    This video was SPOT ON!!! I’ve been imitating pretty much all my life but once everyone started telling me they want to hear my voice I was confused and didn’t know what that was but now I’m starting to find it but lack the confidence because I don’t know where I fit in. This was amazing thank you!

    I think I know where I fit in , whenever I sing a soft quiet song I naturally want to sing louder and higher , so I definitely think I’m a theater/Disney kinda styled singer ❤️

    Accepting your own voice is one of the hardest things to do in my opinion. I listened back to an old recording and realized that my tonal quality had changed (after a few months of vocal lessons) because I was no longer trying to sound like my favorite artist and was more focused on my own voice and how to sing. I was essentially faking a darker tone so that I could sound like Christina Aguilera, but my voice is not really like that

    I'd love to sing folk songs like Hozier does, but I've been trained in sort of musical theatre and chamber choir settings. I find after a while of listening to folk the inflections and rhythms come more naturally. I'd love to ask my teacher to help me improve on that more, but she's classically trained and I'm not sure she'd be able to or willing to help me in that area, because classical style is seen as 'better quality' and 'cleaner' than folk style, it seems to me

    • @Singerssecret
      @Singerssecret  Před 2 lety +1

      I was in a similar situation when I started. I was only taught classical and musical theatre and it wasn't until I sought out someone who specialised in jazz that I really took on the feel of that genre. There's nothing 'better quality' about one musical style over the other. its all just music and how we express ourselves. If you like folk, then sing folk and find a teacher who does this style. If you want to sing classical, then stick with a classical teacher.

    I think that my limits are control and "fullness" of my voice (sometimes even agility). I'm trying to figure out a number of songs that I can call my "workhorse". Sometimes I feel depressed because the woman I can call my "vocal idol" is Beyoncé. I don't have nor the growl she has (I have only clean voice) nor her "power" (not to mention her vocal range). Sadly :'D
    Except for "Halo" that I can sing kinda good! Than I'm good on Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, "At last" by Etta James (kind of), and in general on pop music. Which is pretty bad considering that I'm a girl who loves rock music! But definitely I love singing so I don't mind!

I took choir in school and enjoyed singing on my free time and listen to a variety music

    I love your videos, I learned more about my voice in your belting video than I did in 6 years of choir and years of lessons. I am interested in the Singing Academy, but I'm curious if it caters to all styles or just jazz and blues? When I was in choir in high school I was a coloratura, and I'm currently many years out of practice, I checked and my singable range is still G3 to E6 its just not pretty, and I definitely have some bad habits.

    • @Singerssecret
      @Singerssecret  Před 5 lety

      Thanks Katie! The Academy gives you an understanding of how to use your voice, so no matter what kind of music you sing, you'll benefit. However, in the last two weeks I go into vocal techniques specifically for jazz and blues.

    I find that it's hard also to not have in the back of your mind the original version of a song you love and probably that's why you pick to work with. I started vocal training thinking my style would be completely different , I still haven't figured it out just yet but I know what doesn't suit me 😂

    For a long time I've been imitating my favourite singers but then I realised I need to copy the style and the techniques not their voice, cuz that hurt my own voice after a while. Now I practice every song with healthy techniques first then later when performing I add the style and the feeling I want to convey, focusing on only techniques is kinda boring.

    Hi Nicola. Can you give me an advice please. I have learned (for 4 years) classical singing in Switzerland. I like to sing pop/rock Songs. I also can belt and I thing that I have this kind of airy "rock singer voice". But I can't turn of the vibrato!! It comes without thinking about it. I think it's a classical singer habit. But, how can I sound more like a pop singer and how can I bend the vibrato? Everytime I sing a tone without vibrato, it sounds not correct lol. Thank you and I really like your videos 😊

    • @lesserafimchangedmylife
      @lesserafimchangedmylife Před 6 lety
