It's amazing how a sound that was a part of near daily life that gradually fades but then all of a sudden you hear it again and you can pop back to that time of your life in an instant. Anyone that knew the sound of the dial up modem knows that feeling just like any of us that grew up along the CNW knows that gong bell. Heck except for a small handful of those locomotives that operated either before my time or when I was too young to remember or operated out of my region I have a hard time thinking of those locomotives as museum pieces.
