Congratulations, Tisha. I missed your vlogs. What is so disappointing about these apt hunting videos is that they seem like slum lords. They don't even take the time to clean, or make it enticing with a bait and switch. It's like they feel people are so desperate to pay those rental rates regardless of the condition.

If you walk into an apartment and they haven't even bothered to clean it up for the viewing...you can be sure that building maintenance is abysmal. And I wouldn't trust them saying that the apartment will be getting painted or any other updates...most likely won't happen.

I think your Sister is right to extend your time in your current apartment. And always trust your first instinct, especially that weird guy outside one of your viewings😮. I think I remember you saying you wanted to live IN Manhattan. A tip, I heard it from someone who lived in NYC: why not try finding an apartment a few blocks right OUTSIDE of the area you want to be in, like one - five or so blocks outside of it. Because I heard, it would be cheaper and yet still really close to the area you want to be in. I heard that tip months ago and thought it was good advice for anyone wanting to live in NYC but feeling they couldn’t afford to live in the neighborhood they really wanted to. Good wishes to you.😊
Try searching in Rego park or forest hills in queens. You will be right off queens Blvd. the train and mall & shops are nearby. The E or F will take u to the city in 20 mins! (I live here 😂)
Lol not me coming to comment the same thing because I also live near by! 😂 I think also giving Long Island City in Queens a chance might be worth it! Close to the city, lots of new high rise buildings in her price range! With washer and dryers too! 🥰
Can you try looking at apartments in Long Island City, Queens? It's 15 minutes away from Manhattan. The 90 percent of the buildings, near the #7 train, are recently built.
But if your building is right by the LIR tracks or train, it's terribly loud. I left asap after a year!
I live in a high rise in LIC a couple of blocks away from the trains. Never have I been subject to the traffic and/or train noise. And I have friends, who also live in the area, a few blocks from the train, on the sixth floor of the building. They don't have problems with any street noises either. It's a matter of how close to traffic you choose to live.
Girl come over to Brooklyn! You'll get so much more space for your money.

I also broke my lease and then changed my mind. They were cool about it and laughed while I was thanking them that I'm not going to be homeless now 😂 It was a little bit embarrassing but one year later I'm still living in that apartment🤷 That being said, I'm still rooting for you to find your dream apartment! :)

Dont settle move many you tubers show many Apts way better for ur price limit maybe ur not looking in the right area blessings that u find a safe bldg with all u need❤
Tisha the material is expanding foam and was done haphazardly. Pest may eat through that too. It could be done better at least for esthetics. I think not having a washer and dryer in the building is a deal breaker.
Do what’s best for you! Don’t move into some dump because you feel pressure, especially if it doesn’t feel safe

I can only imagine how you felt! The only one I kinda liked was the one where you were waiting outside with a bunch of people. that fluffy hard stuff in the cupboard is expandable foam that you use to fill a cavity but don't be fooled, mice, rats and roaches can all chew through it.Good luck with the search.

I live in Texas so I am not familiar with rentals codes in NYC. However that creepy guy who was aware what apt you toured made me wonder if they are obligated to change the locks. It would certainly be a priority.

Wishing you luck on your search! As a fellow nyc moldy apt survivor, middle floors are a good bet- top floors often have leaks from the roof and ground/lower floors can have prior flooding damage. I had to throw all my belongings out after I left the mold, it all smelled and couldn’t be saved… I hope your issue isn’t that bad. 🫶

#24- I can understand the radiator thing. A loud radiator at a BNB almost single handedly ruined my NY trip last month. Hotels from here on out lol

I know you've mentioned you don't want to move back to JC and you really want to live in Manhattan, but what about Hoboken? You'll def get a much nicer place for your money, maybe even an in-unit washer/dryer. There are still great food options in the area, it's safe, and it's incredibly easy to get into the city either the PATH or NJT bus. You also won't have to pay the city tax of working in NJ and living in NY (assuming you get that now, not sure if you do). Just something to consider. I do hope you find your dream apartment but I just think the market is not in your favor right now. It's wild.

the struggle is everywhere. rents are high, but what you get is not much. having said that, manhattan itself is pricey. for anything really decent - unless you get very lucky - you have to hit the $3000 mark. maybe it is time to look at another borough? doesn't even have to be far!
Heyy, thank you for the suggestion. I used to live in downtown Jersey City (very close to the city) and moved to the city as I have been wanting to do so. I work in NJ and have to commute to work twice a week starting March. Because of the commute, I am hoping to find sth in Manhattan 🤞🏽
2600mo = 31,200 thousand a YEAR!!! that is crazy to spend that much on an apartment & they are shoeboxes. Move to Brooklyn, Manhattan is ridiculously priced

Love seeing your videos. Have you thought about finding apartments in queens or Long Island city? With your budget you have chance of having spacious and great apartments out there . The apartments in manhattan seems so pricey and not in great conditions. Anyway good luck .
Congrats! You are right, the last batch of apartments were NOT it 😂 I do hope you find a place you love and that feels like home soon! Even if you do have to stay an extra month where you are now, increase your budget, or look outside of the area of where you were hoping to find your new home! Congratulations on reaching 10K!!! Sorry the apartment hunting was so poor but you WILL find the apartment meant for you. Your sister is right - swallow your pride and approach your current landlord to finish out your lease. That will give you a more comfortable time frame to find your new home.

Better places in Brooklyn for better prices! Easy trains to get into Manhattan from trains 2 & 5 depending where you stay. Manhattan's great, but it ain't all that!

Like you was looking for a true one bed as a single person. But thankfully where I've ended up is now good after getting a load of problems sorted. I hope you find the place for you

Congrats on 10k subscribers. Just a tip! If you are paying a broker's fee for an apartment, it would definitely help to enlist a broker to find apartments for you. Let them do the work being that you're paying a fee anyway. You also will come across as a stronger applicant to the listing broker. If you were looking in brownstone Brooklyn, I would definitely help you out (maybe you should look there as well. The apts are bigger and the commute to the city, depending on what part of Brooklyn can be anywhere from 15-30 mins). Hope you find your place soon! 💓
