When I launch the game the file re appears into the folder
@@3lliotf659 the file should reappear, as it is basically a "reset". But if you still can't get into the sim, then unfortunately you have another issue that I can't answer here?

NO WAY THIS WORKED! I UNINSTALLED AND INSTALLED MY GAME FOR IT TO STOP SHOWING "SETTINGS DEFAULTS" AND IT DIDNT WORK NOW I FOLLOWED UR TUT AND IT WORKED!

I know also I ran into problems with replays of races that were very long in duration .The 24 hours of Le Mans ! Jody found you can over ride the memory limit if you are using Content manager.It let me do the race after many tries where only the second half of the race was recorded.I did have to excellerate the day night cycle to get in before the limit was reached.So wonderful assettocorsa is workable even when you push it way past its design threshold .:>) I love it indeed.As we all do.Cheers again.

For some reason, mine doesn't work, I have followed the steps for the 'Setting Defaults' glitch, but I can't get round to fixing it. Are there any other tips you could help me with please?
No sorry, as my solution has always worked for me. The only tip I can offer (other than the obvious google search) is that I have heard that the number of cars to stop AC from loading is DIFFERENT for many people. So if you know you have 400-500 cars, still give the first part of the video a try, as you have nothing to loose by at least trying it, to see if it helps... (GOOD LUCK!!!)

Yeah very sorry to hear that Secours - my trick fixed the problem for a lot of people, but i did hear of this one other error that they couldn't seem to fix. But before making the video, I tried to find the 3rd answer/fix for your error - but never was able to find it. The only answer is to download (for free) the Content Manager, and you won't have that problem. For the record, I'd say 70-90% of all serious Assetto Corsa users now run the Content manager, it is that good... good luck.
@@SingleRacerSVR do you launch the game from CM? This problem fix works with me when i rename the assetto corsa folder in files but its very annoying that you have to set up everything again, wheel, neck fx everything.
@@jjuutis yes I do - I've been using CM for a couple of years now, and it is much better than using the default AC Menu. But just a lot to take in at first, if you've never used it before...

No, sorry TheRealRandy_... I did many Google searches, but was never able to find a second solution to your problem. Of course that was around 3 years ago as you say - so hoping you might have better luck now. I'm guessing that you want to stick with the AC Menu, but at least you know it still works with Content Manager. Best of Luck. 🤞🤞🤞

You Sir are Brilliant !!! 564 never would I have found this.I have over one hundred and fifty GIGS of cars for Assetto Corsa.Now to be honest they are scattered over six hard drives and two computers.I found Michael that always having one folder with only stock Kunos cars named something other than cars.I could always choose that folder re-name it and Assettocorsa stock UI will load just fine every time.Then going back to content manager it also now worked fine too.And now I can choose any other folder filled with my own re-mods of hundreds of cars and every one worked perfectly.On both UI's.The problem reciently was a windows update.But I didn't find it was actually effecting me.As when I checked my files were in order.But this new stroke of genious !!! spelled wrong or not.Is fastenating .Most times I only use a folder having under 100 cars,as I work on one bunch and store them.Fetching another to work on.I have just begun the Movie :>) So I am not dead,wounded,or have a Girl Friend :>( So Jody just got proper AI lines on Desert Route today and SingleRacer I am finding new Wind in my sail once more .Thank you for making this video man,you are helping untold numbers of people.Cheers Mate.

Hi I just bought and installed assetto corsa and after installing it I launched the game and it's always stuck at the "loading module" (I've waited for an hour and tried to relaunch it)I don't know if it's a bug or broken so if you can tell me how to fix or tell me if I just have to wait. Thank you
Lavender PH, if you followed my advise from the second part of this video - then I don't have a solution to your problem. But if you just bought & installed AC, then you should really get Content manager here : assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html. It is totally free for the basic version, and almost every single person running AC for a long time uses it - and it should let you get going past your login problem?

Sorry to hear that Josh, as this was the only answer I personally could find. But have you confirmed that you don't have more cars in your car folder than you might think (the first half of the video fix) - try moving half out, and see if that fixes it, as some mods could possibly be faulty?

the setting defaults fix doesnt work i did uninstall the file still nothing
i ended up just deleting the exe and verifying the game catch content. it solved the issue. if you have mods that alter the games normal operations the verifying will revert those settings. you may have to reinstall things like smoke mods and sounds etc that are not part of the original content.

The only thing left after Gopherchucks advise - is to consider joining the ASSTTO CORSA FORUM. Cos that is really the only place left that can solve your problem with someone else who has been thru the same issues already. Sorry, we couldn't help, but good luck again....

I got a problem, my underscore local storage thing keeps appearing.
It is supposed too, Biscuit - as the fix is basically just a "reset", and then everything hopefully works. If you are still having an issue getting into the game - then unfortunately it is something else causing the problem that I was never able to find an answer for?. Generally by deleting the file, it seems to help about 80% of the time...

ive deleted the "file__0.localstorage" so many times and every time i try to start the game it just keeps redownloading it everyttime i start and then im just staring at a "setting defaults" screen for hours i havent downloaded any new mods or anything so im not sure why its not working. any help is appreciated. oh yeah ive already uninstalled the game and reinstalled the game.
Nowuh b, when I researched the fix for this video - some other people told me about the problem your having. The file itself IS supposed to come back, but the fix is kind of a "reset". So I think the problem you are having relates to something else, but I was never able to find the answer to what that was?. Are you sure you don't just have too many cars in the cars directory, like I did in the second first half of the video?

Who want's a "better fix", use Content Manager for quicker usability and more options as Custom Shaders Patch. The OG launcher is quite bad at optimizations

hello, i used the assetto corsa for days, but now it got stuck on the setting defaults, i searched the file__0.localstorage and it didn't appear, i have deleted some car mods, didn't do deleting files by accident, please help thanks
There did seem to be a 3rd reason it wouldn't start - but I was never able to find out the answer. Try moving ALL the cars out of the cars folder into a temporary directory, just to see if AC will start then? - but if it doesn't, you'll have to do some more research I'm afraid. Good Luck with it.
For me its different, I have 316 cars on my folder and when I deleted a car from the file and actually got in, weird. Maybe its different for a lot of systems.
Ahh, thanks for sharing that info, FeintOW. I'm guessing it may have a lot to do with either system ram - or the ram that Assetto Corsa can access, as to how many cars you can include (who knows? ; ).

htyuw - I think you have no cars in your car folder, because you were looking in the wrong place. This is because there are actually TWO Assetto Corsa created Folders. The first is under the Windows C Drive, under YOUR USERNAME/DOCUMENTS - and mine has no cars under that car folder either. This is where all your wheel settings / setups / and replays are saved too, when you create them. So if you don't know where your actual Assetto Corsa Folder is for all you cars - then do this. Start Steam / Click on Assetto Corsa in your game list / right-click it, and you should see the word MANAGE / then go down to highlight that, and you will see a BROWSE LOCAL FILES option. Click on that, and it will show you where you installed the actual game. (maybe make a note of it, to remember for later as well). Best of Luck with it all, htyuw

i just started using content manager and i can see all my cars in cm so i assume that the cars are being run through cm but its only allowing 583 cars until it dose the game freeze at 100% cars loading screen, is this normal?
Interesting - so just to be clear harlyquin, are you saying that it freezes at 583 cars in the ORIGINAL AC Menu, or is it ALSO? freezing in Content Manager. I ask this because nearly 99.9 of CZcams Creators run CM now - so if it is not doing it in CM you shouldn't worry about it. as that is what we all use anyway. But if it DOES? do it also in Content Manager, I'll have to check if there is a virtual RAM slider somewhere?. As I am currently up to 686 cars total at the moment.
@@SingleRacerSVR to be honest i didnt know you could even launch the game from cm, i only installed cm the other week because i needed to adjust some settings in the custom shaders pack, ive actully been launching the game though the oculus menu for VR.
@@harlyquin fair enough. Just a tip then knowing you can go to the first TAB called DRIVE, and launch CM straight away as long as you remember to start Steam first. So my simply tip (because this is exactly what I do), is to open CM, and go to the SETTINGS/ASSETTO CORSA/VIDEO TAB. On the middle-left of the settings you will see the first option called RENDERING MODE. Here is where you can change it back & forth from SINGLE SCREEN to OCULUS RIFT. But my tip is to then go to the bottom right, and you will see a little SAVE PRESET BUTTON. Here you can save higher quality settings for your MONITOR / but then lower any settings if you need to for VR, and save that as as totally separate setting. This way you can just click on the "drop-down box" next to that save preset button, and pick either the MONITOR or your VR and you can instantly pick your car & track, and race or hotlap under the DRIVE TAB again, and go racing exactly the way you want too. Good Luck with it, harlyquin.

yeah, it's actually supposed to come back abc xyz - but it's like a reset that (sometimes?) fixes the problem.

That's a tough one, Andre - cos it could be 2 different reasons. The first - which I've had - is a corrupted MOD, with missing files that won't load in EITHER a race, or the showroom (this has happened to me many times - and I just delete the MOD out of the Assetto Corsa Cars Directory. But if you can't even do it with a default AC car, like the Toyota GT86 - then you might have to do a major change to your game files, but you have to be sure you want too - as you will most likely lose all your Hotlap times/records. Read please all the info in this forum, and that should help you?... GOOD LUCK!!!

I have a problem, after I finish a race, my cursor isn't appearing and I'm not able to get out of the results menu
Sorry Jamie, but I've never heard of that problem before - hopefully someone else reading this might have the answer?. All I can do is try to think of what I would do - and my first reaction could be that the mouse is losing "focus". So if you know how to ALT-TAB - then this happens to me when I am recording these video's. So I have 4 windows open, and when I ALT-TAB just to confirm that the recording software has the AC footage within it's window. When I go back to race in AC, sometimes the controls won't work - because even though I went back to that AC window, I didn't actually HIGHLIGHT (as in ALT-TAB) back to that AC window. So the recording software window still had control of my er, um controls. I hope that makes sense?..... GOOD LUCK!!!

Hello people! Yesterday I was meet with this problem in Assetto Corsa, regular one 1.16.3 version and game couldn't load metadata, and it was stuck on 100 percent.I haded 601 car.I was do next, i was deleted all cars from Asseto corsa car folder, but first im copy same cars on another partition. After that i was copy all cars with basic skins, not with skins what people made its just regular ones and cars are just from people who know how to made mods. Sim racing, Unitedracingdesign, and others checked sites with they originals skins. I was reach 570 cars and game was smooth, evrything loading normal, what made the point the just number of the cars isnt problem. If that is, we all will be stuck on 564 and thats it, but that is not the case. I was continue to 590 and i was put back all cars exept one, Honda Nsx gt3 evo version 1.7.7,converted mod from Competocione, and that mod request for work custom shader patch. Dont want who converted to mention but conclusion is very bad made mods for Asseto Corsa r skins inside mods.
When download metadata bad mods are always last in game to check. Thank you and im hope the im help somone with this problem. Instal only quality mods and skins!

Have you check if it is just cars or cars and tracks?
Idk - because as a rule, there are so many more car mods than tracks, I have a simple way to figure out it's not a track problem. You would simply make a new directory (like I already have permanently) right next to your "tracks folder" (so in my case it's for the cars - and I simply call it carsTEMPHOLD). So for BOTH cars & tracks, all OFFICIAL AC KUNOS cars & tracks start with the same name, by starting with the letters ks_
So there is no harm whatsoever in moving ever single track except one (say ks_brands_hatch for example). And that way if the game won't start you can figure out if it's a car mod error - but if the game starts, then you could do what I did in the video, and re-add a few TRACKS at a time, till you get to where you can't start the game to figure out if it's in fact a car mod problem, or a track mod problem...……………………………………….. hope that helps.
The menu still says 'Setting default' what do i do? have i forgot something?
Sorry Marcus, as I know some people still get the error, but they are the only two fixes I can suggest for now. But I have two other possible solutions, but they require a bit more work. The first would be to join the Official Assetto Corsa Forum, and ask there. As the people that have had this problem in the past, are the best ones to help you. The second is to do a search in Google for "Content Manager" - as the basic version is FREE, and that should allow you to enter the game (you still need to start/open Steam first) but it skips/bypasses the whole menu start thing. Then you could pay a few bucks to get the FULL version if you like it, as nearly all sim-racing "Video Creators" on CZcams would be using Content Manager instead of the default AC Menu. Hope it helps....

Sorry to hear it Dom - but I personally was never able to find an alternate answer to the problem. Though this video is a few years old now, so maybe you can find the answer if you Googled it now. But have you tried the APP called CONTROL PANEL, as you shouldn't have that problem if you use it, and the basic version is FREE. You don't miss out on too much either using the free version. Almost all Sim Racing Channels use it, so if you haven't yet, it will make the Sim come alive compared to the default menu... Good Luck ; )))

Great to hear you fixed the first problem Wilson - but I'm stumped on your second problem. My only two suggestions are trying (located somewhere?) in the options, to set your monitor resolution. This is because I have an older 1080p monitor - but if it was somehow set to 1440p by accident, then the MENU BAR could? be there, but you can't go far enough to the right to access it properly, if you know what I mean. The second option is to join the dedicated Assetto Corsa Forum, as they will usually have all the answers to the most common AC problems... GOOD LUCK (and I shall PIN this message, just in case someone else knows the answer to your problem).

Matthew, your wording is a bit hard to understand - but if you are saying you can't load either a track or car to race, and it kicks you back to the screen - then try this. Check under OPTIONS/GENERAL and see if you have the setting FORCE 32bit CHECKED. Even if it is, just try unticking it - then reticking it to hopefully reset it, and see if that helps. Otherwise I can't help you, I'm afraid?

Well I have similar problem to that. When I start the game it says on loading screen and on the bottom says Settings defaults and I cant play the game
Skull Crusher 64 - most of this video is about too many cars not starting the game, but I did have the one suggestion at the very end of the video, on one way to fix that SETTING DEFAULTS Freeze. So did that not fix your problem? (just click on the time in the description, if you missed it and want to skip[ straight to it, Skull)
Well, sadly that didn't helped me. I guess I need to delete some mods may be that's the problem
Works for me: delete assettocorsa folder in "documents" folder. Launch AC, it will generate the deleted folder and start in default settings.
how is this game so fucking bad 8 years after launch, i cant even use the settings menu, it just keeps freezing, instant refund.
I doubt it's a fixed car COUNT limit, rather a storage or RAM size limit. Quickly googling this issue lead me to this thread on racedepartment from 2017: www.racedepartment.com/threads/car-limit-help-please.138677/
There, they're talking about a limit of 625 cars. So I think the launcher is actually just running out of RAM while CM does not or is a 64bit exe.
/Edit: Or CM just istn't as stupid to load ALL cars into RAM at once...

cant find the launchedata folder
pls help
THIS PC - DOCUMENTS - ASSETTO CORSA - LAUNCHERDATA
I can try and help in 3 ways Takumi, so lets see if we can find it. So if you have done like me in the past, by doing a "word" search for it, then you have spelt it wrong (done it many times myself) - as it should be LAERCHERDATA (just in case you left our the R like above). The second way is the FULL location, which should be this :- C:\USERS\YOUR NAME\DOCUMENTS\ASSETTO CORSA\;AUNCHERDATA\LOCAL STORAGE. The final tip is that not everyone first sets up their computer with their own name. So if YOU? haven't done that, or it's someone else's PC, simple check ALL the names listed under USERS (like DEFAULT USER etc) intil you find that Asstto Corsa Directory. And remember that it is not where you install the game, as that is a different thing. You need the directory under C;\USERS which saves all your personal records & settings... GOOD LUCK!!!

How do you turn off car damage on content manager
@@thiabalnuaimi5764 you go to the very first TAB called DRIVE. You go to the very bottom left, where it gives you the choice for GAMER/INTERMEDIATE/PRO. And then just under that you will see the "TIRE BLANKETS" Option with three little white dots next to it. if you click those 3 little dots you will get the menu to change not only DAMAGE OFF, but a whole heap of other settings. (P.S. If you weren't ever aware of those 3 dots before - check out other places they are in Content Manager as well - as they give you so many hidden options) Happy Racing...

Hello, well I'm looking for days, how to solve an error that happens to me in some mods that I download, that when I go with the car, the car is very very slow, and I was wondering if you know what this error is, because it is only in some car mods of mine that look like this, others look normal, if you can help me I will be happy (For those who did not understand the error here is a video of me showing the error: czcams.com/video/2tiHZj0KaiY/video.html )

@@SingleRacerSVR I managed to solve it !!!! MY GOD TOU VERY HAPPY, but I'm at the same time angry because the cars were like that because I walked with the automatic clutch slipped lol, but thanks a lot for doing this to help me

Kevin, I am only aware of the 2 fixes in this video. But if you can't find the answer yourself using Google, remember that you can use the software called Content Manager which is FREE for the BASIC version. And it will totally skip the standard AC Menu.
@@SingleRacerSVR yeah man i found the fix i just had to delete a broken car pack which i am very sad that its broken :slideboiz mod and i do plan on getting CM but i wanna play online and im not sure if i can get the CM full version since i am in lebanon and theres an economic crisis over here so i dont want to ask my parents for much
