- Hi everyone! In this video I show how I have taken the Matrix box, a technique that is typically associated with serialism and 12tone music, and incorporated it into my own work as a composer. I hope you enjoy!

This is a really cool way of thinking! What you built in the second half of the video was basically Hugo Riemann's Tonnetz, which I've been trying to figure out how to use to come up with interesting chord progressions. Definitely look more into that, it describes a whole lot more when it comes to modal music.
Thanks for watching! I need to study more of Riemann's theories for sure
What a great way to make music. Seems like a great way to start exploring harmony outside the typical diatonic chords.
absolutely!
I was expecting this to have at least 100k views when I was done watching… Priceless for melody/riff writing!
you are very kind!
Real cool man! Thanks for sharing.
thanks for watching!
Fun thing; thank you! Now I’m wondering how it would work in a modal context, where inversions were constrained to the scale.
It can absolutely work with modes! I do it all the time :)

@@darushkii Have you checked out the raga permutation technique called “merukhand”? It will give more combinations than the matrix, but perhaps lack the thematic integrity of the matrix.
