    Shut Down is sampled from a classical song “La Campanella” by Franz Liszt and Niccolò Paganini.

    • @M_Carter_
      @M_Carter_ Před rokem +21

      i honestly have mixed feelings about samples being used to this extent, though. i think sampling's best when it's used in genuinely creative and unexpected ways, e.g. building a whole new song of a completely genre from a classical sample. but with these sample packs they're basically lifting entire loops/melodies wholesale with minimal changes, effects, or modifications. i think most producers worth their salt should for the most part be creating their own sounds and samples from scratch instead of just relying so heavily on these sample packs to do the work and essentially slapping a beat and some vocals over the top

  • @AR19167
    @AR19167 Před 2 lety +100

    Heh, this explains why I like the semi-Middle Eastern sounds of BlackPink's music, they got it from KSHMR, who I was fond of during the big room/progressive EDM days.
    Sampling is something I've been interested in music, whether directly getting other songs or from royalty free packs, and is not confined to Blackpink at all so it was fascinating to know which ones Teddy Park and co. used . Though ngl it's a bit surprising that even some of the drops themselves are samples, just distorted, mixed and had different effects. It's relatively easy to create with using actual synths (not for me but for an experienced producer).
    Man if only KSHMR and Blinders, whose styles woud fit BlackPink really well imo, would work with them.

      @_greenbean09 Před rokem +18

      Lisa's debut was built on the hype around the fandom wanting the girl to go solo despite the time being so early yet for such a thing. Rosé's solo debut was planned for so long but they delayed it as for Rosé wanted her personal touch and involvement in the process.
      I really agree with the idea that Lisa's debut as a soloist is just an excuse to BLACKPINK having zero plans for 2021. The group still lacks substance in their discography and highly needed an amount of songs released for them to be fitting of their title as the biggest girl group of their time. What's actually funny is that both of Lisa's singles were highly built off of samples which speaks volumes about how they treated and marketed her as a soloist. Less effort, because the profits are sure to be bigger than what was invested.

      Love Dive is a huge example of having used tons of samples and basically being song of the year, but people commented nothing. Why? cause it aint blackpink. Also songs like Hype Boy (newjeans), After Like (IVE), Next Level (remake, aespa), Nxde (Gidle) etc are all big hits using samples for the main part of the song but no one gets the hate that bp does lol.
