I was looking for an awd car for winters a few years ago. Started by looking at Subarus, and ten-year-old models with 150,000 miles were all selling for well over $10K. Sorry, not gonna happen. Stumbled upon a three-year-old 2011 awd MKZ with 18,000 miles on it for $18K. Does everything I need it to do in the snow and ice, has way more style, hasn't given me a single problem, and is plush, comfy, well appointed, and fairly sporty in its way. Handles well and with 260 HP, it's more than adequately powered. Great car, very underrated.

88 and 89 were the best of the 80's. The 88's got the first major improvement to the AOD trans. The 89 had a better looking grill. Plus in 89 the "Special Edition" PKG was available. 86-87 were great, just lacked a couple of refinements. If you still have that car get yourself a bronze bushing replacement for the AOD connection at the throttle body if you haven't already. OEM was plastic, and was the cause of a lot of heartbreak.

Recently picked up a 120k mile 2010 MKZ with a partially stuck open sunroof and grinding rear brakes for my mother for 1000 bucks. Absolutely jealous that I gave her this car, the leather and wood grain is fantastic and the Duratec is FAST with that AWD traction. This car is so comfortable and so damned fast, on the drive home it immediately reminded me of my old W220 S500 Benz and my '99 Firebird in terms of stability and the 'confidence" it provides you at higher speeds. The flowing grille striked me as odd at first but its grown on me, its a very captivating and beautiful car with a very solid feel to to the doors and trunk etc. Definitely look for one with the full screen infotainment and THX sound system with wood grain wheel, its a luxury Ford after all.

That 3.5 dual overhead cam engine really moves. Few can keep up. Air condition comes up through my seat.Heated seats are a nice touch. That 3.5 Duratec is really nice until the thin rods (the 3.0 Duratec actually had stronger rods) break or the internal chain driven water pump spills it's antifreeze inside the engine and it hydrolocks! Even if you catch it in time it's still going to be about $2000 to change the water pump because it's almost easier to pull the engine to replace it. I'd be darn sure I replaced that AF religiously to help that water pump seal keep from the acidity that will corrode it. The 3.0 and the 3.5 in RWD (external pump) are much better! Nice, but wouldn't be me. Just buy a newer one with a turbo 4 or a different (not the 3.7..better rods but same pump system in the FWD) v6.

A bit late to this review, but I am compelled to comment as I drove the car at the bottom of this platform's totem pole for over 11 years, a base 2010 Fusion S, complete with the 4 cylinder and the 6 speed hand shaker.
The Fusion had nowhere near the richness of the MK-Z's interior. However it was as reliable as a Toyota, had all the features needed (despite not having a single extra cost option other than floor mats) for a commuter, and drove like a champ. The steering feel and response was nicer than the Lexus IS that I drive today.

This car and the Ford Fusion are the same car. They both share a design flaw that is absolutely terrible. The water pump and timing chain are connected which means when the water pump goes bad you have to remove and replace the timing chain! This is by no means a cheap job. Most shops will ask at least $2,500. This design flaw is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode especially if you buy one of these cars with 150,000 miles or more. These cars make terrible used cars. They are meant to be purchased new, driven for 80,000 to 120,000 miles then traded in for a new car. Unfortunately, you can't buy them new anymore so if you decide to buy one do so at your own risk.

Even though it's trying to look like something we love from the past, it looks like everything else made at the time. Just with a vinyl roof and some plastic chrome taped on. And I'm guessing since it's a more expensive version of the Ford Fusion, the transmission will start having problems at about 80k miles.
I love your videos and most of the cars you review. But this one is a polished turd. Our taste in cars is very close. But we definitely see this one differently. Unless you're just trying to sell it and talking it way up. If that's the case, then great job. Cause you fooled me
