1979 BMW 633CSi E24 Coupe Review and Test Drive by Bill - Auto Europa Naples

- Offered for sale is this beautiful and very low mileage example of the increasingly collectible E24 Coupe from BMW, a 1979 633CSi in attractive Ruby Red Metallic over Black leather. This miraculously well maintained car is in excellent original condition from front to back, and has remarkably little wear for the vintage. Power comes from an M30 Inline 6 engine coupled to a ZF 3-speed automatic. This generation is a nice combination of modern and vintage, with important safety features and classic appointments. It runs and drives very well, and is gorgeous to look at. Low miles and freshly serviced.

Indeed it was so beautiful, Ford was kind enough to make it again in the 80s. Called it the Thunderbird tho.

I had one with electrical problems i bought for 700 dollars. I fix the electrical problems and put a new alternator on it what a dream car that was 20 years ago wish I still had that car
200hp in 1979 must have been a huge deal. Definitely adequate.
I had an 81 633CSi with a shaved and ported cylinder head, and enlarged/port matched runners on the intake/exhaust manifolds and it DEFINITELY had more than 200p HO.
With the 5-speed manual and the short ratio sport gears it really got up and moved.
Would make a fabulous soft top
As a current shark owner I like the rare Ruby Red on this example. The hood light probably worked fine - you have to have the headlights on for it to turn on!
Bill delivers! I forgot about this vintage Auto Europa aka Curious Cars video. As a teenager, I lusted after this coupé and had to wait until 1996 to get a 328i. Thanks, Bill.
My dad used to have a black one and it was such a great car it sounded great and drove great and was the car that I learned how to drive stick on but sadly it got totaled awhile back

I love watching these older videos! Bill is so well behaved! Haha! That being said I love watching the newer “short videos” that wind up being almost an hour long, better! But these are enjoyable as a kind of mile marker on the road, if you will! This was an excellent video for sure, but god damn do I love the 90 distractions he has in the videos of today! Haha. I am so grateful to have found this channel! This video was produced before he started describing the trunk as a place to carry children!

Glad I watched this video. Not only a COOL car but I got to hear you had a 1979 Firebird Formula! Did every kid that grew up in the 80s have a 1979 Firebird? BTW I had a gold 1979 Firebird which I wish I never sold as it almost never broke down on me. I ended up trading it in on a 1978 Buick Regal Turbo, basically the Grand National predecessor. While that car was fun at first it eventually died a horrible death due to the Turbo being WAY ahead it's time and hence unreliable.

This is an earlier version E24 based on the old E12 platform. Is there any visual (or handling) difference between this versiion and the later E24s based on the E28 platform?
Hood light only comes on when the headlights or parking lights are on while the hood is open.
That sunroof might need a once-over with some cleaning and new grease, i doubt it was that slow when the car was new.
Gorgeous car but I prefer our European version as pre 88 models in the US got absolutely brutalised by awful safety bumpers, think the worst is the 5 series. Nice video thanks
This 6-Series is based - though the nose and back of the 7-series - on the smaller 5-series E12.
Yes it is. The E24 sure looks like a coupe version of the E23, but they're more different than they seem. I do love these E24s, but the E23 7 is just the best.
If only the E23s had frameless windows =)
as similar as the gauges are, it is still really weird to me that the tachometer is smaller than the speedometer in this car. later e24s had the more modern style gauge layout
It’s because this is an automatic car. BMW was aiming for a pure sport GT where the engine speed was not primary for this car in auto set up.

I’ve been studying these photos . How much are you willing to take off for them disgustingly rotten oxidized anodized aluminum trim around the tail lamps , the black rubber bumper is starting to undulate , and the seams of the bolster for the driver’s seat are frayed and messed up ???????
