Hi Sean, next time maybe you could chop up your potatoes, carrots, parsnips, swede in equal size, put them on a roasting tray and sprinkle with olive oil and roast the whole lot in the oven..lovely jubbly.🤗

I agree, roasted cauliflower is delicious much better than just boiled. Also saves money cooking it all in the oven at the same time.

      Look absolutely delicious :)
I was wondering about a roast, only because that is how my Nan would cook on a Sunday, par boil the potatoes, then pop everything into a roasting tray with the meat.
Although if roasting a couple of chicken breast might as well roast a whole one & save the cooked stuff for sarnies or the next night. Cook everything up, & the left overs do hash browns or bubble & squeek with a fried egg, for Mon / Tues.
Save the hot water for the gravy ;)
But to be fair, I am a rubbish cook, it all gets chopped & goes in the slow cooker.

If you cook a turkey or a chicken, put your potatoes, etc under the bird. They will soak up the oil and flavour from the bird.

I came across the live and really enjoyed it, you know in your glasses you’d make a perfect news reader. Very distinguished gentleman I must say.

I wanted to let you know how I lost 145lbs. I did no change my diet at all, what I did was portion control. I measured out what I would eat, and I used a smaller plate. That worked wonderful because it did not feel like a diet since I was still eating all the things that I love to eat. That pot that you used was a size that would feed me for a week.

Sean you should put your tea leaves in your compost bin.
If you had cooked both chicken breasts you could have that with left over veg the following day. Maybe make bubble and squeak with the veg and have with egg and bacon then use chicken for a salad or sandwiches. Only a waste too much if it ends up in the bin. Cooked veg will keep a few days in your fridge

All those veggies could go in a pan along with a sprinkle of olive oil. Cut the cabbage in thick wedges and they will all roast together as long as all the root veggies are cut in similar sizes. Then everything bakes together. Roasted veggies are so good.

When I'm outside, I pick a few dandelion leaves to add in with my lettuce salad. I dont have them every day. Google how much is enough or too much...This year I bought 3.....6 pks of different lettuce. I planted my 6 romaine in a 8" tall by 2 ft long12" wide plastic tote. No holes in bottom. I water it by hand, and put it under glass deck table incase it rains hard....brought it out in the mist yesterday...it just soaked it in......doing perfect that tote worked very well...tall sides held plants upright....I have it on the deck... benifit being there are no slugs...or snails, and its next to kitchen...I'm only going to pull off as needed leaves and harvest what I can eat...but it looks like lots of salads are in my future.

Hi from Bridgend . If you already have the oven on you could have roasted your vegetables in some oil. Alternatively airfrying the chicken and boiling /steaming the veg . I say this as you have been talking about reducing energy costs . I cook too much on the weekend and freeze meals so I avoid using the cooker during the week . I am going to try some led lights to hopefully reduce my electric usage , as you were discussing that they were cheaper. Love your videos .

Slow drains? Run hot water down sink... then drop a denture cleaning tab in ...do not add more water for a few minutes it will still have some in trap portion thats where you want the tab to stay and bubble....... after 5 mins. run hot water down again ..this is a good routine once a week...pop one in toilet bowl and tank..to help keep clean...bathtub and sink....easy peesy. No grease or fat down sink drain..scrape and wipe out frying pans with paper towel before washing...you'll thank yourself for saving yourself some grief later.

Sean you need to cut your veg more or less the same size & add at different times as they cook at different times also. Your carrots, suede, potatoes etc are harder so take longer to cook than your leeks & cabbage. I guess you know that already though being a veg grower😄 Love your videos & you are such a lovely humble man. So glad you stuck to your principals. Hard for many of us to do nowadays. Seeing you cooking every thing from fresh puts me to shame, it’s what I did for forty six years of marriage, but when my husband passed I found no satisfaction in just cooking for myself, and the amount of washing up afterwards didn’t seem worth it, but watching you put all the veg in one pan has made me think again, perhaps I will give it a try and regain my love of cooking, thank you Sean I love your videos, I am gradually working my way through your old ones.😍

    • @suebradford890

Hi Anne, if I'm cooking something for myself only, I put all the veg in one pan - it saves washing up. Only thing different from Sean, I'd put the spuds in first, bring them to boil, then add carrots, then add veg that doesn't need much cooking, ie cabbage, peas etc. at nearly the end of the boiling time. Usually have to turn the ring up when I add something new as it cools the water back down slightly!

Sean. If you want to save money on cost of living don't buy a car, unless you 'really' need it. You would be forever paying out money to keep it with very little benefit these days. Even Local Towns don't want cars on their streets
. If you can manage using buses etc you only pay for what you use when you need to travel. Ask yourself if all the extra costs are worth it. And Using a Car means very little exercise . Love your video's 👍

Unfortunately living in the Welsh Valleys the public transport system is rubbish. It's very rarely on time and services are cancelled without notice or replacement. Also the terrible weather is another factor, it's always raining that's why it's so green. Places are very spaced out and hard to reach by public transport unless you want to spend all day taking 3 or 4 buses. I've had friends stay with me from London who thought they could walk or catch public transport. They have been shocked at how bad it is. They have ended up using taxis to and from work. My friend told me it's always raining here and much colder than London. I told her It's 2 overcoats colder in the Valleys😂

Don’t why have only just seen this, I like your comment about feeding the 5,000 because the amount of food you were cooking I thought that’s the number you were cooking , then I saw your other comment about cooking too much food 😉. As for saving electric the size of pans you use it must take a long while for them to reach temperature. We don’t like roast veg, much prefer them cooked your way. Way back in the 60’s I drove a company car which was a brand new Morris Traveller.

Please throw the ground beef - See CZcamsr Marc, 'Going Solo in France'. He seriously regretted using beef past its sell by date. He started to feel better around the five day mark.

I don't have a car. They are very expensive to maintain, and these days they get stolen all the time. I like my slow living lifestyle by using cycles, trains etc even if things take me longer. Driving is not fun anyway. Much rather save money by not having a car. I live in the countryside and have managed without a car for over 25 years now

I have to agree with others on several things. Your videos are helping get me through a rough patch, the meat was off and be careful with using stainless steel on teflon. Apparently its bad for you but it will definitely scratch the teflon.
I'm off to make a pot of veggies in my tiny ricemaker. Mini appliances help me with portion control. They're all single serving. Mine are made by a company called Dash.

A big barrel ( usually plastic) to collect run off water from guttering and a downpipe. Often found on allotment sites next to a shed or greenhouse as not all sites have mains water. But they are becoming more common in gardens now as it's better for the environment.

Try sweede chips. My husband loves them. Cut into chips, spray with oil and roast in oven until soft and golden. 😊

@yolawells7015 You can eat all green/leafy bits off veggies we're just brought up not to do/doing it.
Including celery, carrots and even strawberries the leaves/stems are full of vitamins and minerals 👍

No please don’t use the Mince. Also the cabbage may make your stew more like a cabbage stew, braziers change the taste quite a bit. I became afraid you would hit the pot handle on the little pot and make the contents spill on you. As always I enjoy spending time with you. 🇨🇦
