Amber gives a nod and a Thank you guys, I know this one’s for me, grin to the camera.
It’s adorable to see appreciation for appreciation.
