Why Damien hated Tim is because everyone saw and acknowledged him as his father's one true successor. Damien knew that his own grandpa, Ra's himself called Tim Detective, the title of Batman. On the other hand, his mother revived and molded Jason into an unbeatable fighter. He then saw his father, with pride in his eyes everytime they met or worked with Dick. So in a way the mantle of Robin is far more important to Damien because each of them had been acknowledged by someone from his own family. That's how I see it

Tim can have the Robin mantle if he wants. DAMIAN will still inherit THE LEAGUE OF ASSASSINS, THE LEAGUE OF SHADOWS AND THE LEAGUE OF LAZARUS. The vast worldwide Al Ghul criminal empire is his real inheritance shown in Batman Beyond. Just like Octavian and The Roman Empire.

    So, essentially
Dick Greyson is arguably the most similar out of the three first Robins (not including Damian, I don't actually know much about him other than his story). Dick had his family killed in a similar manner and Batman helped him take his revenge but ultimately thought him to use favour justice over it, much like him. However, the thing about Dick that separates him is that he got over revenge, and sought justice out of responsibility, which lead him a very different path than Bruce. Dick realized this and separated himself from the idea of Batman. Robin belonged by Batman's side; Nightwing didn't.
Jason Todd is the polar opposite. He owed nothing to justice and was driven by not vengeance but injustice, unfairness, and locked away emotions. He was driven by the pleasure of being the thrill, playing Robin like a game, as Batman mentioned in Hush. Unlike Dick or Bruce, becoming a vigilante wasn't a reaction to tragedy but an expression. It was when he started expressing too much "getting his head in the game" so to speak, that he made the mistakes that Batman berated him for, causing it to spiral to his death. When he came back as Red Hood, in spite of becoming a killer, it was the closest thing to Batman he has ever been. It wasn't just an expression, he was now motivated by pain and revenge rather than it simply being an expression of the injustices that he felt.
Tim Drake, however, did it out of responsibility. It wasn't motivated by vengeance, nor any wish to release something upon the world for pleasure. He did this out of nobility. He did it because it was right. He is arguably the most noble out of the Robins because of this. He simply wished to help and I think that speaks more than a lot about his character.

That's not accurate. Dick got picked up immediyat after and created Robin. He wanted to be Robin after catching his killer.
The position had already been established. Drake also did it not out of nobility for justice but to help Batman.
Anyway that's not how nobility works. And also Dick and Jason were both much younger. 9 and 12 respectively.
And how Jason died wasnt because of some game. He died when his altruism and naivete made him trust his criminal mom(tho he didn't know that).

And if you read his "Robin" comic, we can tell early on that he was just like Clark, he simply wanted to do the right thing. And that why to me he's my favorite Robin.

Dick was always under Bruce's shadow and compared himself too him that led him to be his own superhero. Jason's ego, abandedment issues, and impulsive behavior got him killed and turning on Bruce, the one person who he thought would never abandon him but did (In Jason's eyes). Damian is desend to take over the mantle of Batman when he is ready. But one thing they all have in common was that they didn't really chose to be crimefighters. @@gregmatic2861 I wouldn’t specifically say that they didn’t know what they wanted to do with Tim and Conner after the 90s since during the 2000s they actually had a lot of character growth and stories that they would be famous for such as Geoff Johns run on Teen Titans, where they revealed that Conner is a clone of Superman and Lex Luthor, and they it to their advantage to develop Conner, cuz even though he’s a clone of a hero and a villain, he learns that it’s the path he chooses that well define him who he is. And yes, when Damian Wayne came along and became Robin, it left Tim at a awkward spot since he was well known as Robin and embraced the mantle, but I honestly think him becoming Red Robin was a good choice.
And I know people said that Tim can’t stand out of his own outside the robin mantle, but I don’t think that’s true bc the red robin series is the only series that shows that Tim can stand out on his own outside the robin mantle like Dick and Jason. And I know that Robin and Red Robin have the word “robin” but they’re actually separated identities. People forgot that the red robin mantle is supposed to symbolize ideology of Batman but just happened to have the word “Robin” in it. And when Tim took the identity of RR, even though it had the word “Robin” it was mostly a way to show Tim that is just like Bruce as a detective and at the same time it shows him that he can be more than just Batman’s partner.
So honestly I don’t think they had no idea what to do with these characters after the 90s as both Conner and Tim went through a lot of growth from Tim’s journey from Robin to Red Robin and Conner’s identity crisis. I honestly think that after flashpoint they didn’t know what to do with these characters, but I mainly blame the writers. But this is all my opinion

This is a wonderful poignant look at Tim as Robin!
I see the comments here about him not having a dark past or needing to struggle before he became Robin though. And to those I say: He had a different situation. He had parents, but with how they often they left him to his own devices he might as well had none. He was a smart kid, taught to be the poster child and self-sufficient - convenient to show off and easy to manage. Neglected and manipulated by his own parents - of course, he'd get attached to Bruce who might have been harsh in the beginning, but also praised him and cared about him as a person.

That is the thing about Tim I love he reminds me of myself in some ways(not the brilliance part), but I can verify that when someone like that sees someone who will always show interest in you, even if they do it in a strange way, you will gravitate towards that person. Just like Tim you will also realize how much you love your parents when hard times strike or you are removed form them for an extended period. Like the wise Syu said I should shut up now.

Didn't he also witness Dick's parents fall to their deaths when his dad took him to the circus to help him cope with his mother's death?
That would mess with someone and I always saw that as the reasoning behind Tim's fixation with Nightwing (because, technically, he _was_ stalking him) and his inability to cope with personal loss without losing his famous objectivity. Of course, it could also do with the fact that, like Bruce, Tim came from a life of priviledge and opportunity, but unlike anyone in the batfamily he didn't suffer the same losses as them until he was well into his teens. A high IQ can only get an individual so far if they aren't fully aware of the consequences of their actions, and while Tim seemed to think he knew what he was getting into (with Batman's training and all), it wasn't until he really got in deep enough to lose everything that the reality of the situation became clear to him. Kind of like those stories about hackers who thinks that because they've been doing it for years and have the expensive technology that they can say, "I'm calling the police" in a deep web chatroom because they let their disgust get the better of them.

Either way, dead or absent, it speaks volumes to Tim's attachment to Dick and Bruce. Both played the part of father and older brother Tim needed and wasn't getting. I will even go as far to say that, while Damian and Jason's interaction with Tim was almost always a bloody fight, it may have been a little good for him too, mostly as a life lesson of not always being the favorite in the family.
Because, let's face it, Tim was the baby of the Batfamily before Damian showed up and needed everyone's attention, so it kind of gave him a taste of what it was to be Jason Todd.

Dick as Nightwing is a great team leader because he has better trust in people than Batman.
Jason as Red Hood is a great Marksman and at times a better combatant then even Batman because he doesn't hold back and fights to win.
Tim as Red Robin or even before then is a great strategist, Detective, and leader. He's the perfect mixture of Nightwing and Batman.

Jason was filed with anger dick had self doubt and was angry at batman like u said compared himself to batman in unhealthy way and Damian well he is damian enough said😂😂 but tim was always perfect that maybe is the reason why he doesn't get the respect he deserves and that's sad cuz like outta everyone i truly think he is the best suited to be batman after bruce cuz his most important quality is that he is a detective ,

your channel deserves more subs, Sage. I just discovered you. Love your deep dive into characters and story arcs and what they embody, and how they reflect real-life problems and issues. Truly awesome, yet underrated content.

Is it me or does anyone think that Tim drake is really similar to Donatello from the teenage mutant ninja turtles

      @silentpresence6705 Před 3 lety +2

Technically that can be said by all robins and Tmnt except Damian and Michelangelo but Stephanie kinda if you want to count her run as robin

Yeah I thought so too , but when you think about it Damien and Mikey are kinda similar though , there both the you best and least skilled and sometimes Damien can be impulsive but other than that yeah each of them are very similar

I always forget about Tim Drake is DC trying to remove him from existence or something?
If it wasn't for me playing all the Arkham Games and reading files i would of never knew about him.
I know of Dick Grayson Because of Nightwing,
    Jason Todd for Red Hood
Damien Wayne for being Bruce's Son
and I know of Carrie Kelly because I like Dark Knight Returns.
I heard of Stephanie Brown, but all I know is that she died and ruined Batman's Reputation.
Stephanie Brown & Tim Drake are the two Robin's DC likes to keep out of the spotlight.

It’s funny cuz dc loooves giving dick Tim’s traits. In young justice it’s his team and his skills. And in teen Titans it’s his attitude and attire. Wtf, dc?

When I think of Robin, I think Tim. I think no one suited the role more than Tim. His transition into Red Robin was great. Dick has too much tension, mistrust, and rivalry towards Bruce. Jason had too much anger and hate, Tim was just pure Robin.
