The best day in all of UFC history, was the day when Khabib smashed Connor MacGregor. It would have been worth the PPV, for that even alone. Second; when Cody Garbrandt made "Dom" Cruz eat his words; all ten ba-zillion of them.
That Miocic-Ngannou fight really highlighted the gaps possible in a heavyweight bout. Idk if the UFC will ever adopt the 'Bridgerweight' category, but some fights are a testament. Miocic walks around at about 215-220, and fights usually a few lbs less. Its his natural weight. Idk what Ngannou walks around at but he was what, 260 in this fight? There was a HUGE difference in mass, not just weight. I guess you accept the risk going into that division and its a testament to Stipe's heart for sure.

Trash talk = hype = money. It's a formula. The more hype, the more money from fan boys wanting to see the fight. The more a fighter can get fan boys wanting to see the fight, the more money is on the table. It's ALL about the money. The bigger the hype, the bigger the money.

Connor Macgreggor understood this. The icing on the cake comes when a trash talker actually wins, building up even more hysteria around the fighter, which means more money. The complete embarrassment comes when a trash talker loses the fight, because all the momentum built up by the trash talker is given up to the winner, and a "reputation" of just being a loser wanting another payday starts to set in, especially if the fighter has string of losses.
You have to remember, the UFC and all these MMA events are PROMOTIONS. Promotions have a propaganda element to them to get the public interested in the event the organization is promoting to the public. And trash talking is merely a form of propaganda.
